GRINCH GROW YOUR HEART

MEET GRINCH GROW YOUR HEART

Grinch Grow Your Heart is a fun and exciting card game designed for 2 – 6 players. In this game, one player gets to be the Grinch, while the others are the Whos. It’s an asymmetrical game, which means that each player has different abilities and goals.

The objective of the game is to collect sets of cards and score the most points. Every round, players will draw and discard cards multiple times to try and create the best hand possible. The Whos can only draw cards from the main deck, while the Grinch has the ability to draw from both the main deck and the Whos’ discard piles.

After each round, players will score their hands using a Yahtzee-style scoring system. They can only score each row once, so they need to choose wisely. The player with the highest score at the end of the final round wins the game and becomes the ultimate Grinch.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Hey there! Let me tell you about this awesome game I love playing. It’s called “The Grinch’s Holiday Cards.” It’s super fun, and I think you’ll enjoy it too!

So, in this game, we use a special deck of 48 cards. The deck is divided into four suits: Wreathes, Noise, Ornaments, and Presents. Each suit has 12 cards, with two copies of each rank from 1 to 6. And get this, some cards have special bonuses at the bottom! These bonuses give you extra points when you meet the requirements.

But wait, there’s more! We also have these Grinch tiles and heart tokens. They help us keep track of the turns and remind us how many cards we should have in our hand. Handy, right?

Let’s Get Set Up!

First things first, we need to determine who is going to be the first dealer. Once we’ve figured that out, the dealer will give two cards to each player. The rest of the cards go facedown to create the draw pile. Simple, right?

So here’s the deal: in this game, someone has to play as the Grinch, and that’s gonna be me! I’m gonna have this cool Grinch tile and some heart tokens. Now, the Grinch tile starts with a 3 in its heart showing. Each time I take a turn as the Grinch, I’ll add one heart token to the tile. That way, we can keep track of how many turns have passed. Plus, it’ll remind you all how many cards you’re supposed to have in your hand. Easy peasy, right?

The Game

Let’s dive into the exciting world of Whos and the Grinch! In this game, each round is made up of three turns. And guess what? You get to play as both the Whos and the Grinch!

Whos Take Their Turn

First, it’s time for the Whos to make their move. Everyone playing as a Who gets to draw two cards from the draw pile. After that, you have to decide which card you want to get rid of. Say goodbye to one card by placing it face up on your personal discard pile.

The Grinch’s Turn

Now it’s the Grinch’s turn to wreak havoc – or try to, at least. The Grinch, just like the Whos, draws two cards. But here’s the twist – the Grinch can choose where to draw these cards from. They can take them from the draw pile or from any Who’s discard pile. The Grinch can even snag the top card from their own discard pile if they want to! For example, they might take one card from the draw pile and another from a Who’s discard pile. Once they have their cards, it’s time to discard one face up into their own discard pile.

So here’s how the game works. At the end of the first turn, everyone should have 3 cards in their hand. Once the Grinch confirms this, we place the 4 heart token on the Grinch tile for the next turn.

We repeat this process two more times. By the end of the final turn, everyone should have five cards in their hand. That’s when the round is over, and it’s time to score our hands.

Pass the Grinch

After we score our hands, we pass the Grinch to the player on our left. We shuffle all the cards together and deal two to each player. The number of rounds we play depends on how many people are playing.

For 2 players, we play 6 rounds. For 3 players, we also play 6 rounds. For 4 players, it’s 4 rounds. For 5 players, we play 5 rounds. And if we have 6 players, we play 6 rounds.

Scoring

There are seven rows on the score pad. Each row represents a different way to score points in the game. You can only choose one row per round, and once you use a row, you can’t use it again.

Wreaths: To score points in this row, add up the total value of all your Wreath cards.

Noises: In this row, you score points by adding up the total value of all your Noise cards.

Ornaments: The Ornaments row is all about adding up the total value of your Ornament cards.

Presents: Score points in the Presents row by adding up the total value of your Present cards.

Rainbow: This row is a bit different. You need to find the highest valued card of each color and add their values together.

Match: If you have three cards with the same number, you’ll earn 10 points. Four cards with the same number will give you 20 points, and five cards with the same number will earn you 30 points.

Run: In this row, you’ll earn points for having a run of cards in sequential order. A run of four cards earns you 15 points, while a run of five cards will give you 25 points. The cards in the run can be any suit.

Ready to Score Some Points?

Guess what? I’ve got some exciting news for you! Some of these cards can help you earn bonus points. How cool is that? Let me tell you all about it.

So, there are these special bonus cards that can give you an extra boost. You’ve got bonus +5 cards and bonus +10 cards. If you happen to have one card of the required suit, then the bonus +5 card will earn you an additional 5 bonus points. And wait, it gets even better! If you manage to have three cards of the required suit and you have a bonus +10 card, you’ll earn an extra 10 points! That’s some serious bonus action right there.

Now, let’s talk about how you record your points. After adding up all your scores for the round, make sure to write them down in the designated row for each player. Just remember, you can only score each row once per game. So, choose wisely and strategize!

Aim for the Win!

All right, now listen up. The player with the most points at the end of the final round will be crowned the winner. You want that title, don’t you? Of course, you do! So, play your cards right, aim high, and give it your all. May the best player win!
