LOONEY LIGHTS
Welcome to Looney Lights! This game is inspired by the beloved Crazy Eights but with a twist of Christmas Lights. The goal is simple: be the first to get rid of all your cards.
In Looney Lights, each card has a colorful bulb on it. Your task is to match the color of the bulb on top of the discard pile. But watch out! Certain cards have special powers that will shake things up.
The deck is made up of bubble bulbs, plugs, and broken bulbs. Bubble bulbs let you skip your turn, plugs allow you to change the color of the discard pile, and broken bulbs force the next player to draw extra cards.
Now, let’s dive into the deal. Each player will be given a hand of cards. The number of cards dealt depends on how many players are in the game. The remaining cards are placed face-down to form the draw pile.
GAMEPLAY
The player to the left of the dealer goes first. They must either play a card that matches the color of the bulb on top of the discard pile or play a special card with a matching effect. If they can’t play a card, they must draw from the draw pile.
Once a player has played a card, the turn moves to the next player in a clockwise direction. The game continues until a player has emptied their hand of cards, declaring “Looney Lights!” and winning the game.
Get ready for some fast-paced, bulb-matching action! Will you be the first to triumph in Looney Lights?
Hey there! Let’s get started on this awesome card game. First things first, we need to gather all our materials. We’ll need 42 colored bulbs, 6 bubble bulbs, 8 plugs, and 5 broken bulbs. Once we have everything, we can shuffle them all together to make a deck of 61 cards. Exciting, right?
Now, depending on how many people are playing, we’ll divide the deck accordingly. If it’s just you and one other person, deal each of you 7 cards. If there are 3 or 4 players, everyone gets 5 cards each. And finally, if there are 5 or 6 players, deal 4 cards to each player. Simple, isn’t it?
Alright, now that we have our decks ready, let’s set up the game. Take the remaining cards and place them face down in a pile. This will be our draw pile. Now, flip the top card of the draw pile and place it face up. This card will start our discard pile. We’re ready to go!

The Game of Cards
Every turn, I get to play a card from my hand and add it to the discard pile. The card I choose has to match the color of the bulb on top of the discard pile. But what happens if I don’t have a card with the exact color? Well, don’t worry! I can still play a special card instead. If I don’t have any special cards either, then I have to keep drawing cards until I get one that matches.
The Power of Special Cards
Special cards can be real game-changers! One of them is the Bubble Bulb, which is like a wild card. I can play it on top of any card. And here’s the fun part: when I play a bubble bulb, I get to choose a new color. The next player has to match that color! It’s like casting a spell and changing the rules of the game in my favor!
Another special card is the Plug. I can play it on any color bulb. Once played, the plug takes on the same color as the bulb it was placed on. And from that point on, we continue playing with this color. It’s like plugging in and taking control!
Broken bulbs can also be used on any color. If you have a broken bulb in your hand, you can place it on top of the discard pile and then play another colored bulb from your hand right away.
KEEPING THE ROUND GOING
We keep playing like this until someone plays their last card onto the discard pile.
HOW TO WIN
The first person to play their last card onto the discard pile is the winner of the game.
