ACCENTUATE
Welcome to Accentuate, a card game that adds an exciting twist to the usual gameplay. In this game, one member of each team will roll a die to determine the options for the round. Then, players will draw quotation cards and accent cards, and the fun will begin!
Each player will have thirty seconds to read a quote and imitate the accent written on their accent card. The challenge is that their teammates only have one chance to guess the correct accent and earn points. So, think fast!
SETUP
To get started, divide players into two teams. Shuffle all the quote cards and place them in the middle of the playing area, making sure they’re accessible to everyone. Put the accent cards, timer, and die next to the quote cards.
Hey there! Let me tell you how to play this fun game called Accent Showdown. I’ll explain the rules and some tips to help you get started.
GAMEPLAY
First, you need to share the accent lists with all the players. This will show all the different accents that you can choose from. Once everyone knows the options, grab a pencil and some paper to keep score. Now, we’re ready to begin!
The player who owns the game gets to go first. They can choose someone from their team to be the first speaker. This person will speak with an accent. To decide which accent they’ll use, roll the dice and see what options are available.
If a player can’t do the accent, they have one chance to swap their card for a different one. Another option is to choose a different teammate to take over as the speaker. If they do this, the new speaker will need to draw a new card. Finally, if they’re feeling confident, they can just play and complete their quote using the chosen accent.
When my team plays this game, we get really excited. We can all scream our guesses to the person who is speaking, but we have to be quick because we only have a certain amount of time. If we guess right before the time runs out, we get a point. Then it’s the other team’s turn to try.
We keep playing like this until one team gets 15 points.
The game ends
The game ends when one team reaches 15 points. That team is declared the winners! And when they win, they get to celebrate by speaking in their favorite accent. They’ve definitely earned it.
