Easy Rules for New Players

Hey there! If you’re new to Steam Park and feeling a little unsure about diving right into the blazing splendor of the game, no worries. I’ve got you covered with a simpler version called “Steam Park for Dummies”. Sounds good, right? Let’s get started!

If you’re in a hurry for your first game, you can skip over the “Boring Rules” paragraphs. They’re not essential, so you won’t miss out on anything important.

Setup

  1. Grab all the banknotes and place them on the table near the box, divided by value. This will be the Bank.
  2. Take the Dirt tokens and put them on the table near the Box, also divided by value. This will be the Dirt pool.
  3. Place the Visitors on the table, sorting them by color. This will be the Visitors pool.

Welcome to the world of gaming! Let me walk you through the setup process for this exciting game.

Firstly, shuffle the Bonus cards and place them neatly on the table. This collection will serve as our deck for the game. Simple enough, right?

Next, we need to prepare the Additional Ground tiles. Lay them face-down on the table, creating a mysterious yet enticing landscape for our adventure.

Now, take the Final Dirt Track and position it where all players can easily refer to it. This is our trusty guide through the game, showing us the path to victory.

Ah, the Visitors! We must not forget them. Take one Visitor for each color and place them in a cozy cotton bag. Leave the bag on the table, easily accessible to all players. We wouldn’t want our Visitors feeling left out, now would we?

To keep track of the turns, place the Turn Counter on the first space of the Turn Track. This little gadget will make sure we don’t lose our way as the game progresses.

Speaking of turns, let’s organize the Turn Order tokens. Arrange them neatly on the table, ensuring they are equidistant from every player. This row of tokens represents the order in which we’ll take our turns. Now, depending on the number of players, we may need to put some tokens back in the box. In a 3-player game, we’ll only need the first player token. And in a 2-player game, we can safely tuck away the 3rd and 2nd player tokens.

Ah, the Rides! We don’t want to miss out on the fun, so let’s place the Rides on the table, grouping them by color and size. This way, we can easily see our options and plan our strategy accordingly.

Last but not least, the Stands. These important structures deserve their place on the table as well. So let’s set them up, completing our gaming landscape.

And there you have it! The stage is set, the pieces are in place, and we’re ready to dive into this thrilling gaming experience. So grab your dice, gather your friends, and let the adventure begin!

I remember how excited I was when I first got my hands on Steam Park. There’s a lot to set up before you can start playing, so let me walk you through it.

First, each player needs their own set of 6 dice, a Starting Ground tile, and a Pig board. Make sure to keep these in front of you, so you have plenty of space to roll and re-roll your dice.

Next, everyone draws 6 Bonus cards. Take a moment to look through them and choose your favorite 3. Don’t worry about the rest – they’ll go back into the deck. Remember to shuffle the discarded cards back in, so the deck is complete for the game.

Here’s a tip: keep the center of the table clear, except for the Turn Order tokens. This way, everyone has an equal chance to grab one without any obstacles in the way. Trust me, you’ll want to be quick and snatch the best position!

Also, consider leaving some space next to one of the players. That player can handle the bank duties, like giving and receiving components and money. No sneaky business allowed, though – they can’t steal money from the bank! Steam Park is all about fun, not wrecking homes and making relatives go broke.

Alright, now that everything is set up and ready to go, it’s time to start having some dice-rolling fun in Steam Park!

Playing the Game

When you play Steam Park, you’ll experience six exciting turns. These turns are each broken down into four phases:

How to play Steam Park Official Rules UltraFoodMess

  1. Spin
  2. Soiled
  3. Deeds
  4. Earnings

Once the previous round’s Earnings phase concludes, the game comes to an end. I want you to keep your eyes on the prize – being crowned victor. At the end of every turn, you accumulate Earnings based on the number of Visitors in your Park, along with the Bonus cards you’ve played.

I. Spin Phase

Everyone gears up for action, each gripping their set of 6 dice. Once you’re ready, one of you will enthusiastically commence the countdown, and in a synchronized frenzy, all players roll their dice simultaneously, eagerly observing the outcome.

Note: So, here’s the thing – sometimes, players will try to catch their opponents off guard by suddenly starting a rapid-fire countdown. Sneaky, right? They do it to put pressure on their opponents and mess with their heads.

We can’t really say whether this is right or wrong. We’re not going to officially approve or encourage this kind of behavior, but we’re also not going to condemn it. We’ll just look at those mischievous players with a mix of amusement and concern. It’s survival of the fittest out there, after all. It’s like a wild jungle!

Okay, let’s talk about what you can do after each roll. You have a couple of options. You can save some of your dice by placing them on your Pig board. And if you don’t like the results, you can re-roll any number of dice. But here’s the catch – once a die is on the Pig board, you can’t roll it again this turn. And when you re-roll, you have to re-roll all the dice that aren’t on the Pig board.

When you’re happy with how your dice have landed and you’ve placed them all on your Pig board, be quick to grab the first Turn Order token that’s available (look for the one with the lowest number and no other player’s hand on it).

The Turn Order tokens are important because they determine the order in which players take their turns during the next Actions phase. Once all the Turn Order tokens are taken, except for the last one, the remaining player gets three final rolls. After that, they have to accept the results of their dice and place all of them on their Pig board. Once this is done, they can then take the last Turn Order token.

Let’s Talk About the Rules: When you move a die from the table to the Pig board, you can’t change its face. If it accidentally flips or you unintentionally alter one of the dice already on the Pig board, you can’t switch it back to its original face.

In fact, once a die is placed on the Pig board, it cannot be touched again until the Actions phase. If you purposely change the result “by accident,” please understand that you are not playing fair and we feel sorry for you. You are a game-spirit-ruining cheater, and that’s not cool.

Listen up!

So here’s the deal: sometimes, a few of us may want to grab the same Turn Order token at once. It’s just one of those things. But don’t fret! We can figure it out.

If it’s obvious who got there first (like if their hand is on top), great! No problemo. But if it’s not so clear, we’ll just have to settle it in a fun way. Maybe we’ll even have a one-handed push-up contest. Who knows?

Once everyone has placed all their dice on their Pig boards and nabbed their Turn Order tokens, we’re ready for the Dirt phase. Don’t worry, we’re not actually going to dirty up the place.

II. Dirt Phase

Now, for every present on the dice results of your Pig board, you simply take 1 Dirt token from the Dirt pool and put it near your Park. That spot will be your Dump. Easy peasy!

When a visitor enters your park, I’ll take 1 Dirt token from the Dirt pool. Be sure to remember this step!

Next, let’s see what your Turn Order token has in store for you. If you have the last Turn Order token, you’ll receive a bonus of 2 Dirt tokens. If you have the 3rd Turn Order token, nothing special happens. But if you have the 2nd Turn Order token, you have the option to discard 2 Dirt tokens from your Dump. And finally, if you have the 1st Turn Order token, you can even discard 4 Dirt tokens. Remember, sharp thinking and quick reflexes will be rewarded!

Hey there! Let me give you a heads up for a 2-player game: When playing with just two players, remember that the Bonus and Malus for the First and the Last player can really make a difference. This is particularly true if one player is less experienced than the other. To make things fair, I recommend using the Second player token instead of the First player token for your first few two-player games.

III. It’s Action Time!

Now, let’s talk about taking actions. To keep things organized, we’ll go in turn order, and each player will use all the dice on their Pig board to take actions. The actions you can choose from depend on the results you rolled on your dice.

Those symbols on the dice? They represent “resources” that you can use to perform one or more actions. But here’s the catch: when you use a dice to perform an action, you need to set it aside. Sadly, you can’t use it again in this turn.

When you’re playing the game, there are 6 things you can do to make your park awesome: Build Rides, Build Stands, Attract Visitors, Clean Dirt, Play Bonus Cards, and Expand the Park. The cool thing is, you can do each of these actions once every turn. You can choose to do them in any order you want, so it’s up to you to figure out the best strategy!

First, let’s talk about building rides. This is a really fun part! You can build as many rides as you want, as long as you have enough K to spend. Each ride costs 1 KI for each Visitor Space it has. If you’re not sure how many Visitor Spaces a ride has, just look on its side. And here’s something important to remember: you can’t build more than one ride of the same size during the same turn. That’s the rule!

Boring and Intuitive Rules:

So, you’ve chosen a Ride from the Rides pool and now it’s time to put it in your Park. Depending on how big it is, the Ride will occupy one or more squares in your Park. If it’s a Small Ride, it’ll take up just 1 square. If it’s a Medium Ride, it’ll need 2 squares. And if it’s a Big Ride, get ready to clear space for 3 squares.

Now, here’s something you need to remember: when you place the Rides, you have to put them exactly on the squares they need. No placing them across the lines or diagonally on the grid. We know it seems obvious, but trust me, we get asked about it way too often. People just don’t seem to get it sometimes, so we have to spell it out.

One more thing – the bottom of the Rides has to be completely on your Park’s ground tile(s). But here’s the catch: they can be partially on the Starting Ground and partially on an Additional Ground. As long as you place them on the grid the right way, it’s all good.

And that’s the scoop! Follow these rules and you’ll have your Park set up in no time. Enjoy the fun!

Note: Once you place a Ride, you can’t move it for the rest of the game. Just imagine roller coasters gliding around an amusement park while people are still enjoying the rides! Pretty wild, right?

Building Rules

When you construct a Ride, it can’t make contact with any Stands or existing Rides (not even at a corner), unless they’re the same color.

In the game, rides must be connected if they are the same color. This means they need to be adjacent to each other, sharing a side and not just a corner. But here’s the twist – once connected, those rides become one single ride for the entire game. Just like a roller coaster that splits into segments but still has people on it, these connected rides are treated as a single entity.

Let’s talk about building stands: You can create one or more Stands as long as you have enough money for it. Each Stand has its own special ability.

Remember: You can’t buy more than one Stand of the same type in the same turn. Once you place a Stand, it’s fixed in place for the rest of the game.

How to Build Stands

When you build a Stand, it can’t touch any Ride or any other Stand you already have, unless it’s the same type. If they are of the same type, they must be connected.

Attracting Visitors: This is the ultimate goal of the game: to entertain the happy Roboburger customers and take their money. To do this, you need to build an amazing Park and attract visitors to it!

Hey there! Let me tell you about the most important action in the game. It’s all about attracting visitors to your park!

Here’s how it works: for every action you take, you get to choose one visitor from the pool and add them to your bag. Then, give the bag a good shuffle and draw the same number of visitors. Remember, at the end of each attract visitors action, you should always have 6 visitors left in the bag.

Now, for each visitor you drew, check if there’s a ride in your park that matches their color and has at least one empty seat.

If you do have a matching ride, congratulations! The visitor has found the perfect ride for them in your park. You can place them on an empty seat, and they’ll stay there for the rest of the game. Robots, for example, can go on rides over and over again, but sometimes they might even make a little mess with some oil. Yikes!

If you don’t have the right Ride for a Visitor, they’ll think your Park is boring and leave without spending any money. You might even hear them grumbling about your incompetence. Honestly, I can’t blame them. Instead of putting the Visitor back in the Bag, put them back in the Visitors pool!

Getting Rid of Dirt: Let me explain this to you. Every time you use an RD, you can get rid of up to 2 pieces of dirt from your Dump. Just throw them back into the Dirt Pool. Remember, you can’t have less than 0 Dirt.

Using Bonus Cards: Here’s a cool trick. When you use a ^, you can play a Bonus card from your hand and make some money. The amount of money you earn is mentioned on the card. Don’t forget to grab the cash from the Bank right after playing the card.

Note: You can’t play two identical Bonus cards in a single turn. So make sure to use different ones!

Let’s grow the park: If you have any symbols left, you can use them to buy another part of the park and connect it to the starting point or to another part you already have. Each additional part must have at least two squares connected to the starting point or other parts.

Remember: You can use any of your dice to expand the park, except the ones with no symbols. It’s like a little bonus when you’re not sure what else to do with those dice. So go ahead and expand your park!

In this thrilling game, there are a couple of important rules that you have to remember. Don’t worry, though – I’m here to guide you through it all!

First things first, you need to know that you can only add 2 Additional Grounds each turn. These Additional Grounds are just like your Starting Ground, so you can build Rides across two Additional Ground tiles or an Additional Ground tile and the Starting Ground tile. Of course, any Rides or Stands you build on the Additional Grounds have to follow the usual construction rules.

Once all the players have taken their actions, it’s time to move on to the Income phase. This is where things get interesting!

Before your Action phase starts, take a moment to think about how you’ll use your dice. This way, the game won’t lose its excitement while the other players wait for you to make up your mind.

IV. Income Phase

Here’s where it gets really exciting – for each Visitor you have in your Park, you get 3 Danari. That’s pretty awesome!

If you have less than 3 Bonus cards, I’ll help you out. Just draw 2 cards, pick the one you want to keep, and put the other one aside. Keep doing this until you have a total of 3 cards in your hand again.

After that, it’s time to move the Turn Counter forward. Then, each player should put their Turn Order token back on the table to make sure everyone is in the right order (1, 2, 3, 4 – just in case counting isn’t your thing). And now, it’s time to start the next turn.

Game Over, My Friend!

Hey there! Can you believe it? We’ve reached the end of the 6th turn and this awesome game is coming to a close. What a journey it has been! Well, almost kind of sorry for the bumpy patches along the way. But hey, that’s all part of the fun, right?

So, now it’s time to tally up those Dirt tokens in your Dump and face the consequences. Brace yourself, my friend, because this is where things can get a little tricky. You see, our beloved Roboburgers are all about keeping things squeaky clean, which means they charge quite a hefty fee for cleaning up the mess we’ve made. Yeah, it’s one of those “double-edged sword” things.

To find out how much you need to pay to tidy up your Park, just take a glance at the Final Dirt track. It’ll give you the scoop on how many Danari you’re gonna have to cough up. And trust me, my friend, the numbers can be quite eye-opening. Who knew keeping a Park spotless would cost so much? Those Roboburgers really mean business!

Here’s the deal – if you’ve collected a whopping 30 or more Dirt tokens, well, you’re in trouble. Sorry to break the news, but you’ve gotta face the consequences. The little red skull at the bottom of the Dirt Track, yeah, it’s the universal symbol for “you’re in trouble”. If you find yourself in this unfortunate situation, my friend, you lose all your money. Yep, every last Danari. Ouch!

But don’t lose hope just yet! We’ve got one more step to go. Take a moment to size up your remaining funds. Once you’ve counted up that cash, sit back and relax, because the player with the most money left is about to become the big winner. Talk about ending the game on a high note!
