Game Components:

  • 1 Game Board
  • 4 Magician Miniatures
  • 60 Assistant and Prop Tokens
  • 200 Trick and Assignment Cards
  • 32 Performance Markers
  • 20 Trickerion Shards
  • 50 Coin Tokens
  • 4 Reference Cards
  • 1 Rulebook

Game Setup:

To set up the game, first, place the game board in the center of the play area. Each player chooses a magician miniature and places it on one of the starting locations on the board.

Next, shuffle the Trick cards and form a draw pile. Draw a number of cards based on the number of players and place them face up next to the draw pile to form the Market. Shuffle the Assignment cards and form a separate draw pile, placing a number of cards face up next to it based on the number of players.

Hand out player boards, assistants, and props according to the number of players in the game. Each player also receives a starting set of coins and a Trickerion Shard. The remaining components are placed within reach of all players.

Gameplay:

The game is played over a series of rounds, each divided into four phases: Planning, Action, Delivery, and Recovery.

Planning: During this phase, players secretly choose three actions they want their magician to take. These actions determine the tricks they will perform and the resources they will use.

Action: In this phase, players take turns performing their chosen actions. They can place assistants, gather resources, hire new assistants, learn tricks, and perform tricks on their turn.

Delivery: After all players have taken their actions, the tricks are performed. Each trick requires a certain combination of resources and is valued based on its complexity and the magician’s skill.

Recovery: In the final phase, players recover their assistants, discard any unused cards, and prepare for the next round.

The game continues for a set number of rounds, after which the player with the highest prestige is declared the winner.

Trickerion: Magician Powers is a game that will test your strategic thinking, resource management, and creativity. Will you rise to the challenge and become the most legendary magician of all time?

Hey there! I’ve got some exciting news for you about your favorite game! We’ve just launched a cool new feature called Magician Powers. This awesome addition allows you to customize your Magician and take your gameplay to a whole new level of strategy.

If you want to try out Magician Powers, you’ll need to play with the Dark Alley variant. It’s a perfect match!

New Rules

Here are the important changes you need to know when playing with Magician Powers:

General Setup

First, shuffle each of the three Power decks – yellow, orange, and red. Then, place them face down next to the Main Game Board where you can easily access them. Just like Trick cards, Magician Powers come in different colors and have Fame Thresholds of 1, 16, or 36. You can find the thresholds printed as stars on each side of the card.

Player Setup

When you start playing, I get 4 Magician Powers of each color, which adds up to 12 in total. Then, I take a look at these cards and get rid of any 4 that I don’t want. This way, I end up with 8 Powers that I can use throughout the game.

Instead of just 1 Trickerion Shard, you receive 3 Trickerion Shards at the beginning.

Assignment Phase

When the ‘Assignment’ phase begins, you have the opportunity to learn one Power card.

To learn a Power, you need to place it face up next to the Power slots on the left side of your Player Game Board. However, there are a few conditions that need to be met:

  • The Power card must indicate that it can be placed in a specific slot.
  • The slot needs to be open, and you can do this by using your Trickerion Shards (which I just mentioned).
  • You must meet the Power’s Fame Threshold to put it in the slot. If you don’t, you can pay the difference between your actual Fame and the Fame Threshold using Coins.

If you already have a Power next to a slot, you have to take it back to your hand before placing a new Power there.

Trickerion Shards: A Unique Twist

Hey there! Let me tell you about a cool variant in the game of Trickerion that adds a little extra sparkle – Trickerion Shards. These special game pieces are stored on the Power slots of your Player Game Board. To add them, simply place each Shard you receive on the Shard symbols of the Power slots. But here’s the thing, you have to start from the bottom and work your way up. Begin with the 1 Shard slot and keep stacking upwards. And when it’s time to spend the Shards, you’ll do it from the top down. Simple, right?

Now, pay attention because here’s where it gets interesting. When all the Shard symbols on a Power slot have a Shard on them, that slot is open for business! You can place Powers there and use their amazing abilities. But here’s the twist – when you spend a Shard from a Power slot, the Power gets returned to your hand. Talk about a nifty trick!

But what if you’re lucky enough to have more Shards than you know what to do with? Don’t worry, my friend. In that case, you’ll spend the excess Shards first before delving into the precious ones on your Power slots. Gotta use them wisely!

End of the Game: Calculate Your Fame

Alright, let’s talk about the end of the game. You might be wondering how you’ll score those precious points. Well, my friend, the final scoring is different in this variant. Here’s how it goes:

  • For every 3 leftover Coins you have, you’ll get 1 Fame. It pays to save up!
  • If you have any unused Special Assignment cards in your hand, you’ll earn a fantastic 2 Fame for each one. That’s what I call a bonus!

If you perform Tricks with a Fame Threshold of 36, you have a chance to earn Fame points. Each Trick has a condition printed on the bottom.

If you meet both the condition and the Component requirements of a Trick, you will score a certain amount of Fame at the end of the game.

In this version of the game, Trickerion Shards don’t automatically give you Fame points at the end of the game.
