Unpacking a Card
Hey there! I want to talk to you about this awesome art exhibit I went to. It had a bunch of different art pieces on display, and each exhibit had its own unique set of two or three pieces. It was really cool to see the variety and creativity on display!
Hey there! Let me tell you all about this amazing art exhibit. It’s organized into different categories: abstract, landscape, portrait, and still life. You can easily spot the category by looking at the background colors in each exhibit. Oh, and the featured category is also mentioned on the card back. Cool, right?
Now, here’s the part where it gets really interesting. When you add an exhibit to your gallery, there’s this arrow that shows which column will score points. It could be the column on the left or the one on the right. Keep an eye on that arrow!
And guess what? The exhibit also has an area for visitors. You can have as many visitors as you want at each exhibit. That’s pretty neat!
But wait, there’s more: Here’s a little secret – the front of the exhibit cards in your hand are hidden from everyone else until you play them. But, the card backs must always be visible to your opponents. So they have a clue about what you could play.
Now, here’s where it gets really clever. Smart players like you will use this information to their advantage. You’ll pay close attention to what cards I could play, won’t you? That way, you can stay one step ahead!
Now, let’s get set up!
First, let’s get the exhibit cards ready. We need to separate them into two decks: the starting exhibit deck with the black borders, and the main exhibit deck with white borders. Don’t forget to shuffle each deck separately to ensure a fair game.
Now, it’s time to deal the starting exhibit cards. Each player should get two cards from the starting exhibit deck. Place these cards face up in front of you, side by side.
Next, deal each player three cards from the starting exhibit deck to form their hand. Keep the fronts of these cards hidden from your opponents until you decide to play them. However, make sure the backs of the cards remain visible at all times.
We’re almost ready to start playing. Put the remaining cards from the starting exhibit deck back into the game box.
Lastly, we need to adjust the main exhibit deck based on the number of players. Remove a certain number of cards from each category:
- If there are 2 players, remove 4 random cards from each category.
- If there are 3 players, remove 3 random cards from each category.
- If there are more than 3 players, adjust the number of removed cards accordingly.
Now you’re all set to begin your art gallery adventure! Good luck!
1. First of all, let’s set up the game by preparing the different components.
2. Get the main exhibit cards and remove a certain number of cards based on the number of players. If you have 4 players, remove 0 cards, and if you have 5 players, remove 3 random cards.
3. After removing the cards, shuffle the remaining main exhibit cards and split them into two draw piles. Make sure the piles are roughly equal in size.
4. Place these draw piles in the center of the play area where everyone can reach them.
5. Next, separate the masterpiece tokens by category and place them in the center of the play area as well. Arrange them according to their numerical values within each category.
6. Take the prestige tokens and place them to one side of the play area. These tokens will form the general supply that players can use during the game.
7. Lastly, give each player a certain number of visitor pawns in their chosen color. The number of pawns will depend on the number of players. If you have 2 players, give each player 5 visitors. For 3 players, each player gets 7 visitors. If you have 4 players, give each player 8 visitors, and for 5 players, each player gets 9 visitors. Make sure to return the remaining visitors to the game box.
That’s it! You’re all set up and ready to start playing the game. Have fun!
When we start playing the game, we have to determine who goes first. We can do this by finding out which player has personally seen the most famous piece of art, or we can choose randomly.
Playing the Game
The game consists of a series of turns that go around in a circle, starting with the first player. This continues until the game ends.
During your turn, there are five steps you need to follow:
- Play a Card
- Welcome Visitors
- Earn Prestige
- Claim a Masterpiece
- Draw a Card
1. Play a Card
In this step, you have to select one exhibition card from your hand and place it in your gallery.
You can choose to add it to an existing column or start a new column.
Hey there! If you want to add a card to a column, simply place the new card on top of the other cards in that column. Make sure the cards are spread out vertically, with the new card at the front. This way, you can see the artwork on all the cards in the column.
Now, if you’re looking to start a fresh column, just play the card to the left or right of all the existing columns in your gallery. But remember, you can’t start a new column in between existing ones.

Welcome, Visitors!
Hey there! It’s time to take a closer look at what happens when your opponents get involved in the game. So, here’s the deal: your opponents will be checking out their own galleries to see if there are any columns with the same featured category as the exhibit card you just played.
If they find any matching exhibit cards in their gallery, they have the option to place one of their visitors on those cards. But hey, it’s not mandatory! If they don’t have any more visitors left in their personal supply, they won’t be able to place any for now.
Now, here’s an important thing to note: you, my friend, won’t be able to place any visitors. Yep, you read that right. Only your opponents get to have some fun and place visitors on your turn.
Step 3: Gain Prestige
Now it’s time to earn some prestige! There are two ways you can do this. As you gain prestige, take prestige tokens from the general supply and keep them in your own play area.
- First, let’s look at the covered exhibit card and see how many visitors are on it. For each visitor, you earn one prestige. Once you’ve counted them, remove the visitors from the covered card and put them back in your personal supply.
- Next, check the direction arrow on the exhibit card you played. This will guide you to an adjacent column. In that column, count the number of art pieces that match the featured category of the exhibit card you played. For each matching art piece, you earn one prestige.
Hey there! I’ve got something important to tell you. So, you know that exhibit card you played just now? Well, if it’s in the first or last column of your gallery, it might be pointing at one of your neighbors.
Now, here’s where things get interesting. Instead of counting the matching art pieces in your gallery, you actually need to count the matching art pieces in your neighbor’s nearest column. Pretty cool, huh?

Step 4: Claim Your Masterpiece
Now it’s time to claim your very own masterpiece token! Each token represents a unique work of art and comes with its own special attributes. There are four categories to choose from: abstract, landscape, portrait, and still life. These categories capture the essence of different artistic styles and genres.
Each masterpiece token has a specific claim requirement, which can range from five to nine. This means you’ll need to meet certain criteria to claim that particular token. Consider it a challenge to test your skills and creativity!
But that’s not all – each masterpiece token also has a prestige value, ranging from zero to four. This represents the level of admiration and value that your artwork holds in the eyes of viewers and collectors. The higher the prestige value, the more esteemed your masterpiece becomes.
Here’s how you determine whether you can claim a masterpiece token: add up the prestige points you earned this turn, both from visitors and by matching art pieces. If the total meets or exceeds the claim requirement of a masterpiece token in the general supply, congratulations! You can claim that token for yourself.
However, there’s a catch – you can only claim a masterpiece token if it matches the featured category of the exhibit card you played this turn. This adds an extra layer of challenge and strategy to the game, as you’ll need to plan your moves carefully and think about which art pieces to display.
So go ahead, unleash your inner artist, and claim your masterpiece! Show the world your unique vision and creativity.
When you get a masterpiece token, you have to immediately put it in an empty slot. It can go between any two columns in your gallery or at one end of your gallery.
You can’t put a masterpiece token in a slot where you already have another one. If there are no empty slots in your gallery, you can’t get a masterpiece token.
Note: You can only get one masterpiece token of each category. If you think you can get a more valuable one of the same category later, you might want to wait and not get one this turn.
In your gallery, every masterpiece token represents an art piece in a specific category. When you play an exhibit card next to a masterpiece token and the arrow points towards it, you’ll earn an extra point if it matches the featured category.
If you put a masterpiece token at one end of your gallery, your neighbor on that side will also earn an extra point when they play an exhibit card in the closest column of their gallery and the arrow points towards your masterpiece token.
Step 5: It’s Time to Draw!
Now it’s time to add more cards to your hand. To do this, you’ll draw a card from either of the two face-down draw piles. It’s up to you to choose which pile you want to draw from.
But here’s something interesting: you can actually see what categories are featured on the tops of these draw piles. Since the cards are face down, you’ll only see the backs, but that’s enough to know what you’re getting into.
The End of the Game
The game will come to an end when both draw piles are empty and all players have emptied their hands. At this point, it’s time for final scoring.
During final scoring, you’ll earn prestige based on the value of the masterpiece tokens in your gallery. So make sure to collect those tokens throughout the game!
Hey there! Let’s talk about a really cool game called “Museum Heist”. It’s a board game where players take on the role of art collectors, going head-to-head to create the best gallery. Now, I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love art, so this game is right up my alley!
In Museum Heist, each player starts with a blank gallery and a set of masterpiece tokens. These tokens represent different categories of art, like paintings, sculptures, and artifacts. The goal is to strategically place these tokens in your gallery to create a diverse and impressive collection.
Here’s the fun part: you get bonus points for having a variety of masterpiece tokens in your gallery. The more categories you have represented, the more prestige you earn. It’s all about showing off your impeccable taste and curation skills!
Now, let’s break it down. Each player earns bonus prestige based on how many different categories of masterpiece tokens they have in their gallery. So, if you have tokens from all three categories – paintings, sculptures, and artifacts – you’ll earn a ton of extra points!
But here’s the twist: you need to carefully plan your moves to maximize your bonus prestige. You can’t just throw random tokens into your gallery and hope for the best. You have to strategize and think ahead to make sure you’re covering all the categories.
Imagine walking through a real-life art gallery. You’d want to see a mix of paintings, sculptures, and artifacts, right? Well, the same goes for your virtual gallery in Museum Heist. The more diverse and interesting your collection is, the more impressive your gallery will be.
So, if you’re a fan of art, strategy, and friendly competition, I highly recommend checking out Museum Heist. It’s a game that combines creativity, critical thinking, and a love for the arts all in one. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
The player who has earned the most total prestige is declared the winner!
In the event of a tie, the player who has the most visitors still present in their gallery will be declared the winner. If the tie persists, the players will share the victory.
