BELEAGUERED CASTLE
INTRODUCING BELEAGUERED CASTLE
Hey there! Let me tell you all about Beleaguered Castle, a really cool game in the Open Solitaire family. You might have heard of Free Cell, right? Well, Beleaguered Castle is in the same family and plays a lot like it. But here’s the twist – in Beleaguered Castle, there’s no place to temporarily hold cards, which makes it even more challenging. It’s kind of like a game in between Citadel (less challenging) and Streets & Alleys (more challenging).
THE CARDS & THE DEAL
First things first, let’s get started with the game. Start by taking out the four Aces and putting them in a neat vertical column. These Aces are the foundations of the game.
Let’s start the game by dealing out the remaining cards. I’ll place them one by one to create rows on both sides of the Aces. Each row will have six cards, and I’ll make sure that the top card is fully exposed. This will create the tableau, which is where we’ll play the game.
How to Play
The goal of the game is to build the foundations from Ace to King. You can do this by moving cards from the tableau to the foundations, following two rules: the cards must have the same suit, and they must be in ascending order.
For example, if you have the 2 of hearts in the tableau, you can place it on top of the Ace of hearts. Similarly, if you have the 2 of clubs, you can place it on top of the Ace of clubs, and so on.
In this game, you can move one card at a time from row to row. But there’s a catch – you can only move cards from the ends of the rows. When you move a card, make sure to place it on top of a card that is one number higher. For example, if you’re moving a 9, it should go on top of a 10. The suit of the cards doesn’t matter when you’re moving them between rows.
If you manage to clear a row completely, you can start a new row by placing a card in that empty space.
Now, here’s an interesting twist: once you’ve placed a card on its correct foundation, you can’t take it back. This makes the game even more challenging. However, if you’re finding it too hard, don’t worry! You can remove cards from the foundation if it helps you.
How to Win
The ultimate goal is to move all the cards to their correct foundations. Once you achieve that, congratulations! You have won the game.
