Nothing Personal Clarifications

Clarity About Nothing Personal

I want to make sure everything is clear regarding the concept of “Nothing Personal”. It can be a confusing term, but I’ll break it down for you. When we talk about “Nothing Personal”, we’re referring to the idea that a situation, action, or decision is not related to you as an individual. It doesn’t mean it’s not important or impactful, but rather that it’s not specifically targeting you or your personal characteristics.

Let me explain this with an example. Say you apply for a job and don’t get selected. It’s natural to feel disappointed, but it’s essential to remember that the rejection is “Nothing Personal”. The decision was likely based on various factors such as qualifications, experience, or fit for the role. It doesn’t reflect on your personal worth or value as an individual.

This concept can be both liberating and challenging. On one hand, it means that the world doesn’t revolve around you, and not everything is a direct reflection of who you are. This can help you develop resilience and not take everything personally. On the other hand, it can be difficult to accept this, especially when we feel hurt or rejected. It’s important to acknowledge and process those emotions, but also to recognize that “Nothing Personal” often plays a part in various situations.

So, the next time you find yourself in a situation where something doesn’t go your way, remember the concept of “Nothing Personal”. It can be a helpful reminder to take a step back, gain perspective, and understand that it’s not always about you. This doesn’t diminish the importance of your feelings, but it may help you navigate through challenging moments with a clearer mindset.

Another D.A. Dead: When I give a card to another player, they have to choose one of the two cards that I drew. I don’t get to decide which one they take.

Delivery Dupes Guards: Sometimes, when we break a Gangster out of Prison, it might be the Gangster that we just sent there. If we all play this card at the same time, we need to decide who goes first.

Fido Fight Club: When I give a card to another player, they have to choose one of the two cards that I drew. I don’t get to decide which one they take.

Gang Wars Go On: Before we remove a Gangster from the board, we have to move their Influence to a different location. The Gang Wars still continue.

Is Jones Joking?: When a Gangster is sent to Prison, all of their Influence is passed on to the new Gangster that takes their place.

“Jones” Rule Passes: When a Gangster is sent to Prison, all of their Influence is passed on to the new Gangster that takes their place.

Sibling Rivalry: When we switch the Gangsters, their Influence stays with them. We don’t move it around.

Wow, what a Jailbreak!: The Gangster getting broken out of prison could actually be the one who was recently sent there. And if there are multiple cards played at the same time, we break ties based on the order of play.

Suspect Silenced: You gotta play this card right when you’re about to grab Respect and money.

Testimony Unsealed: Play this card as soon as someone announces the “Whacking” before rolling the die.

“Whacky” Insurance: You can only play this card if the “Whacking” is a success.

Worth a Thousand Words: Removes the Influence marker from the Blackmail Token as well.

Tom “The Insane” Vaselini: Tom doesn’t lose four Respect for his family unless he fails the mission.

Manny “Curly” Corte: When you give a card to another player, you have to choose one of the two cards you drew.

Marco Zohgoli: So here’s the deal. The die that’s re-rolled can actually come from anyone else playing the game. And get this – it can be any die that has been rolled in the round so far, no matter the reason. Crazy, right?

Morris “Egg” Caruso: Morris has a special ability that allows him to re-roll the dice when he tries to “Whack” someone.

Ryan “The Mouth” D’sturm: When you want to increase your Respect, all you have to do is move your token down on the Respect track. Each space you move earns you $3, up to a maximum of $15.

Game Designer Set

Inside the Game Designer Set, you’ll find 18 cards that belong to the incredible Young Turks Expansion Deck, which you can purchase separately.

Meet Antoine “Death” Bauza: Take a close look at this die. I have the option to roll it again if I want, either by spending $10 or by using a special power. But here’s the catch – if I roll a 1, Antoine doesn’t gain any Respect. On the other hand, if I roll a 6, he gains a whopping 6 Respect.

Now let me introduce you to Bill “The Tiebreaker” Eberle: Bill’s power only comes into play if no other player controls him. If that’s the case, his power has no effect. However, if Bill is under someone’s control, the person with the Capo Ring becomes the ultimate tiebreaker.

Bryan da Pope: Yo, when you roll an “if” in this game, you earn 1 Respect but lose some cash. And if you roll a “Q,” you always get 6.

Chris “Snake” Bollinger: When you roll “Snake,” you make the other player lose 6 Respect.

Colby “the Hat” Dauch: If you and the other player both have no cards, the player you swap with won’t get any cards either (and they probably won’t be too happy about it!)

David “Fairplay” Sirlini: The influence of both Gangsters stays with them when they move. However, David can’t take multiple actions just because he moves up.

Dombino Crapshooti: Dombino can roll his stats multiple times in a round. For instance, if he earns money and Respect, he has to roll the dice twice – once to determine the money and then again for the Respect.

Jason “Twilight” Mateo: When the two Gangsters are swapped, they maintain all of their Influence as they move.

Matt “The Virus” Leacock: If you’re in control of Matt and you have the most money, you have the option to steal from the player who has the second highest amount of money.

Leo “The Coachman” Seyfarth: Leo has the ability to move to an open position, regardless of his current position on the board. He can do this multiple times during a turn, usually after a Whacking or when a Gangster is sent to Prison.

Mike “Machine Gun” Fitz: If your hit is successful, the Gangster you killed still causes the controlling player to lose four Respect.

Ricardo Launius: Even if Richard doesn’t have any suits, you can still gain Influence over him using positional and Gangster powers, as well as discarding a card to put 1 Influence on any Gangster.

Historical Set

The Historical Gangsters Set includes 18 cards and is part of the Young Turks Expansion Deck, which you can buy separately.

Frank “The Enforcer” Nitti: I can use Frank’s power multiple times in one turn. But I have to use it before I roll the die. Once I roll the die to perform a Whacking, I can’t use Frank’s power on that killing anymore. However, I can use Frank’s power to cancel my own attempt to Whack someone.

Bugs Moran: The two Influence that I remove can be any color, even neutral. They don’t have to be from the Influence controlled by the player.

Harvey Bailey: Harvey goes straight to Prison as soon as he comes into play. I can remove 5 Influence from any Gangster(s) on the board, regardless of color and in any combination.

Bonnie Elizabeth Parker and Clyde Chestnut Barrow: Their powers work even if either of them is in an Associate position.

“Big Jim” Colisimo: When “Big Jim” and the Gangster he is exchanging places with move, they both maintain their influence.

Carlos Gambino: Regardless of his current position on the board, Carlos can move to any unoccupied spot while retaining his influence.

“Machine Gun” Kelly: As soon as the assassination is announced, Kelly immediately receives the money.

“Baby Face” Nelson: A successful assassination by Nelson is treated the same as any other, with one key difference – he earns eight Respect instead of the usual four.

Young Turks

The 18 cards in the Young Turks Set belong to the Young Turks Expansion Deck which you can purchase separately.

Geraldo “Bazooka” Chaconichio: If Geraldo has 8 or more Influence markers, we send him straight to Prison. All Influence markers will be given back to the players. This can happen at any time, not just during the Feds phase.
