Rules for Playing Scram
Note: I’m going to guide you through the rules of the exciting Scram game. So let’s dive right in!
1. Game Objective: In Scram, the goal is to guess the word correctly. You’ll be given a set of scrambled letters, and your task is to unscramble them and form a valid word.
2. Game Setup: Before we start, make sure you have a pen and paper handy to jot down your guesses and keep track of your progress. Once you’re ready, let’s move on!
3. Scrambled Letters: The game will present you with a jumble of letters. Your mission is to rearrange them to form a word. Take your time and think carefully!
4. Word Length: Keep in mind that the scrambled word may have a specific length, indicated by the number of underscores (_) shown alongside the scrambled letters. This will give you a clue about the number of letters in the word you’re trying to unscramble.
5. Hints: If you’re finding it difficult to unravel the word, don’t worry! You can use the “Hint” button to receive a hint. However, each hint comes with a penalty, so use them wisely. Sometimes, a small nudge can get you on the right track!
6. Guessing the Word: When you think you’ve cracked the code and have found the correct word, type it into the input box provided and press the “Submit” button.
7. Winning the Game: If your guess is correct, congratulations! You’ve won the round and earned some points. Keep going and aim for a high score!
8. Time Limit: Scram is a fast-paced game, so keep an eye on the timer. You’ll have a time limit to solve each word. Don’t let the pressure get to you – stay focused and think quickly!
9. Progress and Scores: The game will keep track of your progress and scores. You’ll see your current score and the number of words you’ve successfully unscrambled. Try to beat your own record!
10. Have Fun! Lastly, don’t forget to enjoy the game. Scram is a unique and challenging word puzzle that exercises your brain and vocabulary. So relax, have fun, and let’s get unscrambling!
Hey there! Let’s have some feline fun. I challenge you to create the ultimate cat collection – and then do it all over again! Before you know it, you’ll have stacks of cats everywhere. Pretty cool, right?
What You’ll Need
Getting Set Up
Alright, let’s get started! First, let’s shuffle all the cards. Once that’s done, deal 5 cards to each player. Keep the rest of the cards together in the middle of the table. That’s your deck. Exciting, huh?
Now, let’s flip over the top 3 cards from the deck and lay them face up in the center. This is your very own Pet Store. Ready to find some adorable kitties?
The person who has the laziest cat gets to go first. If no one has a cat, then the person with the dumbest dog goes first. And if no one has either, well, maybe it’s time to rethink your life choices and let the youngest player go first.
Let’s talk about how the game is played. It’s important to understand the different words and terms used in the game.
– A “Stack” is just a pile of Cat cards.
– The “Active Stack” is where players play their Cat cards. Each player can only have one Active Stack at a time.
– An “Inactive Stack” is any Stack that has been moved to a player’s Cat Tree.
– The “Cat Tree” is the area where you keep your Inactive Stacks.
– The “Pet Store” is where the face-up cards are placed, and players can draw from there.
– The “Deck” is the face-down cards from which players can also draw.
– And finally, the “Litter Box” is where cards go when they are discarded.
Now let’s talk about the turn. It’s your chance to play!
By following these rules, you’ll be able to navigate the game with ease. Have fun!
When we play this game, it’s important to remember that we take turns going around the table. It starts with one player, then the next player, and so on.
My turn is made up of 2 parts. Let me explain.
Phase 1: Draw Phase
If you have fewer than 5 cards in your hand, draw cards until you have 5. You can draw from either the face-down cards in the deck or the face-up cards in the Pet Store. If you draw a card from the Pet Store, immediately replace it by revealing a new card from the top of the deck.
What to do during the Action Phase
- Put a Point Cat card on your Active Stack
- Put a Stray Cat card on another player’s Active Stack
- Shuffle your hand into the Deck and draw 5 new cards
About the Cards
Welcome to the World of Cat Cards!
Hey there! I’m here to introduce you to the wonderful world of Cat Cards, a super cool game that’s all about strategy and fun.
So, what exactly are Cat Cards? Well, let me tell you! Cat Cards are special cards that you can play during your turn in the game. They have some pretty cool powers that can help you gain an advantage over your opponents.
When you play a Cat Card, you have two options. You can use it to create a brand new Stack, which is a group of cards that you’ll be playing throughout the game. Or, you can add it to an existing Stack to make it even stronger.
There are two types of Cat Cards that you’ll come across: the adorable Kitty Cat Cards and the mighty Tiger Cat Cards. Each type has its own unique abilities and strengths.
Kitty Cat Cards are all about building up your Stacks. They can help you add more cards to your Stacks or protect them from your opponents. With their help, you can make your Stacks bigger and better than ever before!
On the other hand, Tiger Cat Cards are all about unleashing powerful attacks on your opponents. They have some seriously fierce abilities that can knock your opponents off their game. With a Tiger Cat Card in your hand, you’ll be the king or queen of the jungle!
Now that you know all about Cat Cards, you’re ready to dive into the exciting world of this awesome game. Get ready to strategize, outsmart your opponents, and have a whole lot of fun!
Point Cat Cards
These cards increase the number of points you have in your Stack. Each Point Cat card has a value ranging from 1 to 5.
Some of these cards also come with a special ability that can give you an advantage in the game!

Stray Cat Cards
These cards have a value of 0 points. When it’s my turn, I can decide to play a Stray Cat card on anyone’s Stack that’s active.
If nobody stops me by playing a Scram card, I get to take another turn right away.
B. Reaction Cards
There are cards that I don’t add to a Stack, instead, I throw them away after using them. There are two kinds of Reaction cards:
Stealing Cards
When another player tries to add a Point Cat card to an Active Stack, you can play these cards to steal it. As soon as you steal a card, you can either add it to the top of your Active Stack or use it to start a new Active Stack. If you steal a card that has the power to start a new Stack, move your current Active Stack to the Cat Tree and begin a new Stack with the stolen card.
If you attempt to steal a card that cannot start a new Stack, you must be able to add it to your Active Stack. If you cannot add it, you must return the card to the player who played it and discard your Steal card. Keep in mind, only the player who plays their Steal card first will be able to keep the stolen card. If multiple players play a Steal card simultaneously, the player whose Cat card is being stolen gets to decide who gets the card.
Welcome to Scram Cards!
When someone tries to play a Stray Cat card on top of an Active Stack, you can use Scram Cards to stop them.
Scram Cards are a nifty trick. They send the Stray Cat card straight to the Litter Box, and the player who played the Stray Cat doesn’t get another turn. Talk about a quick turnaround!
If a full round goes by without any player playing a Cat card, the game ends right then and there. So, make sure you keep the Cat cards flowing!
Once the game is over, it’s time to count your points. First, move your Active Stack to your Cat Tree. Then, add up the value of all the Point Cat cards in your Cat Tree and subtract the value of any Point Cat cards still in your hand. The player with the most points is the winner!
The Stack
Starting a Stack
Every Stack begins with a 1 Point Cat card. It’s the perfect foundation!
If you don’t have an Active Stack yet or want to start a new one and transfer your current Active Stack to your Cat Tree, you can do so by playing a 1 Point Cat card.
To add a card to your Active Stack, simply play a Cat card during your Action phase and place it on top. If you play a Point Cat card, it needs to be worth 1 point more than the top card already in your Active Stack.
Remember, a card’s effect only takes place when it’s the top card of an Active Stack. If a Stray Cat card gets added to your Stack, you can only play a 1 Point Cat card on top of it.
If you want, you can also choose to move your Active Stack to the Cat Tree at any time during your Action phase, creating an Inactive Stack.
When I move a Stack to the Cat Tree, it becomes inactive. This means I can’t add any more Cat cards to it.
The End Game
When the last card gets drawn, that’s when the final round kicks off. In this round, we all have one last chance to play a Cat card. The one who drew the last card goes first.
Once we’ve all either played our final Cat card or admitted defeat because we can’t play any more cards, that’s it—the game is done and dusted.
