Example: When I have the Guardians’ Rune of Agility, I can connect it to two Crossbowman tiles, and it will be right next to the Axeman.
This connection is important because it allows both Crossbowmen to use the Rune’s Maneuver Feature, which helps them in battles. However, the Axeman is not connected to the Rune, so it can’t benefit from the Feature. Only the Rune itself can rotate using the Rotation Feature.
But here’s the interesting part: if I rotate the Rune and connect it to the Axeman, the Axeman will be able to use the Maneuver Feature on the current turn.

This Rune of Greater Acceleration connects in three directions. It’s a special tile that helps me remember which tiles have an increased Initiative. I can place a marker on those tiles with the updated Initiative, showing the current value. This way, I don’t have to keep track of the Initiative in my head – the marker does it for me.
Example: Let’s say you have a Champion with 2 Initiative, and you decide to connect the Rune of Greater Acceleration to them. This Rune increases the Initiative by 2, so now the Champion has a total of 4 Initiative. To keep track of this change, you need to place a marker with a value of 4 on the Champion’s tile.
Make sure the marker completely covers the original Initiative value on the tile.
Remember, the marker should be removed if the Champion is no longer influenced by the Rune of Acceleration. However, if the Rune is destroyed during a Battle, you should remove the marker after resolving the phase in which the Rune was destroyed.
Now, in some rare cases, if you happen to stack multiple Runes of Acceleration on the same Champion, their Initiative can go even higher than 4. When this happens, you need to place a marker with a value of 5+ on the tile to show that the Champion’s Initiative is now 5 or more.
When I’m resolving a Battle, I notice that the tiles with the 5+ marker attack first in descending order during their respective phases. It’s interesting how they don’t all attack at once in a single 5+ Initiative Phase. It keeps things unpredictable!

Order Tiles
So, apart from the regular Board tiles, I also have these cool Order tiles. They’re pretty special too and I can only use them during my turn.
But here’s the catch – once I use an Order tile, I have to discard it. It goes to the discard pile and I can’t use it again.
Let me tell you about the General Order tiles. There are also faction-specific Order tiles like False Orders, Precise Shot, Entrenchment, Rotation, and Net. You can find more details about them on the respective faction reference sheets.
Battle
- If you use this tile, the Battle begins. It’s like a signal to start the action!
- But you can’t use this tile if any player has drawn the last tile from their stack. So, timing is important!
Once I use the Battle tile, my turn is over and I can’t use any more of my tile features.

- Now, there are a couple of things you need to know. The enemy tile can only be pushed onto a hex that’s empty, and it has to be just one space away.
- But wait, there’s more! If there’s more than one empty hex available, the player controlling the enemy tile can choose where to move it.
- Here’s the thing though – the tile that gets pushed back can’t be rotated during the move. So keep that in mind!
- Oh, and one more thing. If it’s not possible to create a one-space gap between the tiles, then you can’t use the Push Back tile. It’s a bit of a bummer, but sometimes that’s just how the game goes.

Common Problems
Using Nets
The use of a Net in a game can have a dramatic impact on gameplay. When you place a Net on the board or an enemy tile enters a Netted space, the opponent is immediately disabled. This disabling effect remains in place even if the Net Champion is eliminated during battle. The Net will continue to affect the other tile until the Net Champion is removed from the board.
When a tile is disabled by a Net, it cannot move and therefore cannot be pushed away. However, it is possible to push back the Net Champion, which will release the Netted tile from the Net effect. It’s important to note that this can only be done by another friendly tile, not by the tile that is being disabled.
A Net Champion has the ability to disable another Net Champion, rendering them unable to affect any tiles. This creates an interesting dynamic where players must strategically consider the placement and removal of Nets in order to gain an advantage over their opponents.
If both Net Champions use Nets in each other’s direction, their Nets cancel each other out. This means that both Champions are considered unaffected by Nets and can move normally using Move tiles.

Example: When the Wyrm is equipped with a connected Rune of Greater Acceleration, it gets to attack first in Initiative Phase 4, and then again in Initiative Phase 3.
A tile can only perform an attack (Melee or Ranged) during the phase that matches its Initiative value. For instance, a Champion with an Initiative value of 3 will be disabled by a Net in Initiative Phase 3.
During that same phase, the Net will be destroyed. However, in Initiative Phase 2, even though the Champion is free, it won’t be able to attack because its Initiative value is 3 and that phase is already over.

Usually, tiles remain in the same position once placed on the board. However, there are certain effects in the game that allow you to move your Board tiles. These effects can come from features like Banners, Runes, Features of the tiles themselves, or Move Orders.
There’s no limit to how many moves you can make in your turn using one Board tile, but keep in mind that each move has to be a different action. You can only move one tile once per turn.
Example: I decide to use the Rune of Agility for my Dragon Empire player. I move my Champion to the space next to him. Then, I play a Move Order and move my Knight again.
Lastly, I use the Maneuver Feature of my Knight. I move him next to the enemy Banner, and at the same time, I change the direction he’s facing.
