Welcome to a magical land filled with heroes, villains, and adventurers! Here, the Five Realms have managed to establish a delicate peace. It has been five years since the notorious Lord Dranor escaped from The Cavern Tavern, and a new era has dawned. The Elf Princess Tabita Orestes has rightfully taken her place as the High Queen of the Five Realms. To solidify this newfound peace, Queen Tabita has constructed a majestic capital called Caveborn, a city adorned with white walls.
Caveborn holds great significance as it embodies Queen Tabita’s vision of unity and harmony among the races: Halflings, Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Green Elves, and Trobits. As a testament to her commitment, Queen Tabita has formed the Stone Council. This council is composed of representatives from each race, who come together to make decisions and maintain the unity of the Five Realms.
Hey there! Let me tell you about Berk the Town Clerk, who happens to be the unofficial boss of the Stone Council. Now, Berk is a really friendly guy. Setup (2-5 Players)
Now let’s get into the nitty-gritty of setting up the game.
Prepare Game Board
Welcome to the town of Caveborn! I’ll guide you through the exciting world of this newly constructed board. You have two options: play the standard game during the day or at night. It’s up to you! Once you’ve set up the board, place the Round Marker on the first space of the Round track.

Getting Started with Tiles
- I begin by shuffling the Ship tiles and placing them face down near the board.
- Next, I take 1 tile and place it face up next to the port on the main board.
- Then I shuffle the Stone Council tiles and place them face down near the board.
- I make sure to place 1 tile face up on each slot in the Council.
Getting Set with Cards
To begin, let’s consult the Setup Card for our player count. If we’re playing with 2 players, we need to place a Workshop in the center Workshop slot for each Guild.

Hey there! Let’s talk about settlers cards, shall we? Here’s what you need to do:
- First, split the cards into two decks. You can tell them apart because one deck is marked with a 1 on the back, and the other deck has a 2.
- Now, each player picks a random settlers card from deck 1.
- Next, mix both decks together to create a single deck.
- Take 6 settlers cards from the deck you just made and put them face up near the top left corner of the main board.
Now, let’s get those modifier tokens ready!

When we play the game with a certain number of players, some of us get a head start with extra Modifier tokens.
- If there are 4 players, the fourth player gets one Modifier token.
- If there are 5 players, the fourth player gets one Modifier token and the fifth player gets two Modifier tokens.
Getting Ready with General Supply

To get started, you’ll need to gather all the game components – Meeples, Goods (wooden cubes), Houses, Coins, and Modifier tokens. Keep them in a spot where everyone can easily access them.
Getting Ready with Building Tiles
- Put all the Building tiles in a cloth bag.
- Randomly select one Building tile from the bag and place it face up.
Preparing the Players

When you play this game, here’s what you need to do:
- First, pick a color and gather your five dice in that color.
- Grab a player reference card.
- Draw a Character card from the pile.
- Take a Player Board.
- Collect eight Coins.
- Get one Good of each kind.
- Take one House in your color and put it on your Construction Platform.
- Put your Reputation Marker on number 9 on your Player Board’s Reputation track.
- Place your Nobility Marker on the 0 space on the Nobility track on the game board.
- Put your Score Marker on the 0 space of the Score track.
The player who most recently moved to a new apartment or house goes first.
Your Goal in the Game
In Rise to Nobility, I play the role of a landowner who dreams of becoming a lord. Throughout the game, my goal is to earn victory points and increase the value of my land. I can do this by providing housing for settlers and helping them advance in their careers. It’s always beneficial to have friends in high places! Additionally, I must fulfill various requests from the Stone Council to earn victory points.
The game is played over 10 rounds, and at the end, the player with the most victory points becomes the new Head of the Stone Council, replacing Berk the Clerk, and wins the game.
Now let’s talk about the gameplay. Each round is divided into four phases, each with its own unique set of actions and decisions to make.

1. Get Ready
Let’s start by rolling the dice. Each of us will roll the 5 dice of our chosen color.
2. Take Turns
It’s now time to take turns. We’ll go clockwise, starting with the player who has the First Player marker.
On your turn, you have a few actions you can choose from:
- Place a die on a location and take the action associated with it.
- Complete a Settlers card.
- Sell a Building.
Remember, you can perform these actions in any order you like. We’ll keep taking turns until we’ve all placed our dice or until we’ve reached our reputation limit and can’t place any more dice. Once everyone passes, we’ll move on to the Income phase.
3. Earn Income
- You’ll receive coins for your Apprentices during this phase. The number of coins each Apprentice earns depends on how many Apprentices you have in your Guild.
When you have workshops, you can receive one good from the guild associated with each of them. This means that for every workshop you have, you get a special item that can be used for different purposes. It’s like a gift for your hard work!
In addition, you can also receive rewards for your community buildings. These rewards are shown above the buildings that you have built, and they can be really cool. It’s like a little bonus for having a nice, thriving community.
Now, let’s talk about upkeep. Upkeep is important because it helps to maintain your workshops and community buildings. It’s like taking care of them so that they can keep functioning properly. Think of it as giving them a little TLC (tender loving care).
So, what does upkeep involve? Well, it can include things like repairing broken parts, replacing worn-out materials, and making sure everything is clean and tidy. It’s all about keeping things in tip-top shape so that they can continue to serve their purpose.
To summarize, having workshops and community buildings comes with some great perks. You get special goods from your guild, rewards for your buildings, and the satisfaction of knowing that you’re taking good care of everything. It’s a win-win situation!

- Reset for the next Round. Put your dice back on your Player Board.
- Take back the Goods you sold on the ship and put them back in the supply. Then put a new Ship tile in its place.
- Fill any empty slots in the Stone Council with Stone Council tiles. Start from the top left and go to the bottom right.
- Fill any empty slots in the Guild Hall. Move the remaining Buildings to the left and add new Building tiles from left to right.
- Pass the First Player marker to the player on your left.
- Move the Round marker to the next round.
End of the Game
The game ends after 10 rounds. You get points for:
- The Goods on your Player Board. You get 1 point for every 2 Goods, no matter what type they are.
I’ve reached a certain level on the Nobility track, and for my current position, I gain victory points. If I end on the white shield, I earn 6 victory points. When there’s a tie, the player who has built the most Houses takes the win. If there’s still a tie, the player with the highest Reputation in the City becomes the winner. In the rare case that there is still a tie, the player with the most Coins comes out on top. And in the highly unlikely situation where there is still a tie, all the tied players emerge victorious together.
