Ready to get your rhymes on?
Hey there! Are you ready for some rhyming fun? Well, you’ve come to the right place! I’m going to tell you all about a game called Rhyme Out! Get ready to rhyme your heart out and show off your word skills.
How to Play
Here’s how it all goes down. I’m going to give you a word, and your job is to come up with as many rhyming words as you can in 60 seconds. The more words you come up with, the more points you’ll earn. Remember, they have to be real words, so no making up silly stuff!
Scoring
So, how do you know if you’re winning this rhyming game? Well, every word you come up with is worth 10 points. But here’s the kicker: if your word is longer than 5 letters, you’ll get a bonus of 5 points! And guess what? There’s even an extra special bonus waiting for you if your word has more than 10 letters. That’s right, 10 extra points! So, make sure you’re thinking big and getting those long words in there.
Time’s Running Out!
Remember, you only have 60 seconds to come up with as many rhymes as possible. So, you better be quick on your feet and keep those words flowing. Don’t let the pressure get to you – just stay calm and keep those rhymes coming!

Now that you know the rules, it’s time to get started! Grab a pen and paper, set that timer, and let the rhymes fly. Are you ready to take on the challenge? I know you’ve got what it takes to be a rhyming superstar. So, go ahead and prove it – show me what you’ve got!
Let’s jump into the world of rhymes with a twist! I’ll give you three clues, and your mission is to come up with three words that rhyme. If you’re quick enough to figure them out and give me the right answers, you’ll earn yourself a card. The goal is to collect ten cards and claim victory in this thrilling race of rhyming words.
Rhyme Out is a game that offers two levels of play, with a whopping 600 questions to test your rhyming skills. But that’s not all! We’ve added a game-changer called “Steal” Cards, which can totally turn the tide in your favor. Get ready for a mind-boggling, twisty-turny, fun-filled family game that will keep you on your toes!
What’s Inside?
- Inside the box, you’ll find 300 cards with 600 questions. These cards come in two levels, making it suitable for players of different ages and abilities. You’ll also find 60 special “Steal” Cards, with 30 at each level.
- There are instructions included to help you get started!
How to Play
The objective of the game is to be the first player to collect ten cards. In order to collect a card, you need to be the first person to come up with three correct rhyming words after hearing the given clues.
Setting Up the Game
- First, decide which side of the game cards you want to use. The yellow side has easier words and provides a rhyming word hint. You can choose to read the hint aloud or only when players ask for it. If you’re playing with younger or less experienced players, it’s recommended to read the hint aloud as part of the clues.
Remember: Even if you’ve decided to play on the harder side, it’s helpful to read a few cards from the easier side as examples. This will help establish a rhythm for the game. However, be sure not to give these cards to the players as rewards.
Keep in mind: Give the players pencil and paper. Sometimes players can quickly come up with two of the three rhyming words. Seeing those words written down can make it easier for them to think of the final rhyming word.
Let’s Play the Game!
- I’ll draw the first card and read out the three clues. We have numbered the cards from 1 to 300 for easy tracking. If the card happens to be a “Steal” card, I’ll let you know in advance. (More about Steal Cards later).
- Now it’s up to you! Race against each other to be the first one to shout out the three correct words in the right order. Don’t worry if you get it wrong, there won’t be any penalty.
- The player who answers correctly first gets to keep the card.
- Next, pass the box to the player on your right. They will become the new Reader.
The Game Ends!
The player who collects ten cards first wins the game!
Tips
So, here’s the deal: I’ll share some helpful tips with you for playing this game. Trust me, you’re going to thank me later!
“I guessed first!”
Okay, buddy, if you think you answered correctly before anyone else, it’s time to prove it. The reader, who’s like the referee here, will be the judge. They’ll decide who shouted out the right answer first.
“That’s not fair!”
Hey, sometimes it can get a bit chaotic, and it’s hard to tell who was the quickest to answer. So, to keep things fair, when in doubt, we simply draw another card. That way, we level the playing field and give everyone a shot.
“We give up!”
No worries! If nobody manages to come up with the correct answer, don’t sweat it. The reader, who’s clearly a trivia genius, gets to take the card. And then it’s their turn to ask the questions, while the card box moves on to the next player. Simple, right?
“That’s a tie!”
Oops, looks like we have a tie! If two players think they answered at the same time, we’ve got a showdown. Only those two players will get to hear a new question. Then, the reader has the tough task of deciding who was faster with the correct answer. May the best player win!
“Help! We need a hint!”
Don’t worry, my friend. We got you covered. The game has a clever trick up its sleeve. You see, each card has an easier side, and on that side, you’ll find a little hint. So, if you’re feeling a bit stuck, just take a peek and let the hint guide you to the right answer. It’s like having a secret weapon!
Steal Cards
Guess what? I’ve got a secret trick up my sleeve just for you! It’s called a Steal Card. When you collect one of these special cards, you can sneakily steal from another player. Pretty sneaky, huh? The catch is that you have to use your Steal Card right away. If no one else has any cards, though, then I’m afraid you won’t be able to swipe anything. So sorry about that!
Housekeeping Tip
Here’s a little tip for you to keep things tidy. Whenever you play a card during the game, make sure you put it behind the other unused cards at the back of the box. It’s like a hiding spot that keeps everything organized and easy to find for next time.
Let me give you an example. Say you use Card 1 to Card 26 in your first game. Once you’re done with them, tuck them behind Card 150. So the next time you play and get to Card 150, you’ll know it’s time to start on the second deck of 150 cards. See how easy that is?
More Fun Ways to Play
- Guess the words in any order you like!
- Try to guess at least two out of the three words on the card. This is a great option for younger or less experienced players.
- If you find the cards too challenging, read only two of the clues and use the third clue word as a helpful hint. For example, on card 3, I would read the first two clues and then say: “Here’s a clue: it rhymes with hazy.”
