Instead of the traditional game of Charades, where one person acts out clues for others to guess, ROLLICK! amps up the excitement by having the entire team work together to act out clues for one or more players to figure out.

• There are 378 cards, with a total of 756 clue words.

Getting Started

To play ROLLICK!, I need at least 6 players. We’ll divide into teams of three or more players. Let’s come up with some fun team names and write them on the score pad.

How Long is the Game?

A round is completed when both teams have taken a turn acting out the given clues.

• For 3 rounds, it takes approximately 15 minutes.
• For 5 rounds, it takes approximately 25 minutes. But if you never want to stop, you can play unlimited rounds!

Let’s Play!

First, let’s decide which side of the cards we want to use. We can play with one side for the whole game or mix and match. It’s up to us!

• You’ve got two options here: The BLUE side has easier clues, while the RED side has more difficult ones.

Alright, here’s the deal – we’re gonna have some fun! First things first, let’s choose a team to start. Got it? Great!

Now, each team needs to pick a guesser. Depending on how many folks are playing, you might have one guesser or a few. It’s up to you! The rest of the team will be the actors, and they’ll be doing a little charades for the guessers.

But hold up, we need clue cards! One player from the opposite team will hold onto those and show them only to the actors. No peeking, guessers!

Alright, you ready? Let’s set a timer for one minute and get this show on the road. The actors will start acting out the clues, and the guessers will try to figure it out. Remember, every round, we switch up the guesser(s) so everyone gets a turn.

Now, it’s important to keep in mind that you’ll lose a point if you speak or even “mouth” any clues to your teammates or the guesser. But don’t worry, you can use objects, team members, and props to help give clues. They make the game even more fun!

On the other hand, there’s another team called the audience team. They’re not allowed to make any noise, except laughter, while the timer is running for the acting team. So, coordination and working well together are key to success!

Now, let’s talk about the end of the game.

Every correct guess will earn your team a point. Keep track of the points earned by the acting team after each round and write them down on the score pad. At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins! How awesome is that?

Hint:

Right before we enter the final round, we need to do a quick tally of the points. The team with the lowest score will have the honor of going first in the final round.

Being in the lead definitely has its perks. The team that’s ahead gets to know exactly how many points they need to win the game. It’s a little advantage that can make all the difference.

Now, sometimes things get really exciting and we end up with a tie. Don’t worry, we’ve got a solution for that too. We can move on to the Speed Round ROLLICK! (which has a variety of options) to determine the ultimate winner.

Variations

For Really Big Groups (12 or more)

When we have a huge crowd, ROLLICK! becomes the perfect game to play. The more, the merrier! All we need to do is divide everyone into teams of 8-10 people. The only thing that changes with larger groups is the number of people guessing. We can adjust the number of actors and guessers accordingly, like this:

• Teams of 6 – (4 actors, 1 guesser)
• Teams of 8 – (5 actors, 3 guessers)
• Teams of 10 – (6 actors, 4 guessers)
• Teams of 12 – (7 actors, 5 guessers)

Less than 6 players

You can still play ROLLICK! with fewer than 6 players. Each player will have their own team. One player will hold the clues while the others act for the guesser.

The guesser will earn 1 point for each correctly guessed word. Each player will take turns as the guesser.

No Pass Rule

Some clues require teamwork. Implement a “no pass” rule, meaning teams must work together without passing the clue to someone else.

Alternative to the No Pass Rule – Allow each team 3 passes for the entire game. Keep track of these on the score pad. If a team uses all 3 passes in one round, they can’t use them in future rounds.

Speed Round Rollick – Head to Head

Hey there! So here’s how the game works – each team will choose their guessers for the other team (this is the perfect opportunity to eliminate the really good actors!). You should use the same number of guessers that you’ve been using throughout the game.

Next, every team randomly selects 5 cards from the ROLLICK! deck. The teams will then compete head-to-head until all 5 words have been guessed. Just a heads up – passing is not allowed in the Speed Round of Rollick!

Playing with Younger Children

If you’re playing with younger children, use the Blue-sided cards. It might be helpful for an adult to choose words that are a bit “easier” for the kids to act out.

Pro tip: Before each round, take the kids who are going to act out of the room and go over the words with them.

Additional Party Suggestions

Add some extra fun to the game by playing your favorite music in between rounds when the teams switch positions. Music always gets the crowd up and moving. Just remember to turn the volume down when the round starts!
