Eagle wing – learn to play with

EAGLE WING

Hey there! Welcome to Eagle Wing, also known as Thirteen Down. It’s a solitaire game with a unique twist – the tableau is shaped like the wings of an eagle! Cool, right? Now, let me tell you how it works.

First things first: the foundation. We start with a random set of cards in the foundation, and you’ve got one pile already started. The cards in the foundation can’t be built upon, so that adds an extra challenge to the game. Trust me, it’s not that easy!

Alright, let’s talk about the deal. I shuffle the deck real nice, making sure it’s all mixed up. Then, I’ll deal thirteen cards face-down to create the body of the eagle. Next, I’ll deal eight cards face-up in a row – four on one side of the body and four on the other. And finally, I’ll place one card face-up right above the body to start off the foundation pile. The remaining cards go in the draw pile. Simple as that!

Let’s talk about an important rule in this card game. If you have any cards in the wings that have the same rank as the card in the foundation pile, you need to move them right away to the foundation row. And don’t forget to fill the spaces in the wings with a card from the body pile. This is a simple yet crucial step in playing the game.

THE PLAY

Let’s talk about how to play this game. The goal is to build the foundation piles in a particular order. It starts with a certain card and ends with the next lowest one. For example, if the first card dealt is a 7♠, then we need to uncover the other 7’s. We build the piles up to the King, and then we start over with the Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Finally, the top card of each foundation pile will be a 6.

Now, let’s talk about what happens after we move any available foundation cards from the wings and fill the empty spaces with cards from the body. We start drawing cards from the draw pile, one at a time. These cards can be played directly to the foundations. If we can’t play the drawn card, we put it face up on the waste pile. However, we can always play cards from the wings and the top cards from the draw and waste piles to the foundations. So keep that in mind!

When only one card remains in the pile, turn it face up. This card doesn’t have to be used to fill any spaces on the wings. It stays face up until you can play it on a foundation. When the wings can no longer be filled with cards from the pile, use the top cards from the draw or waste piles to fill the spaces. You get to choose which pile to use.

If the draw pile runs out, flip over the waste pile and start again. If you have to do this a third time, you lose.

HOW TO WIN

You win by correctly playing all the cards to their foundation piles in two reshuffles or less.
