Getting Started

To begin, you’ll want to organize the different types of cards from the box. Once that’s done, each player should select a Party Leader character to represent them in the game. This card will be placed in front of each player, forming their Party. To determine who chooses their leader first, roll the dice.

Next, I’ll hand out a rules reference card to each of you. Put any extra Party Leader cards and rules reference cards back in the box. Then, mix all the other cards together and give five to each player. The cards we don’t use will make up the main deck, so put them in the middle of the table.

Now, let’s shuffle the Monster cards and flip over the top three to place them face up in the middle. The rest of the Monster cards will go face down to form the Monster deck. And just like that, we’re ready to start the game!

Each turn, you’ll have three action points to spend. These points are super important because they let you do all kinds of cool stuff.

Now, some actions only cost one point. For example, you can draw a card from the main deck or play an item from your hand. Another action that only costs one point is rolling two dice to use the effect of a Hero in your Party. Just keep in mind that you can only use a Hero’s effect once per turn.

If you’re feeling a little more ambitious, you can spend two action points to attack a monster card. These monsters can be pretty tough, so make sure you’re ready for a challenge! But if you’re feeling really daring, you can spend all three of your action points to discard every card in your hand and draw five new ones. It’s a risky move, but sometimes it pays off!

If a card tells you to do something right away, you don’t need to spend any action points to do it. Your turn ends when you run out of action points or when you decide to stop. You can’t save any leftover action points for your next turn.

Kinds of Cards

Hero Cards:

Every Hero card has a class and an effect. The effect of each Hero card has a roll requirement. You have to meet this requirement in order to use the effect. When you play a Hero card from your hand and add it to your party, you have to roll the dice right away to meet the requirement.

After you add the Hero card to your party, you can use one action point to try to use its effect once per turn. You won’t get the action point back if you don’t meet the requirement.

Item Cards:

Hey there! Let’s talk about item cards. They’re like special weapons and items that you can use to enhance your heroes. Some of these cards give good effects, while others can have negative effects. You can even equip the enemy heroes with the bad ones to give them a disadvantage. Pretty cool, right?

And then we have modifier cards:

You just use the amount written on the card to modify the roll, and then you throw the card away. Some cards even give you a choice between two options. Each card represents a leader with their own special abilities and skills that give you an advantage during the game. These cards are not the same as Hero cards because you can use them over and over again, as long as you meet the conditions.

Party leader cards are special and cannot be sacrificed, destroyed, stolen, or returned. They stay in your hand for the entire game.

Monsters:

In the game, you can tell the monster cards apart from the other cards because they’re bigger and have blue backs. If a monster card is face up on the table, you can attack it by spending two action points. But first, you have to meet the party requirements listed on the monster card.

Now, attacking a monster isn’t as simple as just rolling dice. You also have to roll a number that’s equal to or higher than the roll requirement on the monster card. If you meet that requirement, congratulations! You’ve defeated the monster. But be careful, because monsters can fight back if you roll within a certain range.

Here’s the fun part: every time you defeat a monster, your party gains a new skill. This skill is listed at the bottom of the monster card. You add the card to your party collection, right next to your Party Leader card. And don’t worry, there’s always another monster card waiting to be revealed once you’ve defeated one.
