The Cards and the Deal

Before each hand, the dealer sets the ante, which is the amount required from each player to join the round.

Alright, let’s play a game. First, we shuffle the deck and give each player four cards. Take a look at your hand and get ready. Now, we also deal four cards face down on the table – this is the community pool.

Time for Action

Now, based on the cards you have, the player to the left of the dealer can choose to check (stay in the game with the current bet), raise (add more to the pot), or fold (quit and turn in their cards). Everyone gets a turn in the first round of betting. If someone raises the bet, the other players have to match it or fold.

Once the first betting round is done, the dealer flips over the first community card. Then, we have another round of betting.

We keep playing like this, flipping the rest of the community cards one by one, until they all face up. And then, it’s time for the showdown!

SHOWDOWN

Alright, when we get to the showdown, it’s time to show our hands. We’ve all made it this far, so let’s see who’s got the best hand. The player with the highest hand, using the cards they’ve got in their hand and the ones on the table, gets to take home the pot.

After that, we pass the deal to the next player, and the game keeps going. The game only ends when one person has all the chips or we’ve played the agreed-upon number of deals.
