Reykholt Game Rules

Hey there, welcome to the Reykholt Game Rules! I’m here to help you understand the ins and outs of this exciting game.

Let’s start with the basics. Reykholt is a fun and strategic board game that challenges you to become the best farmer in Iceland. In the game, you’ll be growing vegetables in greenhouses and harvesting them to earn points. But be careful, because there are other farmers competing for the same resources!

To begin the game, each player will receive a player board and a set of vegetable tiles. These tiles represent different types of vegetables, like tomatoes, cucumbers, and cabbage. You’ll need to strategically place these tiles on your board to maximize your point-scoring potential.

On your turn, you have a few actions to choose from. You can plant vegetables by placing tiles in your greenhouses, you can sow new vegetables by drawing tiles from the bag, or you can harvest vegetables by collecting tiles from your greenhouses. The decision is yours, so choose wisely!

One key aspect of Reykholt is the race to satisfy the tourists’ orders. Tourists will be visiting your farm, and you’ll need to fulfill their specific orders to earn extra points. Each tourist has their own preference, so pay attention to their requests and try to satisfy as many as you can.

Throughout the game, you’ll also have the opportunity to upgrade your greenhouses. Upgrading your greenhouses will allow you to plant more vegetables and increase your point-scoring potential. But keep in mind that upgrades cost resources, so make sure you manage your farm’s budget wisely.

At the end of the game, points are calculated based on the harvested vegetables, completed tourist orders, and greenhouse upgrades. The player with the highest score wins and is crowned the ultimate farmer of Reykholt!

So, what are you waiting for? Dive into the world of Reykholt and show off your farming skills. Good luck out there!

Gameplay:

During the game, you’ll take turns performing actions until the game ends. On your turn, you can choose one of the following actions:

  • Plant vegetables
  • Sow vegetables
  • Harvest vegetables and fulfill tourist orders

Each action has its own rules and requirements. Pay close attention to the game board and the available options to make the best decisions for your farm.

Plant Vegetables:

To plant vegetables, select one greenhouse on your player board. Pay the cost indicated on the tile you want to place and put it in the selected greenhouse. Make sure to follow the placement rules and maximize your opportunities for future growth.

Sow Vegetables:

To sow vegetables, draw two vegetable tiles from the bag. You can choose one of them to place in any greenhouse. The other tile is returned to the bag. This action allows you to get new resources for future harvests.

Harvest Vegetables and Fulfill Tourist Orders:

To harvest vegetables, select a greenhouse with fully grown vegetables. Take the tiles from that greenhouse and place them in your supply. Remember to keep track of the type and quantity of vegetables you harvest.

If you have the required vegetables to fulfill a tourist order, you can choose to do so. Collect the specified vegetables from your supply and place them on the corresponding tourist card. Don’t forget to score the points indicated on the fulfilled order.

End of the Game:

The game ends when a certain number of rounds have been completed, based on the number of players. At the end of the final round, players calculate their final score by adding up their harvested vegetables, completed tourist orders, and greenhouse upgrades.

The player with the highest score wins the game and becomes the ultimate farmer of Reykholt!

I hope this helps you understand the game better. Remember, the key to success in Reykholt is careful planning and resource management. So, roll up your sleeves and get ready to cultivate the best farm in Iceland!

  1. Let’s begin by setting up the game area. Take the game board and put it in the middle of the table. Choose the side that matches the number of players you have. If you’re playing with 2 players, take the covering tile and place it face down on top of the game board. If you’re playing with 3 players, put the covering tile on the top row of the game board. And if you have 4 players, you don’t need to use the covering tile at all.

Next, we need to prepare the greenhouse cards. Start by removing any cards that have more parcels than the number of players you have. So if you’re playing with 2 players and a card has the How to play Reykholt Official Rules UltraFoodMess or How to play Reykholt Official Rules UltraFoodMess symbol on it, put that card back in the game box. Now, take the remaining greenhouse cards and separate them into piles based on the number of parcels shown on their back. Arrange these piles in a row next to the game board, with the cards facing up. For the pile of random greenhouse cards (marked with the How to play Reykholt Official Rules UltraFoodMess symbol), set aside the card with the How to play Reykholt Official Rules UltraFoodMess symbol for now. Shuffle the remaining cards in this pile and place them next to the other piles, also face up. Finally, take the set-aside card and put it on top of the shuffled pile, face down. This pile is called the “random greenhouses”. How to play Reykholt Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Here’s a helpful tip: Start with cards from set A for your first game.
  • How to play Reykholt Official Rules UltraFoodMessNow, let’s stack the game round tiles in order. Put the number 1 on top and the number 7 on the bottom. Place this stack on the marked space, either on the game board or on the covering tile. (Remember, you only need game round tile 8 for Story Mode).
  • Take all the wooden goods and put them in their boxes. These boxes are called the supply. Keep the goods tiles nearby too.
  • Take 1 mushroom, 1 lettuce, and 1 tomato and stack them in that order – from bottom to top. Put this stack at one end of the open display of service cards. How to play Reykholt Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When we play this game, we each get to pick a color. I choose my favorite color and take 3 workers, 1 manager, and 1 player card in that color. Any extra pieces that I don’t need, I put back in the box.

Hi there! Let me explain how the game starts. The person who bought tomatoes most recently is the start player and gets the start player card. Then, everyone takes turns placing their manager on the start table of the tourism track, starting with the start player and going clockwise.

    How to Play the Game

When you play the game, you will go through 7 rounds. Each round has 4 phases or stages that you need to complete in a specific order. Let me explain what these stages are:

    • First, we have the Work Time. This is when your workers take actions to make things happen.
    • Next, we move on to Harvest Time. During this phase, you gather goods from your greenhouses, which is pretty exciting!
    • After that, we have Tourism Time. Here, your manager gets to make progress on the tourism track. It’s like exploring new places!
    • Lastly, we have Homecoming Time. This is when you bring back all of your workers from the game board. Everyone needs a break sometimes!

On the game board, you’ll see different spaces where you can take actions. You’ll also find the tourism track, which is like a path that shows you different dishes to try. It’s like going on a food adventure!

    1. Work Time

How to play Reykholt Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Let’s get started with the game! We begin the first round with the Work Time. I’ll be the first player, and then we’ll go in a clockwise direction, with each person placing one of their three workers on an action space.

This continues until everyone has placed all three workers.

When you place your worker on an action space, you immediately take that action.

Here are the rules for placing your workers:

A free action space is any space that doesn’t already have a worker on it.

You can only place your worker on an action space if you can perform at least one of the actions available on that space. Some action spaces have multiple actions.

If you choose an action space with multiple actions, even if you can only perform one of them, you must still do all of the actions if possible. You can’t choose to skip an action.

Example: Imagine this scenario: You have the option to take 1 tomato and seed 1 time. Even if you can’t seed, you can still choose to take the tomato. However, if you are able to seed, you must do so in addition to taking the tomato.

The action spaces are organized into four columns: Property actions, Field actions, Market actions, and Town Hall actions.

In the Property and Town Hall columns, you’ll notice some action spaces marked with a flag. Keep in mind that in each column, you can only use one flag action space per round, at most.

    2. Harvest Time

During Harvest Time, it’s the perfect moment to reap the rewards of your hard work. Each player gets the chance to harvest once from each of their filled greenhouses. If you have a greenhouse with different goods (which can happen due to special card effects), you get to choose which goods to harvest.

    3. Tourism Time

Welcome to Tourism Time! It’s time for your turn to shine, but let’s mix things up a bit. Instead of going in order, we’ll start with the player who is closest to victory on the tourism track. From there, it’s a race to the finish!

When it’s your turn, you have the freedom to make your moves without any interruptions. You can advance your manager as far as you want, as long as you have the resources to do so. And don’t forget about the bonus – it’s there to help you!

Now, let’s talk about getting your manager to a table. In order to do that, you’ll need to give up some goods from your stock. The specific goods you need to discard are shown on the table’s signpost. It’s a small price to pay to make progress!

How to play Reykholt Official Rules UltraFoodMess

To move your manager to the next table, simply remove one tomato from your stock. It’s important to note that sometimes you may be able to complete the entire tourism track. If you do, return your manager to the starting stable and continue, treating each table as if it contains an extra six goods of that type.

If you reach a table where other managers are already seated, always place your manager at the front of the table, ahead of all the other managers present.

    Your Power Move

Picture this: you’re sitting at a table with two other managers. Carefully, you slide them back and confidently place your own manager front and center. It’s your time to shine!

Now, let’s talk about the “bonus” – a nifty little trick you have up your sleeve in the game of Tourism Time. Once per round, as you move your manager forward, you get to flex your bonus power. This power allows you to keep the goods needed to advance, instead of discarding them. How cool is that?

You can choose to use this bonus right before or after you move your manager normally, or maybe even both in the same round. It’s totally up to you! This means you can snatch some goods through the bonus and then discard them to advance even further.

Imagine this: your manager is sitting at a table with a delicious mushroom. In your stock, you have a lovely cauliflower and two tempting tomatoes. First, you discard that cauliflower to leap ahead to the next table. That’s how you make a power move!

So, here’s how it works: First, I’ll use the bonus to snatch one carrot from the supply. Pretty neat, huh? Then, I’ll move on to the next table and get cracking. But wait, there’s more! Once I’m done with that table, I’ll dump two tomatoes to advance to yet another one. It’s like a never-ending journey of deliciousness!

    4. It’s Time for Homecoming

When it’s Homecoming Time, I get ready to gather up all my hardworking workers from the game board. But before I do that, I have to let go of the topmost round tile – it’s time to say goodbye. After that, I pass the start player card to the person sitting on my left. It’s like a special ritual that happens every time we come back home in this game.

The Game Comes to a Close

Hey there, it’s time to wrap up the game! We reach the end when we discard the last game round tile during Homecoming Time. Now, let me tell you who the winner is: the player who managed to advance their manager the furthest on the tourism track!

If we have a tie, don’t worry! We’ve got a solution for that too. The player who is at the front of the table that has been reached the furthest is the winner. And by “front,” I mean the player who arrived at the table last. Quite the twist, huh?
