Blink – learn to play with

BLINK

Hey there! Have you heard of Blink? It’s an exciting game that Mattel released in 2019. It’s all about speed and getting rid of your cards. Blink is perfect for two players, and if you enjoy games like Speed or James Bond, you’ll definitely love this one!

MATERIALS

To play Blink, you’ll need a deck of 60 cards. This special deck is made up of six different suits, and each suit contains ten cards. So get your deck ready and let’s jump into the fun!

SETTING UP THE GAME

To start the game, shuffle the deck of cards and give each player one card face down. These cards will be used to create the players’ draw piles.

Next, each player takes the top card from their draw pile and places it face down in the center. Both players will have access to the two discard piles, but should not look at these cards yet.

Now, each player draws three cards from their own draw pile. This will be their starting hand.

THE GAME

Let’s dive right into it! We flip over the card we set face down in the center of the table, and the game starts.

Now, this game is all about speed. We don’t take turns. It’s a race! So, as fast as we can, we play cards from our hands to the discard pile. But wait, there’s a catch. The card we play must match the one on top of the discard pile in either color, shape, or count. We can only play one card at a time.

Keep an eye on your hand, because as we play cards, we can refill it with up to three cards from our own draw pile. But here’s the kicker: you can never have more than three cards in your hand at a time. So, make sure to strategize your plays!

The game keeps going until one of us manages to get rid of all the cards in both their draw pile and their hand. That’s when triumph is yours!

If you and I both can’t play a card from our hand, we need to reset the discard piles. It’s a simple process – we both flip the top card from our draw pile onto the closest discard pile. However, if there’s only one draw pile left, or no draw piles at all, we each pick a card from our hand and play it to the closest draw pile simultaneously. And then, we can continue playing!

THE WINNER

The game ends when someone manages to play all the cards from their discard pile and their hand. That player is the winner. So let’s get those cards flying and see who comes out on top!
