Terramara Game Rules

Hello there! Welcome to the world of Terramara, a thrilling game that will transport you to a land full of adventure and excitement. In this game, you will take on the role of a leader of a prehistoric tribe. Your goal is to guide your tribe to prosperity and ensure its survival in the face of challenges and obstacles.

Now, let’s dive into the rules of the game and discover how to play:

Setting Up the Game

Before we start playing, we need to set up the game board and prepare the necessary components. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Game Board: Lay out the game board in the center of the table. This board represents the prehistoric world that your tribe will explore and inhabit.
  2. Resource Tokens: Place the resource tokens in a pile next to the game board. These tokens represent the valuable resources that your tribe needs to thrive.
  3. Technology Tiles: Shuffle the technology tiles and place them face-down next to the game board. These tiles represent the advancements your tribe can acquire.
  4. Tribe Tiles: Shuffle the tribe tiles and deal each player a random tile. This tile represents the starting resources and special ability of each player’s tribe.
  5. Leader Tiles: Shuffle the leader tiles and deal one to each player. These tiles represent the leaders of your tribe and provide unique powers.
  6. Starting Resources: Give each player the resources depicted on their tribe tile.
  7. Starting Player: Determine the starting player and give them the first player token. The starting player will take the first turn of the game.

Gameplay

The game is played over a series of rounds, with each round consisting of three phases: the Production Phase, the Action Phase, and the Council Phase. Let’s go through each phase in detail:

Production Phase

In the Production Phase, you will produce resources for your tribe. Follow these steps:

  1. Collect Food: Each player collects food equal to the number of huts they have built.
  2. Collect Materials: Each player collects materials equal to the number of technology tiles they have researched.
  3. Produce Civilians: Each player places one civilian on their tribe tile for each food they have collected.

Action Phase

In the Action Phase, you will take turns performing actions. On your turn, you can choose to perform one of the following actions:

  1. Explore: Place one of your civilians on an unoccupied territory on the game board to explore it. You may gain resources, technology tiles, or other benefits.
  2. Build: Spend resources to build huts and advance your tribe. Huts provide ongoing benefits and allow you to collect more food in future rounds.
  3. Research: Spend resources to research technology tiles. These tiles give your tribe new abilities and advantages.
  4. Trade: Spend resources to trade with another player. This can be beneficial for both parties involved.
  5. Activate Leader Power: Use the special power of your leader tile to gain an advantage.

Each action requires resources, so make sure you manage them wisely and plan your moves strategically.

Council Phase

The Council Phase is the final phase of each round. In this phase, you will score victory points based on your achievements, such as the number of huts you have built, the technology tiles you have researched, and the territories you have explored. The player with the most victory points at the end of the game wins!

Final Thoughts

Well, that’s the essence of Terramara! Remember, the key to success is careful resource management, strategic decision-making, and a bit of luck. So gather your tribe, embark on this prehistoric adventure, and may the best leader thrive in the world of Terramara!

Let me tell you about Terramara. It’s this really cool archaeological site in northern Italy that dates back to 1,500 BC. It’s made up of a bunch of villages built on stilts, called palafitte villages. The people who lived in Terramara were really interesting – they were traders and would travel between the Alps and the river Po.

Now, imagine yourself as the chieftain of one of these villages. You’re in charge, and your mission is to make your clan the best it can be. How? Well, you’ll have to explore new lands, improve your army, and visit these things called Outposts.

Getting Ready

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Alright, here’s the plan. Let’s start by putting together the game board frame using the 8 puzzle pieces. Make sure all the icons are facing up and place it in the middle of the table so everyone can reach it easily. Now, each player needs a few things in their chosen color:

First, grab the Hut card and put it face-up on the table. You’ll find the game-end scoring on the back of this card, so keep it handy. Next, each player needs 4 Flags. These come in handy later on. Place a Military token on the first space of the Military track. Now, get the 2 Caravans and put them on the top space of the Road. One more thing for now – grab the Canoe and put it on the starting space of the River.

Almost there! Each player needs a Chieftain and 5 Explorers. Place one of the Explorers next to the River – the other 5 Explorers will come into play later. Oh, and if you’re playing with 2 or 3 players, you’ll need that 6th Explorer too, but only if a certain Character is selected.

Alright, we’re all set up and ready to go!

To get started with the game, follow these steps:

1. Arrange the Homeland tiles in the topmost slot of each column. The left tile should have a 4-player game icon, while the right tile should have a 3- and 4-player game icon.

2. Organize the Forest/Mountain tiles by level. Pick two tiles randomly for each level. Place them in the slots of the right column, from top to bottom. Begin with two level-1 tiles, then two level-2 tiles, and finally two level-3 tiles. Make sure the front sides of the tiles, which display resource spaces but no snow, face up. Repeat this process for the Plains/Quarry tiles in the slots of the left column.

3. Put the Round Marker on the first space of the Rounds track.

And now you’re ready to start playing!

  • First, let’s organize the Worker tiles based on their level. Then, we’ll distribute 2 Worker tiles to each space on the Rounds track, following this pattern: level-1 Workers for rounds 1 & 2, level-2 Workers for rounds 3 & 4, and level-3 Workers for round 5.
  • Next, we’ll choose a first player and give them the First Player card. Place the card face-up on the table, but don’t worry about its effects at the moment.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let me walk you through the setup process for this awesome game.

First things first, we need to get the Bonus tiles ready. You know what to do, right? Sort those tiles by level and place them face-down on the designated spots along the River, Road, and the two level-3 Plains/Quarry tiles. Once you’re done, turn all the Bonus tiles face-up. If there are any leftover tiles, we can use them later if someone chooses a specific Character at the beginning of the game.

Now, let’s get the Artifact cards in order. We’ll need to sort and shuffle them by level. Start by putting the level-3 cards at the bottom of the deck, followed by the level-2 cards in the middle, and finally the level-1 cards on top. Once you’ve done that, draw the top 8 cards from the deck and place them from left to right below the game board in the spots along the River.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Okay, let’s get started! Grab those Warriors and place them on the game board. The number of Warriors you’ll need will vary depending on where the Territory tiles are positioned.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let’s talk about setting up the game of Terramara. First things first, place the Resource tiles and Victory Point tiles next to the game board, where everyone can easily reach them.

    What You Need to Know

    Resources

In Terramara, there are four types of resources you’ll come across. Each resource tile has a raw side with a round frame and a refined side with a square frame. It’s important to keep your raw resources on the left side of your Hut and your refined resources on the right side. Here are the different types of resources available:

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess
I want to call your attention to the first resource: Livestock – Leather
How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess
Next up is Stone – Ashlar.
How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess
And last but not least, Wood – Lumber.
How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess
    Ore – Metal

Hey there! Let’s talk about resources in TerraMara. Did you know that raw resources can’t be used in place of refined ones? Yeah, it’s true! Refined resources, on the other hand, can be used instead of their raw versions. So, if you have some Metal, you can use that instead of Ore, but you can’t do the opposite.

Now, let’s dive into refined resources. These are super important because they’re used to create Artifacts. And who doesn’t love Artifacts, right?

    Workers

Workers play a crucial role in refining raw resources. Each worker has a level: 1, 2, or 3. When you want to activate a worker, just rotate their tile 90 degrees to show that they’ve been used. By doing this, you can transform raw resources into their refined versions. The cool thing is that the number of resources you can transform depends on the worker’s level. For example, a level-1 worker can transform 1 raw resource, while a level-3 worker can transform up to 3 raw resources.

When you’re playing the game, keep in mind that you can only use each Worker tile once every round. It doesn’t matter when during your turn you choose to use it. However, any extra capacity that you don’t use when activating the Worker will be lost for that round.

    Level-2 (front & back)

    Level-3 (front & back)

    Artifacts

Artifacts are a great way to enhance your clan’s Culture, Travel, and Military Strength. They can earn you a substantial number of Victory Points at the end of the game, while also granting you special abilities.

Did you know that there are 4 categories of Artifact cards? They are Tools, Weaponry, Pottery, and Clothing. Each category is based on the main resource needed to create the artifact.

Artifact cards come in three levels, and you can distinguish them by looking at the backside and the frame.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you play the game, scoring victory points (VP) at the end is important. But did you know that most Artifacts also have special effects during the game? There are four different types of effects, each triggering at a specific time:

    • Permanent effects How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess last for the entire game. Whenever the trigger condition is met, the effect is applied.
    • Instantaneous effects How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess are applied as soon as the Artifact is created, happening only once.
    • Once-per-round effects How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess can be used during your turn, but only once per round. To show that the effect has been used, rotate the card 90 degrees.

Let’s talk about the different effects in the game and how they can help you score points. At the end of the game, there are certain conditions you need to meet in order to score victory points. These conditions are known as game-end effects, and they can have a big impact on your final score.

Now, let’s move on to artifact effects. These effects are optional, meaning you don’t have to use them if you don’t want to. They can give you advantages in the game, but you’re never required to use them. For example, if an Artifact awards you 3 Travel, you can choose to take 0, 1, 2, or 3 steps on the Road. It’s up to you how much you want to benefit from these effects.

When starting the game, we recommend playing your first game without Character and Starting Resources cards. Instead, each player will start with 1 of each of the 4 different raw resources, 1 Level-1 Worker, and 1 Culture. Place each player’s Canoe on the first space of the River, instead of the starting space. This will give everyone an equal start and allow you to focus on learning the basic mechanics of the game.

Finally, let’s talk about Military Strength. The Military Strength is set according to player order, with the first player gaining 1 Military, the second player gaining 2, and so on. This will determine your strength and influence in military-related actions throughout the game.

Remember, understanding these effects and strategies will help you make better decisions and increase your chances of winning. So, don’t forget to consider them when playing TerraMara. Happy gaming!

So, here’s the deal: once we all know how to play the game, here’s the best way to set things up. First, let’s choose our Characters and Starting Resources. It’s pretty easy – just follow these steps:

Step 1: Randomly pick a number of Character cards (make sure they’re facing the “young” side) and Starting Resources cards equal to one more than the number of players in the game. Lay them out so everyone can see.

Step 2: Now, let’s start picking! We’ll go in reverse player order, which means the last player gets to choose first. Each player can either pick a Character card or a Starting Resources card. Take your time and choose wisely!

Step 3: We’re almost there! Now, it’s time to switch things up. We’ll go in regular player order, starting with the first player. This time, though, everyone has to choose the opposite type of card they picked before. So, if you chose a Character card first, now you have to pick a Starting Resources card, and vice versa. And don’t worry, if there are any unchosen Character cards left, we’ll just put them back in the box.

And that’s it! Now we’re all set and ready to play. Have fun!

Today, we’ll delve into the captivating world of Terramara. Are you ready to embark on an epic journey? Let’s go!

To begin, the game of Terramara unfolds over 5 rounds. Starting with the first player and moving clockwise, each player takes the resources indicated on their Starting Resources cards. These cards offer a range of valuable assets, such as raw and refined resources, as well as Workers, Military, Culture, Travel, and VP. Once the resources have been collected, the Starting Resources cards are returned to the box.

It’s important to remember that the bonuses provided by Character cards do not apply to Starting Resources cards. Keep this in mind as you strategize your next move.

Now, let’s dive into the gameplay itself. Each round of Terramara begins with the first player and continues in a clockwise fashion. On your turn, you must send out one of your clan members, either an Explorer or your esteemed Chieftain. Remember, the size of your clan may change throughout the game, but a turn only concludes once all players have dispatched all their clan members.

When sending out a clan member, you have two options. You can choose to send them to a Homeland action space or a Territory action space. These spaces offer unique opportunities and possibilities for growth and development. The choice is yours!

Terramara is a game of strategy and decision-making. Will you focus on building a prosperous homeland or venture out into uncharted territories? The path you choose will shape your destiny in this captivating journey.

So gather your resources, summon your clan, and prepare to conquer the world of Terramara. May your choices be wise and your adventures unforgettable!

I love to explore the different action spaces in board games. It’s fascinating how they provide various opportunities and challenges. One such action space is the crossroads, where I get to make critical decisions that can affect the course of the game.

Then there’s the special action space, which offers unique benefits and often requires strategic thinking. It’s like discovering a hidden treasure that can give you an edge over your opponents.

And, of course, there’s your Hut, a space that is exclusively yours. It’s like your own little kingdom within the game, where you can plan and strategize without interference. It’s a comforting space that offers a sense of security and control.

It’s incredible how these action spaces add depth and excitement to the game. Each one presents a different set of possibilities and challenges, making every playthrough unique. So, when you’re exploring a new board game, don’t forget to pay attention to these action spaces. They can truly elevate your gaming experience.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you want to take certain actions in the game, you need to place your clan members in specific spaces. Each action space can hold a maximum of two clan members, but only one of each color. If you have a Chieftain on an action space, no other clan members can go there. However, there are some action spaces that can only hold one clan member, regardless of color.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Let’s talk about explorers! You can send explorers to any action space, but if you send them to future territories, they won’t come back at the end of the round.

These explorers will stay there until the round when those territories get flipped. Just remember that if you send explorers to territories next to round 5, they won’t come back because those tiles won’t be flipped.

If there is already one explorer in a space, you can send your chieftain or another explorer. But make sure your military strength is higher than the player already there if you want to send an explorer.

When you send one of your Explorers to an action space that is already occupied by another player’s Explorer, you will lose 1 Military point. You can choose to do this, even if losing that point would make your Military Strength equal to the player who has their Explorer there.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Guess what? You can NEVER send Chieftains to future action spaces. Yeah, it’s a bummer, I know. But don’t worry, I’m here to break it down for you.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Example 1: It’s now my turn in the 2nd round and I’m playing as the red player. On the right side, you can see the action spaces where I can send my clan member legally. Keep in mind that there are also some placements that are not allowed, and I’ll show you some examples of those below.

Once I send out my clan member and complete the associated action, I have two options:

    • Create an Artifact of my choice from the ones available to me along the River. You can find more information about this on page 11.
    • Create an Artifact that I have previously reserved.
    • Reserve an Artifact of my choice from the ones available to me along the River. When I do this, I take the Artifact and place it face-down in front of me. This way, no other player can reserve or create that Artifact. However, it’s important to note that at the end of the game, if any player has a reserved Artifact, they will lose 5 VP.

Hey there! You can only reserve an Artifact once your Canoe reaches or goes past the 4th space on the River, and remember that you can’t have more than one reserved Artifact. Artifacts along the River can still be created just like before.

Once you reserve an Artifact, you can’t get rid of it. You need to create it first before reserving another one.

To create an Artifact, you have to pay its resource cost to the general supply, and then you get to keep it in front of you. As soon as you create an Artifact (not when you reserve it), you get to enjoy its benefits right away.

Whenever you create or reserve an Artifact, if needed, cards in the River will slide to the left, and the empty spaces will be filled from the Artifact deck.

    Homeland Action Spaces

Hey there! Let me break things down for you. See, when playing this game, the number of spots where you can send your clan members is related to the number of players. The rule of thumb is that there should always be one more spot than the number of players.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

In this article, let’s talk about a fun and challenging game called “Foursquare”. I want to share with you the excitement that comes with playing this game and the strategy involved in winning. So, what is Foursquare? Well, it’s quite simple. Foursquare is a game that can be played by four players. There are two different tile setups depending on whether you are playing with three or four players. When playing with four players, you will use the tile that has four player spaces on it. On the other hand, when playing with three players, you will use the tile that has three player spaces on it. This differentiation ensures that the game is fair and balanced no matter the number of players.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Welcome! I’m here to help you choose the right tile for your game. Let’s talk about the different options available to you.

When it comes to game tiles, there are a few things to keep in mind. One important factor is the number of players you have. Do you have three players or four players?

If you have three players, you’ll want to choose the tile on the left. It’s specifically designed for two or three players, and it will be perfect for your game. On the other hand, if you have four players, the tile on the right is the one you need. It’s made for three or four players, and it will suit your needs perfectly.

It’s important to understand that these tiles are specifically designed for different numbers of players. This means that they will provide the best gameplay experience for the number of players they are intended for. So, if you choose the wrong tile, you may not get the best experience possible.

Now that you know about the different tiles available, I hope it’s easier for you to make a decision. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. I’m here to help you!

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

In this game, there are two types of players: those who play with a 2/3-player tile and those who play with a 2-player tile. Let me explain the actions you can take in a 4-player game, which are also available in a 3-player game, although in the latter certain actions are grouped together.

Now, let’s talk about a 2-player game. In a game with only two players, there are two actions grouped together: Execute a Raid and Become First Player. You can take these actions in any order you prefer.

One of the actions available to you is to Hire a Worker. By sending one of your clan members to this action space, you can recruit a worker. The level of this worker depends on the current round. If it’s rounds 1 or 2, you’ll receive a level-1 worker. If it’s rounds 3 or 4, you’ll get a level-2 worker. Finally, if it’s round 5, you’ll be rewarded with a level-3 worker.

Hey there! Let’s talk about some cool things you can do in this game.

First up, if you send one of your clan members to the action space called “Develop your Skills,” you’ll boost your Military and Culture by 1 each. So you can become stronger and more cultured at the same time!

Next, we have the “Travel the Road” action space. If you send a clan member there, you’ll get a sweet bonus of 2 Travel points. With these points, you can move your Caravans around. You can either move all of them once, or choose one Caravan and move it up to two times. It’s like going on an exciting adventure!

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

So, here’s the thing: when you want to launch a raid, you have to sacrifice 1 Military point. But here’s the catch – everyone else has to give you resources based on their own Military Strengths. It’s like a little payment for invading their territory, you know?

The Military system is divided into 4 levels. Right below each raider’s Power Level, you’ll see how many resources the other players need to hand over to you. It’s pretty straightforward, really.

Now, here’s the important part: the actual number of Military Strength doesn’t matter. It’s all about the difference in Power Level. So, as long as you have a higher Power Level, everyone else has to pay up.

    • If someone has the same Power Level as you, they have to give you 1 resource for every 5 they own. Seems fair, right?
    • If someone is 1, 2, or 3 levels below you, they have to give you 1 resource for every 4, 3, or 2 resources they have, respectively. That’s just the way it goes.

    Raider Resource Rule

I want to talk about a rule in the game that I found really interesting. It’s called the Raider Resource Rule and it affects the way players interact with each other. Let me break it down for you:

    • If a player is 1 level higher than the raider, they have to give the raider 1 resource for every 6 resources they have.
    • If a player is 2 levels higher than the raider, they have to give the raider 1 resource for every 7 resources they have.
    • If a player is 3 levels higher than the raider, they have to give the raider 1 resource for every 8 resources they have.

Isn’t that interesting? It’s a rule that adds an extra layer of strategy to the game, and it really makes you think about how you interact with other players. I love rules like this because they make the game more exciting and dynamic. What do you think?

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Here’s the scoop: If I, as a red player, have a Power Level of 2 and you, as a blue player, also have a Power Level of 2, I’ll get 1 resource from you for every 5 resources you have. And let’s say there’s a green player with a Power Level of 1. I’ll grab 1 resource from them for every 4 resources they have.

Now, when I raid, I can grab both raw and refined resources. But here’s the deal: you get to choose which resources you want to give me, the raider. If you have fewer resources than the threshold, no worries, you don’t have to give me anything. It’s up to you!

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Hey there! So here’s the deal: you can only use this action space once per round.

To become the First Player: all you have to do is send one of your clan members to this action space. By doing that, you’ll get the First Player card, which means you’ll be the first to play in the next round. Pretty cool, right? Oh, and as a bonus, you’ll also move one step forward along the road. However, the second player won’t get anything out of it. But hey, if you’re the third player in the new turn order, you’ll immediately gain 1 Culture, and if you’re the fourth player, you’ll get 2 Military points. Not too shabby, huh?

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Once per round, you have the opportunity to claim this action space. It’s an important move that can only be used once, so choose wisely!

As the game enters its final round, the tension rises. At the start of this fifth and last round, flip the First Player card over. Here’s where things get interesting: if you send one of your clan members to this action space in the final round, you can choose to gain 2 Travel, 2 Military, or 2 Culture. It’s a tough decision, but the beauty of it is that it won’t affect the other players.

    Let’s Talk Territory Action Spaces

Now, let’s move on to Territory action spaces. Each Territory tile has not one, not two, but three action spaces. Don’t be fooled by the lines that divide them; the small and large action spaces work in exactly the same way. The only time size matters is when setting up the game for 2- and 3-player matches.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you send one of your clan members to a Territory action space, you immediately reap the benefits indicated on that particular space.

Usually, this means you’ll receive a combination of raw and refined resources. It also gives you the opportunity to refine raw resources into more valuable ones. Some action spaces may even grant you Military, Travel, Culture, or other advantageous effects.

    The Crossroads Action Spaces

The Crossroads action spaces are found on the back of the level 1 and 2 Forest/Mountain tiles. These spaces become available once the rightmost Territory tile in a row is flipped over at the end of a turn.

During the 2nd round, the Crossroads action space from the 1st round becomes available. In the 3rd round, the Crossroads action spaces from the 1st and 2nd round become available, and this pattern continues.

Hey there! Did you know that in order to send a clan member to a Crossroads action space, you need to make sure that both of your Caravans have reached or gone past the Crossroads?

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Discover the Extraordinary Special Action Spaces in Round 5

Wow, have you heard about the level-3 Forest/Mountain tiles? They are like hidden gems that unleash special actions in the fifth round. I couldn’t believe it either, but it’s true! Just hold on tight because you won’t be able to send any clan members to these spaces until the start of round 5. But don’t worry, I’ll tell you all about the requirements to access these one-of-a-kind spaces.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

If the sum of your Workers’ levels is at least 5, I have a pleasant surprise for you! You’ll gain 1 point in Military, Culture, and Travel. But that’s not all! You’ll also receive a refined resource of your choice. Exciting, isn’t it?

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Did you ever want to grab that symbol on the River? Well, I have some exciting news for you! If you manage to reach or pass this symbol, you’re in for a treat. But let me tell you, it’s not just about the prize you’ll receive.

When you reach or pass this symbol, guess what? You not only get to take it, but you also get a refined resource as a bonus! And that’s not all – scoring 3 victory points is the cherry on top. Can you believe it?

Let me break it down for you. When you’re playing this game, keep your eyes peeled for that special symbol on the River. It’s like a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. And when you do find it, not only do you get to claim it as your own, but you also receive a refined resource of your choice. I mean, talk about a win-win situation, right?

But wait, there’s more! On top of claiming the symbol and receiving a refined resource, you also get to score 3 victory points. Now, I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. It’s like hitting the jackpot!

So, remember, keep your eyes open for that symbol on the River. Not only does it hold the key to an awesome prize, but it also grants you a refined resource and victory points. It’s like a triple threat! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this amazing opportunity. Trust me, you’ll thank me later!

When you see this symbol on the Road, make sure both of your Caravans reach it or go beyond it.

This is when you’ll get any 3 refined resources.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you reach or surpass this symbol on the Military track, something special happens.

You receive a valuable reward: any two refined resources. But that’s not all. You also have the power to transform one raw resource into its corresponding refined version.

    Let’s talk about your Hut.

Imagine a place where you can gather with your clan members, including the mighty Chieftain. That place is your Hut.

Inside your Hut, you can gather as many clan members as you like. Each member serves a purpose and contributes to your clan’s success.

Here’s the exciting part: you have options. You can either:

    Getting Started with Each Round

When we begin rounds 2-5, we need to follow a set of instructions. You can find these instructions on the Rounds track as well.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

    • Round 2: Take out all the level-1 Artifact cards from the Artifact deck.
    • Round 3: Get rid of all the level-1 Artifact cards from the River and then fill it up again.
    • Round 4: Remove all the level-2 Artifact cards from the Artifact deck.
    • Round 5: Clear out all the level-2 Artifact cards from the River and then refill it. Flip the First Player card (the first player doesn’t change).

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you’re about to take your first action in a round, you can choose to flip your Character card over, going from “young” to “experienced”.

By doing this, you’ll lose the advantages of the front side but gain the advantages of the backside. Remember, you can only do this once per game, and once you’ve made the decision, there’s no going back.

Reaching the End of the Round

When rounds 1-4 come to an end, it’s time to follow these steps:

    • Take back your clan members from all action spaces, except for those placed on future action spaces.
    • Flip over the two Territory tiles next to the Round Marker. Here, you’ll find a Crossroads action space and an Outpost that you can now visit.
    • Let’s get started! First, I’ll rotate all the used Worker tiles and “once per round” Artifacts to their normal orientation. This means they’re ready to be used again. Then, I’ll move the Round Marker to the next space on the Rounds track to keep things moving.

Now, let’s talk about the Military aspect of the game. Each player has a Military token on the Military track, which shows their Military Strength. When you gain Military, you can move your token forward a certain number of spaces on the track, depending on how much strength you gained. Keep in mind that some actions may cause you to lose Military, which will move your token backward on the track.

That’s it! We’ve covered the important mechanics of the game. Remember, as you play, pay attention to your Military Strength and make strategic moves to stay ahead. Have fun conquering!

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you reach the end of this track, which happens after the 20th space, you can’t move any further. Instead, you’ll earn 1 VP for each additional Military that you would have gained. But keep in mind, you can still lose Military and move backward on the track.

This track is divided into 4 areas, and the first space of each area displays a shield. The shield represents the Power Level of a player who has reached or passed that space.

Remember: Military Strength is not the same as Power Level. Military Strength ranges from 0 to 20 and shows a player’s overall strength. On the other hand, Power Level is represented by shields, indicating levels 1-4. Your Power Level determines how many resources you receive from other players during a Raid.

So, here’s the deal. When the game is over, the player who has the most Military Strength is going to get some serious points – 8 VP to be exact. And guess what? The next two players with the highest Military Strength will also score some points, but not as many. They get 5 VP and 2 VP, respectively. Pretty cool, right?

Now, I should mention that if there’s a tie, things get interesting. All the players who are tied will score the same amount of VP. No need to worry about missing out on those points! But here’s the catch: if there are a lot of tied players, the next position(s) might not get any points. Tough luck for those folks, I guess.

Example 1: The blue and yellow players both score 8 VP, but the 5 VP for second place on the Military track won’t count. As a result, the red player scores 2 VP and the green player doesn’t score any VP.

Example 2: The blue, yellow, and green players all score 8 VP. However, neither the 5 VP for second place nor the 2 VP for third place will be counted. The red player doesn’t score any VP.

      Road

On the road, each player has two Caravans. Whenever you gain Travel, you can move your Caravans a certain number of steps, up to the indicated number. One step means moving a Caravan to the next Crossroads, a bonus tile, or an Outpost.

When you visit a bonus tile or an Outpost, you have to take a detour, so it takes a total of 2 steps to reach the next Crossroads.

So, here’s the deal. Movement in this game is split between caravans. It’s important to note that caravans can’t move backwards on the road. Now, when one of your caravans reaches or passes a bonus tile, you get to immediately apply the effect shown on that tile. Pretty cool, huh?

But wait, there’s more! When you reach an outpost, you leave one of your flags there. At the end of the game, you score victory points based on how well you met that outpost’s requirements. Just remember, you can only leave one flag on each outpost. No cheating!

Now, here’s a little tip for you. Outposts become available at the end of each round when a level 1 or level 2 territory tile is turned over. Before that, you can’t travel over the road leading to the outpost. So keep your eyes peeled for those territory tiles, because that’s your ticket to visit the outposts with your caravan.

Alright, that’s all you need to know about movement and outposts. Now, go out there and conquer the road!

Note: I want to point out an important detail regarding the VPs (Victory Points). Each player can score VPs for each individual Caravan they have. So, it’s possible for one player to score both the 8 VP and the 5 VP spaces if their Caravans reach the end of the road before anyone else.

      Outposts

Let’s talk about Outposts. These special places are shown on the other side of the level 1 & 2 Plains/Quarry tiles. They come into play when the leftmost Territory in a row is flipped over at the end of each round. If one of your Caravans reaches an Outpost, you can score points.

Starting from the 2nd round, the Outpost from the 1st round becomes available. Then, in the 3rd round, you can use the Outposts from the 1st and 2nd rounds, and so on.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When the game ends, you earn victory points (VP) based on how well you completed the objectives of the Outposts where you placed your Flag. Each Outpost has three levels of difficulty: easy, medium, and hard. Depending on the level, you can earn 2, 5, or 10 VP, respectively.

If you surpass the requirements, you will earn VP equal to the highest level you completed. However, if you didn’t meet the requirements for an Outpost where you placed your Flag, you won’t earn any VP for that particular Outpost.

      A Journey Down the River

Exploring new lands and discovering unique artifacts is a key aspect of enhancing your culture. By immersing yourself in different cultures and gaining knowledge, you unlock the ability to create or reserve various artifacts. The more culture you acquire, the more choices and opportunities become available to you.

Culture is a valuable resource that can never be lost. Even if you reach the end of the river and have excess culture, you’ll earn victory points based on the additional culture you would have gained. It’s a rewarding way to showcase your cultural growth and achievements.

However, your ability to create or reserve artifacts is limited by your progress along the river. At the start, with no culture to your name, you can only create the two leftmost artifacts. As you journey through the river, each milestone brings you closer to new possibilities.

When you reach the first space, you unlock access to the three leftmost artifacts. Every two additional spaces you venture, you gain the ability to choose from an extra artifact. This grants you more control over the types of artifacts you can create or reserve, allowing you to tailor your cultural journey to your preferences.

There are also special actions and bonuses available along the river. These offer unique opportunities when you reach or pass certain points. Keep an eye out for these special moments as they can greatly impact your cultural advancement.

      • At Space 4, you can now book Artifacts for yourself (check page 6 for more information).
      • At Space 6, you can activate the level-1 bonus tile.
      • At Space 8, your clan gets an additional Explorer for the remainder of the game.
      • At Space 10, you can use the effect of the level-2 bonus tile.
      • At Space 12, you receive a discount on any 1 resource when creating a reserved Artifact.
      • At Space 14, you have the ability to use the effects of the level-2 and level-3 bonus tiles.

      Bonus Tiles

There are 3 levels of bonus tiles. These tiles are placed on specific spots along the Road, beside the River, and on the leftmost part of a level 3 Plains/Quarry tile. When you reach a space with a bonus tile, you can immediately and only once utilize its effect.

When you play the tile in Carcassonne, it doesn’t go away. It stays right where you put it, and other players can still use it too! The Road and your other Caravan can also use the tile. There’s also a special Character that gives you extra tiles, but those are just for you. You can find out what each bonus tile does on the next page, organized by level:

      Warriors

Warriors are fierce and courageous fighters who are skilled at battling enemies. Being a warrior requires strength, bravery, and a deep understanding of strategy.

Being a warrior is not an easy task. Warriors face danger and risk their lives to protect their people and defend what is right. They must be prepared to make sacrifices and put themselves in harm’s way for the greater good.

As a warrior, I am constantly faced with challenges and obstacles that test my abilities. The battlefield is a chaotic and unpredictable place, where split-second decisions can mean the difference between victory and defeat. It is a place where courage and quick thinking are essential.

But being a warrior is about more than just physical strength and fighting skills. It is also about having a strong moral compass and being guided by principles of honor and justice. Warriors fight not just for themselves, but for something greater than themselves. They fight to protect their families, their communities, and their way of life.

To be a warrior, you must be willing to train and prepare yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. You must be disciplined and focused, always striving to improve and learn from your experiences. It is a lifelong journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

While the life of a warrior is filled with challenges and risks, it is also incredibly rewarding. There is a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment in knowing that you are making a difference in the world, that you are contributing to something greater than yourself.

So, if you are considering the path of a warrior, be prepared for a demanding and difficult journey. But know that it is also a journey that will shape you into a stronger, braver, and more resilient person. It will push you to your limits and show you what you are truly capable of.

Embrace the challenge, for it is on the battlefield that true warriors are forged.

This symbol means you can pick 2 Warriors and place them in front of you.

For this round, you can use them as if they’re part of your clan. Warriors act like Chieftains, except you can only send them to a space where your Explorer is.

Effects that affect your Chieftain do not apply to Warriors. Return these Warriors to the general supply after this round.

      Characters

Character cards have two sides. The front side shows a boy or girl and the bonuses they give during the game. The reverse side shows that same person as an adult, and they provide ways to score VP.

When you start playing the game, your character begins on their “young” side. Before you send out your first clan member at the start of each round, you have the option to switch your character to their “experienced” side.

If you decide to make the switch, you will lose all the advantages that came with the “young” side. It’s important to note that this decision is permanent and cannot be reversed.

When I gain 1 Travel, I get an immediate boost in my journey. It’s like a small victory that keeps me going. And the best part is, during the game, every time I gain at least 1 Travel, I get another one on top of that. It’s like a never-ending cycle of progress.

How to play Terramara Official Rules UltraFoodMess

You know what’s really cool? As soon as you get this awesome thing, you instantly gain 1 Culture. How awesome is that? And that’s not all. Every time you earn even just a little bit of Culture during the game, guess what? You get another point of Culture. It’s like a never-ending cycle of Culture points! Can you imagine how much Culture you’ll have by the end of the game? Probably a whole lot, that’s for sure.

Every time you earn at least 1 Culture, you will receive 2 Victory Points. It’s as simple as that!

So here’s the thing, Military is a really important aspect of the game. But hold up, let me break it down for you. See, Military is all about strength and power. It’s like having a big army that nobody messes with. You want to be able to protect yourself and conquer your enemies, right? That’s where Military comes in.

Now, don’t get confused. Military isn’t something that you just lose. It’s not like losing a card or a space on the board. No, no, no. Military is a force to be reckoned with. It’s like a shield that keeps you safe from harm. So when you’re playing the game, you gotta make sure you’re always on top of your Military game.

But here’s the catch. Military can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can elevate your status and make you a force to be reckoned with. People will fear you and think twice before challenging you. But on the other hand, if you neglect your Military, well, let’s just say things won’t go too well for you. You’ll be vulnerable and at the mercy of your opponents.

So how do you make sure your Military is up to par? Well, it’s all about regeneration, my friend. You need to constantly regenerate your Military power to stay ahead of the game. Don’t let it dwindle or else you’ll be in trouble. Keep an eye on it and strategize accordingly. That’s the key to success.

Overall, the meaning of Military is simple. It’s all about strength and power. But don’t underestimate its importance. It can make or break your game. So make sure you’re always on top of your Military game and you’ll be unstoppable.

If you’re in need of an extra Explorer for your clan, you’ve come to the right place!

I’m here to help you understand the importance of having an additional Explorer and why it can be beneficial for your team.

Having an extra Explorer can be like adding an extra set of eyes. They have the ability to go out and gather information, explore new areas, and find valuable resources. With their help, you’ll be able to uncover hidden treasures and uncover new opportunities.

Not only that, but an extra Explorer can also provide a fresh perspective. They bring their own unique set of skills and knowledge to the table, which can help your team approach problems or challenges from different angles. They can provide new insights and ideas that you may not have considered before.

Furthermore, an additional Explorer can help to lighten the workload. They can take on tasks and responsibilities that would otherwise fall on the rest of your clan. This can free up time and resources for other important tasks, allowing your team to be more efficient and productive.

So, if you’re looking to enhance your clan’s capabilities and expand your horizons, consider adding an extra Explorer. With their help, you’ll be able to discover new opportunities, gain fresh perspectives, and improve your overall clan performance.

Note: If you decide to flip this Character, you will lose your extra Explorer. Keep in mind that the extra Explorer must not have been sent to a future Territory. Whenever you send your Chieftain to an action space where another player’s Explorer is present, you will score 3 VP.

If you send your Chieftain to an unoccupied action space, you will score 5 VP.
