Authors game rules – how to play authors

AUTHORS

Authors is a fantastic game for people who love to think strategically and enjoy asking questions. The objective of the game is to collect a complete set of four cards, each representing a different suit. There are even special decks available that feature captivating stories about famous authors and their books! You have the power to ask for specific cards from your opponents, and they can’t refuse your request!

SETUP

To start the game, choose someone to be the dealer. The dealer will then shuffle the deck and deal all of the cards to each player. Make sure everyone has an equal number of cards. Now, it’s time to begin!

GAMEPLAY

Hey there! So, here’s how this card game works. The first move is made by the player on the dealer’s left. They get to choose cards to make what we call a “book.” A book is made up of four cards with the same rank, one from each suit. It’s like putting together a little card family!

Now, here’s the thing: players are going to ask each other for cards they need. And when I say “ask,” I mean they have to ask for the exact card they’re looking for. No mixing things up!

It’s important for the player asking to actually have the cards they’re asking for. If they ask for a card and another player has it, they have to give it up. Sharing is caring, you know? But if someone has a card and doesn’t give it when asked, well, there are penalties to pay. So, be fair!

Here’s how the gameplay goes: it keeps going around the table counterclockwise, with each player asking for a card they need. And once a player collects a book, they show it off to everyone and put it in front of them. Ooh, look at that collection grow!

The game only ends when all the players run out of cards. And here’s the exciting part: the player who has the most books, meaning they’ve collected the most card families, is declared the big winner! Time to celebrate!
