Spontuneous Game Rules
Let’s jump right into it! I’m about to share the game rules for Spontuneous – a super fun and musical game that will have you singing your heart out.
The goal of Spontuneous is to be the first player to advance to the finish line by coming up with a song that contains a trigger word given by another player. It’s a game that puts your musical knowledge and quick thinking to the test.
Here’s how it works:
- First, decide who goes first. You can use the classic method of drawing straws, flipping a coin, or any other fair method.
- Once the first player is decided, that person chooses a word from a given list of trigger words and announces it to the group. These trigger words are chosen in advance and listed on the game cards.
- After the trigger word is announced, all players (including the player who chose the trigger word) race to come up with a song that contains that trigger word. There’s no need to wait for your turn; shout out your song as soon as you think of one!
- If you’re the first player to come up with a song that contains the trigger word, you get to roll the dice and move your game token forward the number of spaces indicated by the dice roll.
- On the other hand, if you can’t come up with a song within the time limit, you don’t get to roll the dice and advance on the board.
- The game continues in turns, and the process repeats with a new player choosing a trigger word each round.
- Keep playing until someone reaches the finish line!
Spontuneous is a game that brings out the musical soul in all of us. It’s a chance to sing and laugh together, challenge each other’s musical knowledge, and have a great time.
So gather your friends, warm up your vocal cords, and let the spontaneous singing begin!

The Spontuneous Board Game is unlike anything else out there. It was created with a brilliant idea – taking something we all do without thinking and turning it into a fun, competitive game. What’s that thing? Singing when we hear a specific word!
We all have songs that are deeply ingrained in our minds. Music is a part of our lives, and Spontuneous taps into that to create a game that will captivate music lovers and game enthusiasts alike.
Once you give it a try, you’ll understand why Spontuneous is truly one-of-a-kind. It will change the way you experience music forever!

Playing the Game: A Musical Challenge
Imagine you’re playing a fun game with your friends. Here’s how it works:
First, think of a song that you like. Pick a word from that song’s lyrics and write it down on your “Hitlist.” Make sure all the players do the same.
Now, it’s time to start the game! One player, called the “Tunesmith,” will flip a 15-second timer and announce a word from their Hitlist. This word is called the “Trigger-Word.”
As soon as the Trigger-Word is announced, everyone else must race to be the first to sing a 5-word part of ANY song that contains the Trigger-Word. Get ready to challenge your singing skills!
The player who starts singing before the timer runs out gets to roll two dice and move forward on the musical staff, known as the “treble clef.” Each step forward brings you closer to victory!
If the timer runs out and no one has sung a song, the Tunesmith needs to prove that they know a song with their own Trigger-Word. They do this by singing a 5-word part of the lyrics that contains their Trigger-Word. It’s their chance to show off their musical knowledge!
If the Tunesmith successfully proves their knowledge, they get to roll the dice and move forward on the treble clef. But if they can’t prove it, they have to roll the dice and move backward instead. It’s a risky move!
I become the next Tunesmith and my job is to try and stump you with a Trigger-Word from the Hitlist I have. Remember, the Tunesmith position always rotates clockwise.
If you land on a music note, you have to draw a Spontuneous Card and complete the challenge written on it.
Game Over
I’m the first one to make it to the end and conquer the Spontuneous Challenge, and that means I win!
The Audience It’s Meant For:
This game is perfect for anyone who loves music.
