Welcome to the Terror in Meeple City Game Rules!

So, you’re ready to embark on a thrilling adventure in Meeple City? Well, get ready to face terrifying monsters, destroy buildings, and cause chaos galore! In this game, you get to play as a mighty monster, wreaking havoc and trying to earn the most points. It’s a wild and crazy time!

Overview

Let me give you a quick overview of how the game works. Terror in Meeple City is a dexterity-based game, which means you’ll be using your physical skills to complete challenges. You’ll take turns with the other players, and each turn is divided into two phases: the Destruction Phase and the Action Phase.

The Destruction Phase

In the Destruction Phase, you unleash your inner monster and wreak havoc on the city. You’ll be flicking, blowing, or dropping wooden disks (meeple) onto the board in order to knock over the buildings. The more buildings you destroy, the more points you’ll earn. But be careful not to knock over any of the meeples or your opponents’ monsters! You’ll lose points if you do.

The Action Phase

During the Action Phase, you get to perform special actions that will help you in your quest for monster victory. You can move around the city, eat meeples to gain even more points, or even blow on the buildings to give them a little push. The choice is yours! Just remember, each action you take costs a certain number of cards.

End of the Game

The game ends when all the buildings have been destroyed or all the monsters have been eaten. Once that happens, it’s time to tally up the points. You’ll earn points for the buildings you destroyed, the meeples you ate, and the special objectives you completed.

Conclusion

So, are you ready to become the ultimate monster in Meeple City? Just remember to have fun, embrace the chaos, and use your monster skills to the fullest. Good luck!

Object of the Game

Arriving in Meeple City as a gigantic, hungry monster with scales, my mission is to dig my claws and paws into the roads, demolish buildings, and feast on innocent Meeples. In a nutshell: I get to have fun while spreading terror.

The monster who causes the most destruction wins the game.

Note: Meeple, which is short for “me-pul”, means the little wooden people who act as the city’s residents.

Getting Started

Before you start your first game, you need to set some things up:

Get the Game Board Ready:

  • First, we need to attach the 6 Ruins to the City board. To do this, unwrap the yellow protective film from each Ruin. Now you’re ready to carefully place each Ruin in its designated spot. Remember to match the square Ruins with the square spaces, and the rectangular Ruins with the rectangular spaces. It’s important to make sure that each Ruin is positioned within the sidewalks for a secure fit.

When it comes to building the central Ruin, things are done a bit differently. First, you’ll need to put the game board together using the puzzle piece. Then, take off the protective film from the puzzle piece and place the Ruin on top of it. Just make sure that the Ruin is properly positioned within the sidewalks.

Putting the City Together

  • First, put the game board in the center of the table. Connect the two parts with the central Ruin.
  • Next, follow the illustration to build the Buildings. Pick Meeples randomly from the box to use when constructing buildings. Remember, the color of the Meeples doesn’t matter right now.

Finally, I’m going to put a Meeple on the roof of each Building. I’ll place any remaining Meeples on the stadium in the center of the board. Then, I’ll make sure to put each Vehicle on the space that matches its color. After that, I’ll take the Runaway board and put it on the table, away from the City board. Before I start the game, I’ll need to decide whether to use the A or B side of this board.

  • First, you need to grab a screen and a Monster (Body + Paws) that have the same color as you. Don’t forget to get 4 Teeth tokens and place them in the right spots in the Mouth (screen).
  • Now, it’s time to find a starting area closest to you and put your Monster there. Put the Paws in the starting area first, and then place the Body on top of them.
  • Now, let’s shuffle the cards and give each player one of each type (Character, Power, and Secret Superpower). Any extra cards can go back in the box. It’s time to reveal your Character and Power cards, but keep the Secret Superpower card a secret!

Note: Before we get started, let’s go around the table and introduce our Monsters. Share the name of your Character card and explain how it works. Then, tell us the name of your Power card and explain how that works too.

Let’s Play the Game!

Hey there! So, you wanna play a game where you pretend to be a giant monster? Well, I got you covered! Here’s how it goes:

First things first, the player who can do the best impression of a giant monster gets to start the game. Pretty cool, right? Then, we take turns, going around in a circle. You know, just like passing a ball.

Now, on your turn, you get to do two actions. These actions are really important, so pay attention! You can choose from these actions below. Oh, and here’s the best part – if you want, you can do the same action twice in a row. Whoa!

And then, guess what? Your monster gets hungry! It’s time to chow down, my friend! So, make your moves wisely and let the monster loose!

Let’s Play

Hey there! Ready to have some fun with your Monster? Well, get ready because we’re heading to the playground! Watch as your Monster explores, using its mighty paws to conquer the land!

First things first, let’s get your Monster ready. Take off its body, leaving only the paws on the board. Now, it’s time to move! Flick your finger and send those paws flying to wherever you want your Monster to go. Give it your best shot, but don’t worry if things don’t go exactly as planned. That’s part of the excitement!

Now, listen up: If your Monster’s paws accidentally land outside the City, oh no! Your Monster loses 1 Tooth. Don’t worry, though, you can always get it back. Just put your paws back in an empty starting area and continue with your turn like nothing happened!

Hey, before we continue, let me tell you what to do if your Monster has to lose a Tooth but has none left. Check out the “General Clarifications” for all the details.

Destroy

My Monster eats up a lot of strong concrete every day!

If the Paws token of your Monster is touching the Sidewalk that surrounds a Building, you can try to destroy that Building. To do this, take your Monster’s Body, hold it above the relevant Building, and then drop it on top.

Just to clarify: You can drop the Body from anywhere above the Building, not necessarily right above the Paws. If the Monster misses the Building, it immediately loses 1 Tooth, which goes back in the box!

Throwing a Vehicle

My Monster is determined to qualify for the shot put event at the Olympic Games!

If my Monster happens to be in the same Neighborhood as a Vehicle, I can throw it. Here’s how: I place the Vehicle on top of my Monster’s Body and then I give it a mighty flick with my finger to send it soaring through the air.

Just to be clear: If a Vehicle happens to leave the City, I need to bring it back by placing it on the space that matches its color, just like during the initial setup.

I can hold and tilt my Monster’s Body to perfect my technique when tossing a vehicle. It’s all about precision!

Breathe

My Monster has the amazing ability to expel the questionable substances stored in its glowing glands right onto the pavement!

All you have to do is put your chin on top of your Monster’s Body, take a deep breath in, and exhale forcefully!

Let me explain further: You can hold the Body with one hand if you need to, but make sure you don’t inhale before resting your chin on it.

Brace Yourself for Unexpected Consequences

Life is full of surprises. Sometimes, the choices we make have consequences that we never could have anticipated. We might brave new terrains and step into unfamiliar territories, only to find ourselves facing unanticipated outcomes. It’s like a box of chocolates – you never know what you’re going to get.

Take, for instance, the story of a young girl named Maria. Maria had always dreamed of adopting a kitten. She was captivated by the idea of snuggles and playtime with her furry companion.

One sunny day, Maria finally convinced her parents to go to the shelter and bring home a new family member. They set off on their adventure with excitement coursing through their veins.

When they arrived at the shelter, Maria was in awe of the tiny, meowing bundles of fur. She carefully picked one up and instantly knew that this was the kitten for her. It was love at first meow.

Without a doubt, Maria’s heart was set on this particular kitten. Her parents, seeing the joy in her eyes, decided to fulfill her wish. Little did they know, this decision would lead to unforeseen complications.

As days turned into weeks, Maria’s new kitten, whom she had named Whiskers, began to exhibit some peculiar behavior. Whiskers would scratch everything in sight – the curtains, the furniture, even Maria’s favorite pair of shoes. This behavior left Maria puzzled and feeling a little frustrated.

In her search for answers, Maria stumbled upon an interesting article about cat behavior. She discovered that scratching is a natural instinct for cats. It helps them shed old claw sheaths and mark their territory.

Maria hadn’t realized that adopting Whiskers would also mean dealing with scratched furniture and ruined belongings. She now found herself faced with a conundrum – how could she fulfill her dream of having a kitten without sacrificing her cherished possessions?

Fortunately, Maria soon discovered there were solutions to this problem. Armed with knowledge, she embarked on a mission to redirect Whiskers’ scratching instincts.

She invested in a scratching post and placed it strategically in their home. Every time she saw Whiskers heading toward the curtains or the furniture, she gently scooped him up and guided him towards the post.

Over time, Whiskers learned that the scratching post was the appropriate place for his natural behavior. Maria marveled at how simple it was to solve this unexpected consequence.

The experience taught Maria a valuable lesson – that sometimes, even the most innocent and well-intentioned choices can result in unintended side effects. It reminded her to think beyond the immediate gratification and consider the long-term impact of her decisions.

So, dear reader, the next time life throws you a curveball, remember Maria and her mischievous feline friend. Don’t be discouraged when you encounter unexpected consequences. Instead, embrace them as opportunities for growth, learning, and creative problem-solving. Life may not always be a bed of roses, but it sure keeps us on our toes!

Boom!

I’m gonna smack you right in the face with my flying paw!

If you manage to knock down another Monster’s body, whether we’re in the City or not, I get to yank out one of its four teeth. Then, I’ll take that tooth and put it in my belly.

That body stays put, like a big obstacle, if it’s in the City. And as long as it stays on the ground, the poor Monster can’t lose any more teeth. But don’t worry, on the next turn, their player can pick up the body and put it back on its feet before doing anything else.

Just so you know: If a Monster isn’t on its feet, but its body is still standing, that means it hasn’t fallen over, and I can’t take out a tooth and claim it. Bummer!

Chowing Down on Buildings

Yum! I love munching on buildings. That concrete is delicious!

Have you ever wondered what happens when there are no objects on a Floor in the game? Well, let me tell you. If there are no Monsters, Vehicles, Meeples, or other objects on a Floor after someone takes an action, then that Floor becomes free for the taking!

Imagine this: you’re playing the game, and all of a sudden, you manage to clear out all the objects from a Floor. It’s like finding a hidden treasure! You get to claim that Floor as your own and add it to your Stomach. It’s a thrilling feeling, let me tell you.

Now, here’s a little clarification for you: don’t forget that Monsters have a big appetite. If there are multiple empty Floors in a row, a Monster can gobble them up one after another. Talk about a feast!

Watch Out for those Meeples!

How to play Terror in Meeple City Official Rules UltraFoodMess

In the midst of all the chaos around us, it’s the clearest-thinking Meeples that will make a run for it and try to escape the city! If you manage to get your Meeples out of the city during your turn, you should place them on the Runaway board.

Now, let me explain what it means for a Meeple to run away from the City. The Meeple is considered to have run away if it’s no longer touching the game board. Simple, right?

Let’s talk about Side A of the Runaway board. This is where you’ll place the Meeples, starting from the top line and working your way down. Whenever a line gets filled up, the active player will suffer the negative effects once they finish their current action. Ouch!

Here’s something important to note: multiple negative effects can be triggered at the same time. So, watch out!

On the 1st and 4th lines, when they get filled, it’s bad news for the Monster. It loses 1 of its Teeth and goes back into the box. But that’s not all! The next player gets to take the current player’s Monster and put it in the Neighborhood of their choice. Talk about a double whammy!

In this game, I discovered a fascinating mechanic called Teeth & Talons. Let me explain how it works.

First, let’s take a look at Side A. On the 2nd and 5th lines, something interesting happens. The Monster loses one of its Teeth. But here’s the twist – all the other players get one extra action until it’s the Monster’s turn again. It’s like a little setback for the Monster, but it’s a boon for everyone else.

Moving on to the 3rd line, the Monster loses two of its Teeth! That’s a bigger blow, but hey, it adds to the excitement of the game.

Now, here’s where things really get intense. On the 6th line, there’s an event that can completely change the course of the game. If this event is triggered, the game ends immediately! But here’s the catch – the players have to tally up their points to see who wins, except for the player who caused the event. That player actually loses right away! Talk about a high-stakes twist!

Now, let’s shift our attention to Side B of the game. Here’s what happens with the Meeples on the Runaway board. When the Meeples are placed in their respective color zones, things get interesting. When a zone fills up, the active player has to bear the negative effect after they finish their current action. Then, they have to return those Meeples to the box to empty the zone. It’s like a risky move with consequences, but that’s what makes the game thrilling!

For example, let’s look at the Red Meeples, also known as Heroes. When a zone for Red Meeples is full, something special happens. It’s called a Heroic Save! The active Monster loses one of its Teeth, and the player gets to return four Meeples of their choice from the Monster’s Stomach back to the game box. It’s a chance to turn the tides in your favor, but you have to be strategic about it.

See, Teeth & Talons is not just an ordinary game. It’s a game that keeps you on your toes, constantly adapting to unexpected twists and turns. Whether it’s losing Teeth or dealing with the consequences of filling up zones, this game is designed to keep you engaged and thinking. So if you’re up for a thrilling challenge, Teeth & Talons is the game for you!

  • Blue Meeples (Journalists): The Perfect Story! When I play this card, the Monster I’m targeting loses 1 of its Teeth. I also get to choose one card from my hand and discard it.
  • Green Meeples (Soldiers): Air Strike! If I play this card, the Monster I’m targeting loses 2 of its Teeth.
  • Yellow Meeples (Blondes): Mass Hysteria! When I use this card, the Monster I’m targeting loses 1 of its Teeth. But that’s not all – until it’s the Monster’s turn again, all the other players get an extra action!
  • Black Meeples (Businessmen): Relocation! Playing this card forces the Monster I’m targeting to lose 1 of its Teeth. And just to make it more interesting, the next player gets to take control of the Monster and place it in any Neighborhood they choose.
  • Gray Meeples (Old Folks): The Old Folks are pretty harmless. They don’t do anything on Side B of the Runaway board, so you can just put them back in the box.

Clarification: Sometimes, several effects can happen all at once. (Ouch!) And if there are enough Meeples of the same color running away together, the same effect can happen more than once.

Time to Eat

How to play Terror in Meeple City Official Rules UltraFoodMess

If you don’t finish your meal, you won’t get any dessert!

Once the Monster finishes its two actions, it’s time to chow down!

Your Monster can eat the Meeples in its current Neighborhood. But, only if they’re accessible and not supporting any game elements. Your Monster can eat as many Meeples as it has Teeth! Put the eaten Meeples in your Stomach.

Some clarifications:

– At the start of the game, a Monster has 6 Teeth (2 permanent and 4 breakable).

– A Monster always has at least 2 Teeth (the ones shown on the screen can’t be lost).

– If a Monster’s Paws are on multiple Neighborhoods, choose one Neighborhood to eat from.

– Remember, Meeples on Ruins or Sidewalks can’t be eaten because they’re not in a Neighborhood.

Game Over

When we reach the end of the game, things get really exciting. One of two things can trigger the end: either a player eats up the last Floor tile or knocks down the City tile. When that happens, the player who triggered the end gets one final turn, and then it’s everyone else’s turn to wrap things up. Once that’s done, the game comes to a close, and it’s time to see who came out on top.

(Alternatively, if the sixth line on side A of the Runaway board gets completely filled, the game ends immediately. In this case, the player who filled that line is the loser, and everyone else gets to calculate their scores).

Now, it’s time to see how much destruction each player’s Monster has caused:

How to play Terror in Meeple City Official Rules UltraFoodMess

I’m going to break it down for you. So, when you have six Meeples in different colors – one black, one gray, one red, one blue, one green, and one yellow – you score 10 points. But here’s the catch: any extra Meeples don’t count for any points.
