Welcome to Blank Slate!
Hey there! I’m really excited to share with you this super fun game called Blank Slate. It’s all about coming up with words and trying to match them with other players to earn points. Trust me, you’re going to love it!
Getting Started
Here’s what you need to get started: a deck of cards and a whiteboard for each player. Oh, and don’t forget to write your names on the scoreboard. Make sure the colors match with your whiteboards, so it’s easy to keep track of scores.
Gameplay Explained
So, here’s how the game works: First, we all gather around, excited to start playing. Then, we randomly decide who gets to go first. It’s all fair and square! The lucky player, with heart pounding and a smile on their face, picks up a card from the deck. On that card, there’s a word. This word is so important because it’s going to set the tone for the whole game. Are you ready for the big reveal?
Once the chosen player has uncovered the word, they share it with everyone. Loud and clear, so nobody misses it! But that’s not all. The card, holding the precious word, is then placed in the center of the table. Everyone can see it, a constant reminder of the challenge we face. It’s like a secret message, revealed for everyone to ponder.
Now that the word is out, the game is afoot! The fun begins as each player takes turns, trying to come up with a clue that links back to the original word. It’s a race against time, as thoughts swirl around and the excitement builds. Can you find the perfect word that will make a connection? Grab everyone’s attention, give them the “aha!” moment, and lead them to the answer? This is where the game gets really interesting.
As the game progresses, the card collection grows. The table becomes a colorful collage of words, each holding its own story, waiting to be discovered. It’s a journey of exploration and strategy, where every choice counts. With each new card placed down, the possibilities expand and the challenge deepens. The web of connections grows, and we’re all caught up in the thrill of the chase.
And in the end, when all the cards have been played, it’s time for the grand finale. That’s when we gather together, sharing stories, laughter, and the joy of the game. It’s not just about the words we found, but the memories we made. So, are you ready to dive in? Can you bring your wit, creativity, and intuition to the table, and conquer the challenge? Let’s find out!
Have you ever played a game where you try to come up with the perfect word to complete a sentence? It’s a fun challenge that gets everyone’s brains working!
Here’s how the game works: everyone writes down a word that they think will be the best fit for a given word or phrase. But here’s the catch – they can’t let anyone else know what they wrote! It’s a secret.
Once everyone has written down their answers (and maybe even added a timer for some extra excitement), it’s time to reveal the words. It can be done all at once, with everyone flipping their whiteboards over at the same time, or one by one for a little extra suspense.
So, here’s the deal: the aim of the game is to find someone who thinks just like you. Pretty cool, right? (Great minds think alike, they say).
Here’s how it goes: after points have been given out, the next person gets to be the one who picks the word. The game keeps going counterclockwise, unless we say otherwise, until everyone has had their turn as the picker.
Here’s a few examples to get you started
Just to give you an idea of how it works, let’s say we have a game with five players. The picker (one of the players) chooses a card with the word “Speed” and a blank line after it, like this: SPEED______. Now, let’s say player A writes “limit”, players B and C write “lane”, player D writes “boat”, and player E writes “breaker”. All five words are choices, but only players B and C get points because they matched with each other. They both get three points. Players A, D, and E don’t get any points for their words.
Let me give you an example. Imagine we’re playing a game called Card Selector. In this game, I’ll choose a card with the word “ICE” on it. Then, each player has to write down a word that comes before or after “ICE.”
Let’s say players A, B, and C all write down the word “cream,” while players D and E both write down the word “pack.” In this case, players A, B, and C would each earn one point, while players D and E would earn three points each. These points would be recorded on a scorecard next to their names.
Card Selector is a really fun game to play in schools, especially when you’re learning about prefixes, suffixes, compound words, or two-word phrases.
SCORING
Now, let’s talk about how the scoring works. Whenever two players have matching words, they each earn three points. But if more than two players have matching words, each player only earns one point. And if a player doesn’t have a matching word, they don’t earn any points at all.
END OF GAME
The game continues until one player reaches 25 points. That’s when the game comes to an end.
