FIVE-MINUTE DUNGEON
Hey there! Let me tell you about a thrilling game called Five-Minute Dungeon. In this game, you and your team will venture into seven dangerous dungeons, where you’ll encounter enemies at every turn. The catch? You only have five minutes to conquer each dungeon! So, teamwork and communication are crucial if you want to succeed.
As soon as the five-minute timer starts, your team must act swiftly to defeat the enemies lurking in the dungeon. To defeat them, you’ll need to work together and match their symbols. Each player has their own unique set of symbols, so coordinating your efforts is key. Traverse challenging dungeons, collaborate with your teammates, and strive for victory!
SETUP
Let’s get started with the setup. First, everyone in your team should choose a hero to represent them. Each hero has a different color, so make sure to pick the one you like. Once you’ve chosen your heroes, grab the corresponding deck, give it a good shuffle, and place it face down on the Draw Pile space of your Hero Mat. Now you’re ready to embark on your epic dungeon-crawling adventure!
In order to start the game, first, I need to draw a hand of cards from my deck. If I’m playing with two players, I should draw five cards. If there are three players, four cards will do, and if there are four or more players, three cards each will suffice.
Now, let’s set up the Dungeon. We’ll need to choose which Boss Mat we want to face and place it in the center of our playing area. Next, we count out the cards as indicated on the Boss Mat. After that, we add two Challenge Cards per player and shuffle the deck. Finally, we place the deck on top of the symbols on the Boss Mat.
Now that we’re all set up, it’s time to get the timer ready. If you have the app for this game, you can use it as a timer. Start the timer as soon as the first card in the dungeon is revealed.
Let the gameplay begin!
When my team and I venture into the Dungeon, defeating Dungeon cards becomes paramount. This is what propels us forward and gives us the opportunity to conquer it. If we come across an Event card, we simply perform the described action and set it aside, keeping our momentum in the Dungeon. However, if the Dungeon card presents symbols, we must strategize and utilize resource cards or action cards to overcome them.
To defeat a Dungeon card using resource cards, we must match all the symbols shown on the card. It requires careful planning and a keen eye to make sure we have the right resources in our hand. On the other hand, if we have action cards that can take down the Dungeon card, we can play them without needing to match any symbols.
Each hero in our team possesses a unique special ability that significantly assists us in our Dungeon journey. You can find these abilities at the bottom of their Hero Mat. When we want to activate a hero’s ability, all we need to do is discard three cards face-up into the Discard space on our Hero Mat. We then communicate this exciting development to our fellow adventurers and continue with our actions, empowered by our hero’s special ability.
Hey there! So, once I’ve defeated a Dungeon Card, I’ll move it to the side and set aside any other cards I’ve used. Then, I’ll flip a new Dungeon Card to face up. Don’t forget to replenish your hand with fresh cards, just like when we started. But here’s the thing, if I ever run out of cards and no one helps me, I’ll be stuck and unable to do anything. So teamwork is crucial!
After we’ve defeated a Dungeon, it’s time to get ready for the next one. Each player should take back their hero deck and sort all their cards. Once everything is sorted out, we’ll place the Boss Mat for the next Dungeon right in the middle of our playing area. Oh, and don’t forget to reset the timer!
This cycle of gameplay will continue for seven Dungeons or until our team loses. Let’s give it our all and aim for victory!
Card Types
Sorceress and Wizard
These heroes are special because their decks contain Scrolls. Whenever the Wizard uses their ability, it pauses the game timer, giving us a breather. The game remains paused until one of us plays a card.
Paladin and Valkyrie
In the deck, you’ll find shield symbols scattered throughout.
If you’re searching for Sword symbols, the Barbarian and Gladiator are your best bet.
Want Jump symbols? Look no further than the Ninja and Thief.
When you need Arrow symbols, the Huntress and Ranger are the heroes to choose. The Huntress has a special ability that lets you draw four cards.
Challenge cards come in two types. Some are Event cards, marked with a star, and they require your team to complete a specific action right away.
Every Door card presents an obstacle or enemy that your team must defeat. The card contains information about the threat, the symbols needed to overcome it, and the type of obstacle it is.
End of the Game
The game ends when your team either wins or is defeated. To win, you must complete all seven Dungeons and defeat The Dungeon Master Final Form. But be warned, there are two ways to lose: if all players run out of cards or if time runs out before the Dungeon is conquered. So keep your wits about you!
