The Goal of the Game

When I first discovered the game, I was captivated by the allure of its contents. Packed with secrets and surprises, this extraordinary board game promised thrills and challenges at every turn.

And there was the ‘heart’ marker, measuring my progress and inspiring to push further. With the game saver to ensure I never lost my place, I knew I could pick up where I left off, no matter what.

Imagine guiding a brave knight through treacherous maps filled with traps and obstacles. Your task is to help him reach the end, following a path of light that will guide his way.

And here’s the exciting part! If you manage to successfully navigate through all the maps in your chosen game mode and still have at least one life left, victory will be yours.

Preparing for the Journey

• First, I’ll take the cardboard container out of the box. This container is great for storing items later. Then, I’ll place the bottom of the box right in the middle of the table.
• Next, I’ll grab the 4 levers and slot each one into the respective notch on the bottom of the box.
• I’ll carefully position the board with all the tricky traps on top of the levers to complete the setup.
• Now, I have to decide which game mode I want to play. There are 2 options to choose from. I can find more details about each mode in the game’s instructions.
• Once I’ve made my choice, I’ll take the first map of the selected world and place it on top of the traps board. Each map has a number on the back, so it’s easy to stay organized.
• Next, I need to set up all the game components specified on the map. This includes things like arches, barriers, boulders, sticks of dynamite, and guards or villains. I’ll also make sure to place the knight on the designated spot on the board.

So, here’s what you need to do:

• Select a difficulty level – easy, medium, or hard.
• Place a ‘heart’ marker on the corresponding square of the life counter. The life counter shows how many lives you have.

Now, you’re all set to start your knightly adventure!

Game Modes

Mini Quest

In this game mode, your goal is to help the knight navigate through 5 maps in each world and reach the end safely. There are four unique worlds to conquer:

• The Coast: These maps have a green background and are numbered 1 to 5.
• The Mountain: These maps have a blue background and are numbered 6 to 10.
• The Castle Grounds: These maps have a red background and are numbered 11 to 15.
• The Castle: These maps have a brown background and are numbered 16 to 20.

Each world presents a greater challenge than the previous one. Once you successfully complete a world, you can either move on to the next one or replay the same world, resetting your number of lives.

A Grand Quest

To win the game, I need your help to save the universe and conquer all 20 maps. If our game gets interrupted, don’t worry! We can save our progress and continue our noble quest (see Saving your Game).

Let’s Play

Once we’ve set up the maps and gathered all the necessary components, let’s position ourselves around the board where we can reach the 4 levers easily.

• If there are 4 of us playing, each of us will handle 1 lever.
• If there are 3 of us, 2 players will each handle 1 lever, and the remaining player will handle 2 levers.
• If there are only 2 of us, we’ll each handle 2 levers.

Our knight’s success in each mission, as defined by the map, will determine our progress to the next one. So let’s work together and communicate effectively to coordinate how we use the levers, ensuring we move the board in the right way and advance our knight towards victory.

Note: Hey there, if you want to get good at this game, I recommend starting with the first map each time. The color codes on the inside of the box will help you communicate with your team. Cool, right?

Once you’ve reached the end of each map as the knight, it’s time to switch things up. Take off all the game pieces and remove the old map from the board. Then, you can put the next map on the board and get ready with the components it needs. It’s like a fresh start!

Types of Mission

As you work to free the kingdom, you’ll come across six different kinds of goals in each map. Some maps will have multiple options for action. It’s all part of the adventure!

• Simple Paths: Stay on the path of light and avoid falling into traps. If you step off the path, you’ll have to go back to where you left it.
• Paths With Dynamites: Stay on the path of light, dodge traps, and be careful not to knock over any dynamites.
• The Guards: Push the guards into the traps.
• The Numbered Guard: Push the guards into the traps that match their numbers. For example, guard number one should go into hole number one.
• The Villain: Defeat all the guards, whether they’re numbered or not. Then, push the villain into the trap that matches their color.
• Explosive End: Two maps require a special use of dynamites (indicated by the dynamite icon on the back of these 2 maps).

I want to tell you about this really cool map I found. It’s called Map Number 10, and it’s a little bit tricky, but it’s also a lot of fun. Let me explain how to get to the next level.

First, you need to find a stick of dynamite. Once you have the dynamite, you need to push it in front of board II. When you do this, the dynamite will explode and blow up the door. This will open the way to the next map. It’s pretty exciting when the door blows up and you can move on!

But be careful, because there’s a catch. The dynamite only works if you push it in front of board II. If you push it in front of any other board, it won’t blow up the door and you won’t be able to move on. So make sure you find the right board and put the dynamite in front of it.

B. Map n°20: Once you’ve taken care of the guards and defeated the villain, it’s time to deal with the sticks of dynamite. Push them all into the hole after the villain, making sure to be careful. And now, the final step: place the knight on the villain’s throne to save the kingdom!

Choosing Lives:

When you start the game, you have the option to choose your level of difficulty. All you need to do is place the ‘heart’ marker on the level you want: easy, medium, or hard. Think carefully about which level is the best fit for you.

What’s Your Difficulty Level?

If you’re ready to play the game, it’s time to choose your difficulty level. You have three options to pick from:

• Easy (green background): You start with 5 lives. You can have a maximum of 8 lives.
• Normal (blue background): You start with 4 lives. You can have a maximum of 6 lives.
• Difficult (red background): You start with 3 lives. You can have a maximum of 4 lives.

Once you’ve made your decision, place the ‘heart’ marker on the appropriate number to keep track of your lives throughout the game.

How to Lose Lives

Keep in mind that every time you lose or gain a life, you need to move the ‘heart’ marker along the counter to reflect the change.

Here’s how you can lose a life as the knight:

• If you fall into a trap.
• If you accidentally knock over a stick of dynamite or drop it into a trap.
• If you push a guard or the Villain into the wrong trap.

When I’m playing the game, I have to be strategic. I need to make sure the Villain falls into the right trap and take out all the guards before I can move on. If a guard or the Villain falls into a hole without me pushing them, I lose a life. But if I do everything right, I can keep going on my mission. Sometimes I might fall in a trap or tip over, but then I just have to go back to the start and go through the path again. There are some maps, like n�IO and n�20, that have to be done perfectly. If I make a mistake, I lose a life and have to start all over again. But if I can pull off the perfect plan, I’ll win and move on to the next level.

How to Save Your Game

If you need to take a break from the game, you can save your progress and come back to it later. It’s easy! Just follow these steps:

1. Select the map you’ve reached.
2. Choose how many lives you want to keep.

How the Game Ends

There are two ways the game might end:

1. You Set Free the Knight: If you successfully complete the last map in your chosen game mode and have at least one life left, you win! Congratulations!

2. Game Over: If your life counter reaches zero, uh-oh! It’s Game Over. That means you have to start the game from the beginning of the mode you chose.

Types of Games

Timed Games

Let’s add some more excitement to the adventure! Each map has a time limit, and you must finish it within that time.

If the knight doesn’t make it to the end in time, he loses a life. In that case, you need to put the knight back at the start of the map and return all the objects to their original positions. You can then restart the game by resetting the timer.

If the knight reaches the end of the last map in the chosen game mode and still has at least one life left, congratulations! You’ve won the game!

Hero Mode

In Hero Mode, if the knight loses a life, he is sent back to the start of the map. The game objects are placed back in their original positions so that the knight can face them again.

Note: To retrieve the objects that have fallen into traps, simply lift the board.
