Scenario: New World

Imagine waking up one day to find yourself in a completely different world. The sky is a vibrant shade of purple, and there are creatures you’ve never seen before. It’s a strange and surreal experience, but also incredibly exciting. As I look around, I can’t help but feel a mix of confusion and wonder. How did I end up here? And where exactly is “here”?

As I explore this new world, I quickly realize that everything is unfamiliar. The trees have a unique glow, and the flowers emit a mesmerizing fragrance. Everywhere I turn, there is something new and intriguing to discover. It’s like stepping into a dream or a fantasy novel.

The inhabitants of this world are equally fascinating. I encounter beings with wings that shimmer like rainbows and creatures that can change their shape at will. Their language is different, but somehow, I manage to communicate with them. It’s a testament to the power of human curiosity and adaptability.

Although I’m in awe of this new world, I also feel a pang of homesickness. The sounds, smells, and sights are all so different from what I’m accustomed to. It’s a reminder of how connected we are to our own familiar surroundings and how they shape our identity.

But amidst the nostalgia, I can’t help but feel a sense of freedom. In this new world, I have a chance to start afresh. I can leave behind my old habits and experiences and embrace the unknown. It’s a chance to redefine who I am and what I want from life.

Exploring this new world brings its own set of challenges. I have to navigate through dense forests, cross treacherous rivers, and find shelter in unfamiliar terrains. It requires courage, resilience, and a deep trust in my instincts. Every step is an adventure and a test of my abilities.

As I immerse myself further into this new world, I realize that it’s not just a physical place but also a state of mind. It represents the possibility of change and growth. It’s a reminder that there are countless worlds out there waiting to be discovered, both within ourselves and in the vast universe.

So, if you ever find yourself in a new world, embrace the unknown. Embrace the confusion and the awe. Embrace the opportunity to redefine yourself and to discover new realms of possibility. After all, it’s in these moments of exploration that we truly come alive.

The Game Pieces

Harbors: You’ll need 9 harbor tokens:

5 special 2:1 tokens (one for each resource) and 4 generic 3:1 tokens.

Terrain & Tokens: Here’s what you’ll need:

I’ve got this really cool game called Catan. It’s all about building and strategizing. The game board is made up of different types of terrain, with each terrain having a certain number of hexes. These hexes are like puzzle pieces that fit together to create the game board.

There are different types of terrain in Catan, such as sea, desert, gold field, fields, hills, mountains, pasture, and forest. Each type of terrain has a specific number of hexes. For example, there are 19 sea hexes, 0 desert hexes, 0 gold field hexes, 5 fields hexes, 4 hills hexes, 4 mountains hexes, 5 pasture hexes, and 5 forest hexes. In total, there are 49 hexes on the Catan game board.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Each hex has a number token on it, which determines the resources that can be collected from that hex. The number tokens range from 2 to 12, and are placed randomly on the hexes. So, depending on where you place your settlements and cities, you’ll get different resources based on the number tokens.

But wait, there’s more! In addition to the hexes and number tokens, there are also Catan chits. These chits are like additional components that add even more variety to the game.

So, to set up the game, you’ll need the game board with all the hexes and number tokens, as well as the Catan chits. Once everything is set up, you’re ready to start playing and building your civilization in Catan!

Let’s get started by following the scenario diagram to put the frame together. First, assemble the frame as shown using the provided hexes. Make sure to shuffle the hexes face down and then randomly place them face up in the frame.

Once all the hexes are in place, it’s time to work with the number tokens. Shuffle all the number tokens and then randomly place one token on each land hex. Remember not to place number tokens on the sea hexes.

Remember: The red number tokens, 6 and 8, cannot be placed on adjacent hexes! If you happen to draw two red numbers together, you must replace the second one with a random token from the stack.

If by some rare chance the last token drawn is a second red number, you’ll need to swap it with another legal token already on the board. To make the swap, all players must agree on which token to replace.

Hey there! Let’s talk about a fun game called Harbor. First, we need to shuffle and stack the harbor tokens with their reverse sides facing up. Then, starting with the oldest player and taking turns, each of us will choose a harbor and place it on an edge between a sea hex and a land hex, or between a land hex and a frame piece. Make sure the harbor token lies on the sea hex or frame piece and that both corners touch the land hex.

Here are Some Additional Rules to Keep in Mind:

Set-up Phase:

During the set-up phase, you’re free to place your starting settlements with roads or ships on any islands you like. You can put both settlements on the same island or separate them onto two different islands. This means that at the beginning of the game, you’ll have either one or two “home islands.” Every other island will be considered a “foreign island” to you.

Don’t forget: If you decide to build a town by the beach, you have the option to put a ship right next to it instead of a road. That way, you can set sail right away.

Arr, me hearties! Let me tell ye about a grand adventure that awaits ye, whether ye be a swashbucklin’ pirate or a cunning robber. Picture this: ye start on the frame just like this diagram shows, and when ye take yer first step, ye become part of the game!

Now, listen carefully, me matey. If ye be bold enough to build a settlement on a faraway island, ye shall be rewarded with a special victory point! Mark that settlement with a Catan chit, and remember, each player can only earn one of these points throughout the game. It don’t matter if other scallywags have already built on the same island!

Now, here be the real treasure, me friend. The game comes to an end when one o’ ye players reaches 12 victory points. That’s the moment ye’ve been fightin’ for!

But wait! If ye don’t fancy the set-up of the hexes – like too many tiny islands or a monstrous main island – fear not! All ye players can come together and agree on some changes. After all, it be a pirate’s life, and we like to have a say in our adventures!
