Robin of Locksley Game Rules
Welcome to the Robin of Locksley game! I’m here to guide you through the rules, so you can start playing and having a great time. Let’s dive right in!
First things first, let’s understand how to set up the game. You’ll need a game board, which will be the setting for all the action. Lay it out on a flat surface, making sure it’s easily accessible to all players. Each player will also need their own playing piece, so make sure everyone has that as well.
Now that we’re set up, let’s talk about how to play. The objective of the game is to help Robin Hood, our hero, complete his missions and collect as much treasure as possible. On your turn, you’ll roll the dice and move your playing piece along the board. Pay attention to the spaces you land on, as they will determine the actions you can take.
Some spaces will allow you to collect treasure. This is one of the main goals of the game, as the player with the most treasure at the end is the winner. Keep an eye out for these spaces and try to land on them whenever you can!
Other spaces will present you with challenges or opportunities. You may encounter characters like the Sheriff of Nottingham or Maid Marian, each with their own unique effects. Be prepared to make choices and navigate your way through the game with strategy and cunning.
One of the most exciting aspects of Robin of Locksley is the ability to form alliances with other players. This adds a layer of teamwork and negotiation to the game. By working together, you can increase your chances of success and outsmart your opponents.
As you continue playing, you’ll notice that the game board is divided into different regions. Each region has its own set of missions and challenges, making every game unique and exciting. Explore all the regions and become a master of the game!
That’s the basic overview of the Robin of Locksley game. I hope you’re as excited as I am to start playing. Remember, the key to winning is a combination of strategy, luck, and teamwork. So gather your friends, roll the dice, and let the adventure begin!

When I play the game, I get to collect Loot tiles by moving my Robin piece on the board. It’s exciting to see what treasures I can find! If I gather a bunch of tiles in the same color, I can sell them and earn some gold. Having gold is useful because I can spend it to help my Bard piece move around the Race Track that’s on the outer part of the board.
It’s a competitive game, and I always want to be one step ahead of my opponent. As I move, I come across fame tiles that present challenges for me to overcome. It’s like a test of my skills! I can choose to fulfill the challenge or take an easier route by paying some gold as a bribe. It’s a tough decision sometimes, but it adds an extra layer of strategy to the game.
The goal is to complete two laps around the Race Track before anyone else. It’s a race to the finish line, and I want to be the winner!

Getting Started
Collecting Treasures
Hey there! Ready to embark on a treasure hunt? Let’s dive into the exciting world of treasure collection!
First things first, we need to understand how it all works. So, what are loot tiles? In simple terms, they are special tiles that hold valuable items for you to collect. It’s like finding hidden treasure in a game!
Now, I know you must be wondering, “How do I find these loot tiles?” Well, it’s pretty simple. Just explore different areas of the game, and you’ll stumble upon these treasure-filled tiles. The thrill of discovering them is quite something!
When you come across a loot tile, you get to choose whether to collect the treasure or leave it be. It’s up to you! But before you make a decision, take a moment to consider the risks and rewards.
You see, every loot tile comes with its own set of possibilities. Sometimes, you might find common treasures that don’t hold much value. Other times, you might strike gold with rare and valuable items. It’s a gamble, but that’s what makes it so exhilarating!
So, here’s the deal. If you’re feeling lucky and want to take a chance, go ahead and collect the treasure. Who knows? You might just strike it rich! But remember, there’s always a chance of walking away empty-handed.
Now, if you’re not feeling particularly lucky or you’re looking for something specific, you can always pass on the loot tile and continue your search elsewhere. It’s all about making the right choices to maximize your treasure collection!
To sum it up, loot tiles are like hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. It’s up to you to decide whether to take the risk and collect the loot or pass it up for something better. Happy treasure hunting!

- To begin the game, I shuffle all the Loot tiles, making sure they are gold coin side up. Then, I construct a 5×5 grid using these tiles.
- The first move goes to the youngest player. I get to pick one Loot tile from any corner on the board. Then, it’s the next player’s turn, and they choose the tile from the opposite corner. After selecting their tiles, each player flips them over to reveal the gold coin side and adds them to their personal supply.
- Once the tiles are collected, we place our Robins in the empty corners of the grid.
- Finally, I create a draw pile with the remaining tiles, making sure they are all gold coin side up.
Welcome to Fame Tiles!
Here’s how to get started:
- Find the corner pieces labeled “The Beginning” and “Long Live the King.” Put them together in one of the corners. Place “The Beginning” piece in the inner corner.
- Shuffle the remaining corner pieces, draw three, and place them in the remaining corners. If it’s your first game, use the day tiles, as they are easier.
- Each player puts their Bard in their respective color next to the start tile.
- Shuffle the small Fame tiles and place three of them between the corners. If it’s your first game, use more of the day tiles.
- Once everything is set up, your game layout should look similar to the example above.
Time to Play!
Let’s Get Moving!
Now it’s time to start playing:
- Players take turns, starting with the first player.
I’m going to show you a fun and challenging game called “Robin’s Journey.” In this game, you control a character called Robin, and your goal is to collect as many tiles as possible. Here’s how it works:
First, you move Robin in the shape of an “L” made up of three tiles. It’s similar to how the knight moves in chess. You can either move two tiles in any direction and then one tile to the side, or you can move one tile in any direction and then two tiles to the side. However, you cannot occupy the same tile as the other player’s Robin.
Whenever you land on a tile, you take it and add it to your personal supply. These tiles are important because they are worth points.
At the end of your turn, you fill the empty space that Robin left with a Loot tile from the general supply. The only rule is that you can’t put a Loot tile where a Robin is currently standing.
The game continues like this, with each player taking turns and collecting as many tiles as they can. The player with the most tiles at the end of the game wins!
I hope you’ll give Robin’s Journey a try. It’s a game that will challenge your strategy and keep you entertained. Have fun and happy gaming!

Hey there! Let’s talk about how to move your Robin and Bard in this exciting game. Remember, you want to make sure you’re making the right moves to outplay your opponent and come out on top!
So, when it’s your turn, your Robin can move to any space on the grid that’s marked with a green check mark. Those are all legal moves. Just keep in mind, though, you can’t end your move on your opponent’s blue Robin. Gotta stay within the rules!
Speaking of staying within the rules, your Robin has to stay within the 5×5 Loot tile grid while moving. No wandering off! Make sure you always stay within the grid. And remember, you can’t end your turn on a tile that’s already occupied by your opponent’s Robin. Gotta give them some space!
Once you’ve moved your Robin and grabbed that shiny Loot tile, you have the option to move your Bard. Yep, you have multiple pieces to strategize with! Go ahead and choose any space marked with a green check mark. You got this!
And there you have it! Once you’re done with your turn, show that you’re finished by filling up an emptied space on the 5×5 grid. The next move is up to your opponent!
The Racing Track
Now, let’s talk about moving your Bard along the Racing track. You have two options:
- Once I finish the first lap of the Race Track, I move past the starting tile and ignore it in the final lap.
- The last tile in the game is called “Long Live the King.” To fulfill this tile, I have to pay 4 Gold coins, which is different from the other tiles that only require 1 Gold coin.
Guess what? I have some exciting news for you! You have the power to make your Bard move forward on the Race Track in our awesome game – all you need is some Gold coins. Here’s how it works: if you spend 1 Gold coin and discard it with the Loot side up, your Bard will move 1 tile forward (clockwise) on the Race Track. And guess what? You can keep moving your Bard forward as long as you meet the requirement or pay the bribe for each tile you encounter.
Isn’t that amazing? You can make your Bard zoom ahead on the Race Track! And here’s the best part: for every Gold coin you spend, your Bard moves forward 1 tile. You can do this as many times as you want, so get ready to race your Bard to victory! And remember, you can move your Bard clockwise at any time during your turn. So go on, collect those Gold coins and make your Bard the fastest on the Race Track!

The blue player I’m talking about is currently on “The Fence.” To move to the “Two Houses” location, he needs to have exactly 2 collections. Luckily, he has the two blue Loot tiles and one black Loot tile, which makes it enough.
Sadly, he can’t complete the “Vain Endeavour” task, so he decides to spend one Gold coin to finish it instead.
There’s a list that explains all Fame tiles in more detail. Most Fame tiles are related to the content of your Loot tiles, some are related to the number of Gold coins you have, or the position of your Robin in the 5×5 grid.
It’s always important to remember that all the text on the Fame tiles means “at least.” If it means “exactly” or “at most,” it will be stated clearly.
Now, let me define what a Loot collection is. A Loot collection is a group of one or more Loot tiles of the same color. You can never break a Loot collection into smaller ones.

For example: If you have 2 green and 1 white Loot tile, you have exactly 2 Loot collections. You can’t count your green Loot tiles as 2 Loot collections.
Selling a Loot Collection
You can sell a Loot collection anytime during your turn if it consists of 3 or more Loot tiles of the same type.
For example: If you have a Loot collection with 5 Loot tiles, you can discard 2 of them to the discard pile and flip the remaining 3 to the Gold coin side.

If you want to get rid of some of your Loot tiles, you can do so by discarding two of them on the discard pile. You’ll then be able to turn the remaining tiles over and find Gold coins printed on their backs.
But what happens if the draw pile is empty? Don’t worry! Just shuffle the tiles on the discard pile and create a new draw pile. And if there are no tiles on the discard pile either, check out the section called “What if there are no Loot tiles left?” on page 6 for further instructions.
If you have more than three of the same type of Loot tile, you can sell them for extra Gold coins. For each set of three or more tiles, you’ll receive an additional Gold coin. It’s important to note that you can’t sell just some of the tiles in a set – it’s all or nothing.
When it comes to selling your Loot, there are a few rules to keep in mind. First, if you’re selling tiles from one collection, you have to sell all of the same type together. And if you have multiple collections to sell, you’ll need to sell them separately, one after another.
![]() The Symbols on the Fame Tiles |
So, how do the different Robins compare to each other?
Let’s talk about the symbols you’ll find on the Fame Tiles in Robin of Locksley. These symbols tell you how the different Robins stand relative to each other. It’s like a little language that helps you understand the game better.
The Fame Tiles display three symbols: a crown, an arrow, and a quiver. Each symbol represents a different aspect of the game. Here’s what they mean:
– The crown symbol represents Reputation. It shows how famous a particular Robin is. The higher the number on the crown, the more famous the Robin. So, if a Robin has a Fame Tile with a crown showing the number 3, it means that Robin has a reputation of 3. The higher the number, the better!
– The arrow symbol represents Speed. It shows how fast a particular Robin is. The higher the number on the arrow, the faster the Robin. So, if a Robin has a Fame Tile with an arrow showing the number 2, it means that Robin has a speed of 2. The higher the number, the quicker the Robin!
– The quiver symbol represents Precision. It shows how accurate a particular Robin is with their arrows. The higher the number on the quiver, the more precise the Robin. So, if a Robin has a Fame Tile with a quiver showing the number 1, it means that Robin has a precision of 1. The higher the number, the more skillful the Robin!
By understanding these symbols, you can get a sense of each Robin’s strengths and weaknesses. Some Robins may have higher Reputation but lower Speed, while others may have higher Precision but lower Reputation. It’s all about finding the right balance and using each Robin’s unique skills to your advantage.
So, next time you play Robin of Locksley, pay attention to the symbols on the Fame Tiles. They hold the key to understanding the Robins and their abilities. Good luck, and may you become the legendary Robin Hood of the game!

Within Reach
If both Robins are separated by just a single move in the shape of an “L” on the chessboard, they are said to be within “striking distance.” However, it’s important to note that this term doesn’t imply any actual physical contact or aggression.
When you think of the move a chess knight can make, it resembles an “L” shape composed of three squares. The knight can either move two squares in any direction, and then one square to the side, or move one square in any direction, and then two squares to the side. When both Robins are within this type of movement range of each other, they are considered to be within striking distance.

Diagonally Adjacent
If both Robins are positioned in a way that they are touching each other diagonally on the 5×5 grid.
Right next to each other
If both Robins are standing on tiles that are right next to each other, either horizontally or vertically, in the 5×5 grid.
Game Over

The race is over if my Bard manages to get ahead of your Bard on the track. It’s like when I pass you and then pass you again, lapping you, essentially. That’s when the game ends.
If we’re both on the same spot on the Race Track, though, the game goes on. We’ll need to keep racing.
To win, I have to complete two full laps of the Race Track and finish the challenge on the goal tile first. That’s the goal.
Starting and Finishing

What happens if there aren’t any loot tiles left?
If there aren’t enough Loot tiles left to fill the 5×5 grid, I get to choose which empty space to fill first. I have to let everyone know which space I’m going to fill before drawing a new tile.
When playing the game, I can either sell my Loot collections or use a Gold coin to move forward on the Race Track. This means that I can take the unused Loot tiles and put them back into the draw pile to fill up the empty spaces on the 5×5 grid.

Changing the Length of a Game
Playing games is always fun! But sometimes, games can be too long or too short. So, how can we make sure the game is just right? That’s a tricky question, but I’m here to help you figure it out!
When I’m playing a game, one of the first things I consider is how long I want it to last. Do I have a lot of time to play, or just a little? It’s important to take this into account because different games have different lengths. Some can be as short as a few minutes, while others can take hours or even days to finish.
Another factor to consider is how many people are playing. If it’s just me, I might prefer a shorter game so I can play more in a shorter amount of time. But if I’m playing with a group of friends, a longer game might be more enjoyable because we can all have fun together for a while.
Choosing the right game length is all about finding the balance. You want a game that keeps you engaged and entertained, but that doesn’t drag on for too long and become boring. It’s like a delicate dance, finding that perfect middle ground where the game is exciting but also manageable.
So, how can you figure out the right game length for you? Well, it’s all about experimenting and trying out different games. See what works best for you and what you enjoy the most. If you’re unsure, start with shorter games and gradually work your way up to longer ones.
Remember, there’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to game length. It’s all about personal preference and what works for you. So don’t be afraid to try new things and explore different options. Who knows, you might just discover a new favorite game length!

So, here’s the deal: you and your pals might decide that you don’t have the time or patience for a full-length game. No worries, I’ve got you covered! A regular game typically takes around 30 minutes to complete. But if you want to speed things up a bit, we can make it shorter.
Here’s how we do it: if you’re looking for a quicker game, just put 2 little Fame tiles between the corners on the Race Track. This will give you a shorter and snappier experience. On the flip side, if you’re in the mood to really dive in and make a day of it, we can make the game longer. Just place 4 of those small Fame tiles instead, and you’ll have yourself a nice, long adventure.

Having Fun with Kids or Beginners
Playing games with children or people who are new to a particular activity can be a rewarding experience. It allows you to see things from a fresh perspective and share your love for the game with others. Plus, it’s a chance for you to hone your skills and learn new strategies along the way. Let’s dive into some tips and tricks for making the most of these gaming sessions.
1. Keep Things Simple
When playing with children or beginners, it’s important to start with simple games or easy levels. This ensures that everyone can participate and enjoy themselves. Avoid overwhelming them with complex rules or advanced tactics. Instead, focus on the basic mechanics and build up from there.
2. Be Patient and Encouraging
Remember that everyone learns at their own pace. When playing with kids or beginners, it’s crucial to be patient and provide encouragement. Offer guidance and helpful tips without being condescending. By creating a supportive and positive environment, you can help boost their confidence and inspire them to keep playing.
3. Explain the Rules Clearly
Before starting a game, take the time to explain the rules in a clear and concise manner. Break down complex concepts into easy-to-understand terms. Use examples or demonstrations to illustrate key points. By ensuring that everyone understands the rules from the beginning, you can prevent confusion and frustration later on.
4. Adapt to Their Pace
When playing with children or beginners, it’s important to adapt to their pace. Pay attention to their progress and adjust accordingly. If they’re struggling with a certain aspect, offer extra support or simplify the task. Conversely, if they’re picking up the game quickly, add new challenges to keep them engaged. This flexibility ensures that everyone can have a fun and fulfilling experience.
5. Emphasize Collaboration and Sportsmanship
Encourage cooperation and teamwork during gaming sessions. Emphasize the importance of working together and celebrating each other’s achievements. Teach them about good sportsmanship and how to handle both victory and defeat gracefully. By fostering a spirit of camaraderie, you create a positive and inclusive atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.

So, the next time you have the opportunity, dive into the world of fun and learning with these tips in mind!

If you’re a skilled player going up against a beginner or a kid, I suggest giving them 1-2 extra Gold coins to kick-start the game. It’s a fair way to level the playing field and make things more exciting for everyone.
