AUSTRALIAN FISH
Hey there! Have you ever heard of Australian Fish? It’s a super fun fishing card game that you can play with 2 to 6 players. The objective of the game is to collect as many pairs of cards as you can, and be the player with the most pairs at the end!
LET’S GET STARTED!
So, to set up the game, we first need to choose a dealer. The dealer will then shuffle the deck of cards. Each player is dealt 7 cards, and the remaining cards are placed in a draw pile in the center of the table.
Now, here’s an interesting twist – the player who has the most matching pairs of cards gets to go first! Pretty cool, right?
IT’S TIME TO PLAY!
Okay, now that we’re all set up, let’s begin! The player who has the most pairs in their hand will take the first turn. But before they do, they need to place all their pairs in front of them, so everyone can see.
When it’s my turn, I can ask any player if they have a card with a specific rank. But I can only ask for a card if I have one like it in my own hand. If the player I ask has the card, they’ll give it to me, and then I can immediately place it with its pair. I can’t keep pairs in my hand – they have to be placed right away.
If the player I ask doesn’t have the card I’m looking for, they’ll say “go fish.” That means the card I asked for isn’t in their hand. Then I have to draw a card from the top of the deck and put any pairs I make in front of me.
Alright, here’s how the game works.
Whenever it’s my turn, I’ll place a pair of cards. Once I’m done, it’s your turn.
If I ever run out of cards, I’ll draw 7 new ones.
The game keeps going until there are no more cards left in the pile and everyone’s hands are empty.
SCORING
Every pair I make gets me a point.
END OF GAME
Once the game is over, we’ll compare our scores. The person with the highest score wins. And if we have a tie, we all win together.
VARIATIONS
Hey there! Let’s talk about some cool variations you can add to make the game more interesting for older players. You know, sometimes you want to spice things up a bit! Instead of using the regular 52-card deck, you can try different types of decks. How about adding a pair of jokers? These jokers work just like any other card, but if you collect the pair, you get 2 points instead of just 1. Pretty neat, right?
Oh, and here’s another twist. Some people like to play that if you have all 4 cards of the same rank, you score an extra point on top of the 2 points you get for the pairs. It’s like a little bonus for being really lucky!
So, let your imagination run wild and experiment with these variations. You never know, they might just make the game even more fun!
By the way, let me introduce myself. I’m Amber, and I love games. I’m a total expert at gaming, and I’m always up for a challenge. When I’m not playing games, you can find me hanging out with my dogs, taking care of my plants, or playing some good old Dungeons & Dragons. It’s all about having fun, right?!
So there you have it. Give these variations a try and let the good times roll!
