Rallyman Game Rules
Welcome to the exciting world of Rallyman, the ultimate racing board game where you become a rally driver and navigate through treacherous tracks. Strap in, rev your engines, and get ready for the adrenaline rush!
I’m going to break down the game rules for you so that you can hit the ground running. When it comes to racing in Rallyman, the key is to balance speed with control. It’s not just about going fast; it’s about making it to the finish line in one piece. Let’s dive in and explore the gameplay mechanics.
Starting the Race
To begin, set up the racetrack by connecting track tiles together. Each track tile is unique, offering different challenges and terrain. Once the track is ready, position your car token at the starting line.
Controlling Your Car
When it’s your turn, you have four action points that you can use. These action points allow you to move your car, change gears, and perform special maneuvers. Be careful though, as every action comes with a cost in terms of tire wear.
Gearing Up
You start the race in 1st gear, and as you accelerate, you can shift up to higher gears. Higher gears allow you to move faster, but they also increase the risk of spinning out or crashing. It’s up to you to gauge the right time to shift gears and maintain control.
Handling Corners
Corners are the heart of rally racing, and tackling them successfully is essential. To maneuver through a corner, you need to select an appropriate speed before entering. If you take a corner too fast, you risk skidding or losing control, so always assess the turns ahead and plan your approach wisely.
Dice Rolls and Luck
In Rallyman, dice rolls determine the outcome of your actions. Rolling dice adds an exciting element of chance to the game and simulates the unpredictability of racing. Sometimes luck will be on your side, and other times, you might need to think on your feet and adapt your strategy.
Rallying to the Finish Line
The race continues as each player takes turns navigating the track, managing their tire wear, and strategically shifting gears. The first player to cross the finish line wins the race! But remember, winning isn’t just about speed; it’s about making smart decisions and staying in control.
Conclusion
Rallyman is an exhilarating racing game that combines skill, strategy, and a dash of luck. As you dive into the world of rally racing, remember to balance speed and control, make calculated decisions, and adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of the race. Are you ready to take on the challenge and become a Rallyman champion? Start your engines and let the race begin!
Rallyman is an exciting board game designed for 1 to 4 players. In this game, each player gets to be a rally driver, racing their Micro Rally Car (MRC) to the finish line as fast as possible. But be careful! Rolling the dice can increase your risk of losing control of your car.
Just like real rally races, the crew in Rallyman first performs reconnaissance of the route. The co-driver takes notes about the course, noting down important details like the best gear to use for each corner, shortcut, and bump. These notes are marked on the road in the game, helping the driver make the right decisions during the race.
Based on your driving skills, you’ll collect cards with different timings, ranging from 10 to 50 seconds, each turn. As you accumulate these cards, they determine your total race time at the end of each special stage.
Now, let’s talk about the components of the game. (The following information refers to the actual components of the game.)
- 4 Micro Rally Car
- 4 dashboard
- 7 plastic dice
- 165 Cards
- 4 sided trays:
- 132 cardboard tokens
- 18 damage token
- 1 50-sheet marking block
- Rulebook
Let’s Race!
Hey there! Ready to race? The goal of the game is to be the first player to finish three rally special stages in the fastest combined time.
Get Ready for the Rally
Before we start, we need to choose a race director. The race director will be in charge of organizing the rally, which consists of three “special stages” or “SS” for short. These stages can be determined together by all the drivers at the beginning of the rally, or the race director can decide them ahead of time.
Let me tell you about these special races. They have a unique beginning and end, and in between, the MRC is timed. It’s not like a race on a closed circuit, though. Instead, they take place on specific game boards called ZONES, which are labeled C, J, L, and V. The cool thing is that you can combine these game boards in different ways to create different specials. Once you’ve chosen the zones you want to include, you can then select from various routes. Let me show you a few examples:
When it’s time to plan a race, I take a COURSE SHEET – an essential tool that helps me organize everything from start to finish. Curious about how it works? Let me break it down for you.
The course sheet is a simple but powerful document that outlines the route, distance, and important landmarks along the way. With this sheet, I can ensure that runners stay on track and that everything runs smoothly.
First, I determine the course’s start and finish lines. These are the spots where participants will begin and end their run. It’s crucial to choose locations that are accessible and provide enough space for a crowd of eager runners.
Next, I plot out the course route. I consider scenic areas, historical landmarks, and anything else that might make the race enjoyable for participants. It’s important to strike a balance between a challenging course and one that is enjoyable to run.
Once I have the route mapped out, I measure the distance. Ensuring that the course is accurately measured is crucial for awarding prizes and determining personal bests. I use a variety of tools, such as a measuring wheel or GPS system, to get an accurate reading.
After measuring the course, I mark important spots along the route. These might include water stations, aid stations, or areas where volunteers will be stationed to provide assistance. These markers help to keep both runners and volunteers on track.
With the course sheet complete, I review it to ensure accuracy and make any necessary adjustments. It’s important to double-check everything and consider the safety of participants. Once I’m confident that everything is in order, I share the course sheet with the rest of the race team.
The course sheet is a valuable tool that guides the planning and execution of a race. It ensures that runners have an enjoyable experience and that the event runs smoothly from start to finish. So, the next time you participate in a race, remember that someone like me has carefully crafted the course sheet to make sure your race day is unforgettable.
- First, I write down the name and date of the rally, along with the names of the drivers participating. I make sure to label each name next to their helmet.
- Next, I describe the routes for the three special stages. I note the starting point, any junctions along the way, and the finish point for each special.
- Then, I mark a cross in the column to indicate whether there will be assistance at the end of each special. Assistance is a period set aside for car repairs after a special. It’s especially helpful for beginner drivers to have this time available after each special.
Setup
To start off, the race director prepares the first stage. They set up the zones that will be used for that stage and place the start panel and finish panel on the board. These panels can be cut out from the provided card.
When we’re all set to hit the road, we drivers get our gear ready. We grab our dashboard, sisu card, and spare tire card. With dashboard in hand, it’s time to pick the right tires for the job.
Let’s Begin
We start our journey at the edge of the board, where the starting line awaits. You’ll spot it by the red starting panel, showing a chronometer.
Setting the Starting Order
- Before we rev up the engines for the 1st SS, we drivers decide who goes first.
- For the 2nd SS, things get a bit more competitive. We check the standings from the 1st SS, and the driver with the fastest time gets to lead the pack. Then it’s the driver with the second-fastest time, and so on.
- When it’s time for the 3rd SS, we add up the times from both the 1st and 2nd SS. As before, the drivers start in order of their times, with the quickest racer leading the way.
Getting Started
When it’s time for a rally to begin, the drivers need to adhere to a specific starting procedure. This procedure is designed to ensure a fair and competitive race, giving each driver the opportunity to navigate the course without any obstacles. Let me break it down for you:
- Turn 1: It all begins with player A. They take the first turn, embarking on the course.
- Turn 2: Now it’s player B’s turn to join in the action. They join player A on the course, maneuvering their way through the rally.
- Turn 3: The excitement builds as player C enters the picture, joining both player A and player B on the rally course.
- Turn 4: Finally, it’s player D’s turn to shine. With player A, player B, and player C already on the road, player D adds to the thrill of the race.
Once all the drivers have started the special stage, they take turns one by one. The order of play is determined by the order in which the cars are lined up on the road. This ensures that each player gets their chance to showcase their skills in a fair and organized manner.
When one car passes another car, something interesting happens. The order of the players will be different in the next round. But what happens if there are two or more cars in the same spot? Well, in that case, we must consider two factors: the engaged gear and the arrival time.
First, let’s talk about the engaged gear. The car with the higher gear will play first. It’s like a competition to see who has the most power. If two cars have the same gear, we need to look at the arrival time to break the tie. The car that arrived first will get the advantage and go ahead in the game.
So, in summary, if one car overtakes another, the player order will change in the next round. If there are two or more cars in the same space, the car with the highest engaged gear will play first. If there’s a tie, the car that arrived first in that space will take the lead. It’s all about strategy and timing in this game!
Becoming a Micro Rally Car Driver
To make my Micro Rally Car zoom down the road, I have to roll the dice. There are 5 black dice for each of the car’s 5 gears. And then there are 2 white dice to accelerate the car using the gear I’m currently in.
Rule #1: Roll one die to advance one space, regardless of the outcome.
When it’s my turn, I go through three phases to move the Micro Rally Car (MRC):
Phase 1: Choose a gear and roll the first die
- If I’m starting the special stage or restarting after losing control, I have to roll the 1st gear die.
- If I’m already driving in the special stage, I can use a die that’s one gear higher or lower than before, or I can use the same gear as the previous turn. I can also keep the current gear by rolling an acceleration die. In any case, I move the MRC ahead one space for rolling the die.
Phase 2: Chain gears and roll the other dice
To perform a series of gear changes, I’ll roll the dice one at a time and move the car forward one space after each roll. But there are four important rules we need to follow:
First, each die can only be rolled once per turn. After rolling a die, you’ll put it aside but keep it visible to show the result.
Next, we’ll continue from the gear chosen in Phase 1 and chain the gears in sequential order by rolling the dice one by one. The white acceleration dice can be rolled at any time – at the beginning, in between, or at the end.
We also need to pay attention to the notes indicated in the corners, bumps, and shortcuts. These will affect how we move the car during the game.
Finally, we should remember to follow the rules in the corners, bumps, and shortcuts.
Let’s get ready to roll and have some fun!
I’m here to talk about a cool game called Rallyman. Have you ever played it before? If not, let me tell you what it’s all about. Rallyman is a game where you get to drive cars on different tracks and try to finish as fast as possible. It’s really fun, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind while playing.
One important rule in Rallyman is that if you get three symbols of the same type in one turn, you lose control of your car and your turn ends. You have to be careful not to accumulate too many of the same symbols in one go, or you’ll end up crashing!
So remember, when you’re playing Rallyman, keep an eye on those symbols. If you see three of the same type, slow down and play it safe. You don’t want to lose control of your car and ruin your chances of winning the race!
With this rule in mind, you’ll be able to play Rallyman like a pro. So get out there, hit the tracks, and have a blast!
Phase 3: Time to Draw a Gear Card!
So, when you decide to end your turn—maybe because you’re all out of dice, or maybe you’re trying to avoid losing control, or maybe just because you want to—here’s what you do: grab the gear card that matches the last gear die you rolled, and stack it on top of your pile of cards. We’ll call that pile your “chrono pile,” and it’ll be right in front of you where you can see it.
Make sure that big colored number is facing up, so you can easily see what gear you’re in. And don’t forget about that digital timer at the top of the card—that’s your trusty chronometer, showing you how much time your turn took. We’ll add up all those times at the end of the race, so keep an eye on it!
Time Attack: Optional for the Adventure Ahead!
(But hey, you don’t have to play with this rule if you don’t want to.)
When you’re driving in a rally, there’s a technique you can use to amp up the excitement and score more points. It’s called the Risky Roll, and it’s a game-changer.
Here’s how it works: instead of rolling the dice one by one, you gather up all the dice you want to use (at least 2) and roll them all at once. It’s like a dice explosion!
Once you’ve rolled your dice, you get to choose the order in which you want to use them. Of course, you have to follow the normal rules for shifting gears. So, while you’re planning your moves, think carefully about how the gears will connect.
For every die you rolled, you move your car ahead 1 space on the track. It’s all about speed and precision!
But here’s the cool part: for every die you rolled, you also get a bunch of second markers. These little beauties will come in handy later on. You can use them to shave time off your final score at the end of the special stage. Or, if you’re feeling lucky, you can use them on future turns to avoid the chance of rolling a hazard symbol. It’s like having a safety net!
So, next time you hit the rally track, remember the Risky Roll technique. It’s your ticket to taking risks, collecting markers, and dominating the race!
When I’m driving, I have two options for how to handle each turn: I can use the basic technique or go for a time attack. However, I can only choose one technique per turn; I can’t combine them.
Let me explain the time attack technique. If I roll the dice and get less than 3 , I can complete my move right away. After that, I draw a GEAR CARD at the end of the turn, based on the gear I used.
If you see at least 3 , you can arrange the dice in any order you want, as long as you follow the rules for shifting gears. But be careful, because when your car reaches the space with the 3rd symbol, you’ll lose control. When that happens, you might not be able to use all the dice for movement. Even though you lose control, you still get a reward for taking the risk – you’ll earn a number of second markers equal to the total number of dice you rolled.
Note 1: Don’t roll more dice than you need to reach the finish line, and don’t use damaged or unusable dice.
Note 2: If a puncture causes you to lose an acceleration die, you can choose to give up a die with a symbol instead. This doesn’t count as a loss of control.
Note 3: Unless you lose control, you must use all the dice you roll.
Using Second Markers
(You can choose not to use this rule)
When I’m racing on a special stage and I use the time attack technique, I earn extra markers. These markers come in handy because I can use them later in the same stage to improve my dice rolls. You see, sometimes I get really worried when I roll the dice and two 2s come up. I mean, what if I roll a third 2? That’s where the markers come in. They help me play it safe and avoid any risky moves. So, I can use my markers and feel more confident about my chances of winning.
When you use the basic driving technique, and before you roll a die, you can grab another marker from your own stash and put it on the table with the die.
Can you believe it? There’s an interesting rule in this game that keeps things safe and steady. You see, sometimes the dice gets a little wild and rolls when we don’t want it to. To prevent this, we have a special rule that lets us move along the track without rolling the dice at all. It’s like a secret cheat code! So, during my turn, I can take a few seconds to do other things instead of rolling the dice. Pretty cool, right?
I wanted to make sure you fully understand how the timers work in the game. So, here’s the deal. Each die you roll gives you a certain number of second markers. The first die gives you 1 second marker, the second die gives you 2 markers, the third die gives you 3 markers, and so on. So, if you have 3 dice, you get a total of 6 second markers. Keep in mind, though, that you can’t use these markers if you’re using the time attack technique. Just a heads up!
Now, let’s talk about a loss of control. It happens in a couple of situations. First, if you accumulate 3 of these symbols on the rolled dice within the same turn, or 2 of them if you’re using asphalt tires on snow. Second, if you’re on a corner and you’re using 1 or 2 gears higher than the note says. And finally, if you’re on a bump and you’re using 1 gear higher than the note on the bump and a
symbol shows up on the rolled die, or if you’re using 2 gears higher than the note. It’s important to keep these things in mind to avoid any loss of control situations. Safety first!
When it comes to losing control, it’s important to remember that it can happen to anyone. We all experience moments when things feel like they’re slipping out of our hands. It’s natural to feel perplexed and disoriented during these times. However, it’s crucial to understand that losing control is not necessarily a negative thing. It can be an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. So, if you find yourself in a situation where you feel like you’re losing control, take a moment to breathe and reflect. Let yourself feel the burstiness of uncertainty, and instead of resisting it, embrace it. Embracing the unknown can lead to unexpected breakthroughs and a deeper understanding of yourself.
- First, I need to move the car into the space where I lost control.
- Next, I take a GEAR CARD that matches my current gear, flip it over, and place it on top of my chrono pile. Then, I do whatever event is shown on the card.
Spin Out
Uh-oh! My car spins out, but luckily it stays on the road. I keep the car in the same space or shortcut, but I turn it around to face the opposite direction. If I happened to be skidding around a corner, I place my car facing the opposite direction on the inside track. Thankfully, spinning out doesn’t cause any damage to my car.
Or
Off The Road
When I find myself in a situation where my car goes out of control, I need to quickly take action. First, I must move the car off the road to either the left or right side, depending on the direction indicated by the arrow on the GEAR CARD. I should park it just beside the space where the loss of control occurred.
Once I’ve moved the car off the road, I need to consider the type of terrain that it enters into. This will determine the amount of damage that my car receives.
When it’s time to resume play after a loss of control:
I need to reposition my car on the road space where the loss of control took place. If my car was spinning, I should also make sure it is facing the proper direction. To begin the next turn, I will use the 1st gear die. I can see which gear was engaged last, indicated by the number on the chrono pile. If the chrono pile shows 0, that means my car was in neutral.
Here are some specific cases to keep in mind:
If your car is on the road and you lose control, causing it to veer off into a shortcut space, something unexpected will happen. You’ll have to draw a shortcut card and see what effects it has. Don’t worry, though – once it’s your turn again, you’ll start from the shortcut space.
But what if your car is already on a shortcut space and you lose control, sending it off in a different direction? In that case, don’t panic. Just position your car on the inside trajectory of the corner and begin your next turn from there.
And what if you lose control while crossing the finish line? Well, that’s a bit tricky. The rules don’t really say what happens in that situation. It’s like a mystery waiting to be solved.
Oh, and let’s not forget about the Sisu card. This special card can change the game. It’s like a secret weapon that can give you an edge. So keep an eye out for it and use it wisely.
You see, playing this game is all about adapting to unexpected situations and using your skills to overcome challenges. It’s a thrilling race where anything can happen. So get ready, buckle up, and let the race begin!
“Sisu” is a word used in Finland to describe the fierce determination of Finnish drivers. It represents their never-give-up attitude and fighting spirit. Just like a superhero has a special power, each player in this game has a Sisu card that they can use once to prevent losing control. It’s like having a secret weapon that helps you stay in the game and never give up.
After I roll the dice, I can choose to get rid of my Sisu card and cancel any symbols that I rolled. This comes in handy when I want to avoid any negative effects or consequences on my turn. However, it’s important to note that the Sisu card cannot be used to cancel the loss of control that occurs when I approach a turn too fast or when I hit a bump that is two gears higher than the note.
Now, let’s talk about damage. If my car loses control and goes off the road, the amount of damage it sustains will depend on the type of terrain it enters. Each terrain type is labeled on the ZONE board and indicates how many points of damage it inflicts. The more points of damage my car receives, the more black gear dice I will lose. So, I need to be careful and avoid terrain that can cause significant damage to my car.
In summary, the Sisu card allows me to cancel any symbols I roll, but it has its limitations. It’s a useful tool when I want to avoid negative outcomes. Additionally, the amount of damage my car receives when it goes off the road will depend on the type of terrain it enters. The legend on the ZONE board provides information on the amount of damage each terrain type inflicts. Losing black gear dice is a consequence of the damage, so I need to steer clear of treacherous terrains that can inflict significant damage on my car.
To keep track of the damage a car has endured, you need to place damage markers on the dashboard. These markers cover a certain number of black dice symbols, which represents the number of black dice that have been lost.
Losing one black die doesn’t mean you lose a specific gear die. It simply means that in a turn, you can only use 4 gear dice and 2 acceleration dice. For example, in one turn you might use the 1st gear die, 2nd gear die, 3rd gear die, and 4th gear die, and in the next turn, you might use the 5th gear die, 4th gear die, 3rd gear die, and 2nd gear die.
Don’t worry, though. All the damage to your car will be repaired during the next assistance period.
Now, let’s talk about corners. There are three ways to navigate a turn:
1. Inside Trajectory
Ever noticed those numbers written on the road when you’re driving around a corner? They’re pretty mysterious, right? Well, those numbers actually have a purpose. They’re called cornering gears, and they’re meant to help us drive safely.
So, here’s the deal: when you see one of those cornering gear numbers on the road, it’s telling you the maximum gear you should use as you navigate the turn. The number is like a little guidepost, there to keep you out of trouble.
Now, you might be wondering, “What if I want to use a lower gear?” Well, guess what? You totally can! Those cornering gear numbers are just a recommendation. If you feel more comfortable using a lower gear, go for it. You know your driving skills better than anyone else.
Just remember, those little numbers on the road are there to help us stay safe. They might seem like a secret code at first, but once you understand their purpose, you’ll see they’re pretty cool. So next time you come across a cornering gear number, you’ll know exactly what it means and why it’s there. Drive on, my friend!
Sliding Through Corners
When I approach a corner while driving, I notice some numbers written on the outside edge. These numbers tell me the gear I need to be in if I want to slide or drift around the corner. If I choose a lower gear, my car will end up on the inside path of the corner. On the other hand, if I go with a higher gear, I risk losing control of my vehicle. It’s crucial to find the right gear when sliding through corners.
During a slide, I position my car sideways in the spaces between the white half-lines on the road. These spaces are where I can maneuver my car with finesse. After I pass the first or second sliding space, I have the option to shift to a lower gear. By doing so, I can transition into the inside trajectory, which offers a different way of navigating the corner.
By The Shortcut
Hey there! Let’s dive into an interesting topic today: the importance of choosing the right words. When it comes to communication, words hold immense power. They can elevate your message and regenerate a positive response, or they can leave your audience feeling confused and uninterested. That’s why it’s crucial to understand the impact of your words and choose them wisely.
Have you ever wondered why certain words have such a strong effect on us? Well, the answer lies in how our brains interpret language. When someone reads or hears a word, their brain immediately makes connections and associations based on their past experiences and knowledge. This means that the words you choose can shape how your message is understood and received.
So, how can you ensure that you’re using the right words to convey your thoughts effectively? By following a few simple guidelines. First and foremost, it’s important to consider your audience. Who are you speaking or writing to? What do they already know, and what are they looking to learn or understand? By taking these factors into account, you can tailor your words to resonate with your audience and make a genuine connection.
Another important aspect to keep in mind is clarity. Using clear and concise language helps to avoid confusion and ensures that your message is easily understood. Avoid using jargon, unless you’re certain that your audience is familiar with it. Instead, opt for simple and everyday language that anyone can grasp. This will make your message more relatable and accessible to a wider audience.
Additionally, it’s crucial to choose words that evoke emotion and create a connection with your audience. Emotion is a powerful tool in communication, as it helps to engage your audience and make your message memorable. By using words that generate strong emotions, you can create a lasting impact and ensure that your message resonates with your audience on a deeper level.
And one final tip: remember to be authentic. Your words should reflect your true self and your genuine intentions. People can often sense when someone is trying to be something they’re not, and it can come across as disingenuous. So, be true to yourself and use words that align with your values and beliefs. This will not only make your message more impactful, but it will also help you build trust and credibility with your audience.
To sum it all up, choosing the right words is an art that can greatly enhance your communication skills. By considering your audience, being clear and concise, evoking emotions, and staying authentic, you can ensure that your message is heard and understood. So, the next time you’re crafting a message, remember the power of words and choose them wisely. Happy communicating!
When you’re racing around a corner, you might notice a little secret – a shortcut. These shortcuts are easy to spot because they leave a smudge of dirt on the inside of the corner. If you see this dirt space, take note! It’s a sign that there’s a secret way to cut through the track.
Each shortcut has its own rules, and they’re marked with a symbol and a special note. The note tells you the highest gear you can use on the shortcut without losing control. To take advantage of the shortcut, navigate your car into the brown dirt space in the same direction you’re already moving. Then, draw a shortcut card with a “K” on it. This card will give you a special power to use right away. Once you’ve used the power, discard the card.
A Handy Shortcut.
I’ve discovered a nifty little trick that I just have to share with you. It’s a quick and easy way to make your life a whole lot easier. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!
Imagine this: you’re busy and on the go, trying to juggle a dozen different tasks at once. Sound familiar? Well, I’ve got just the thing for you. This shortcut is like a secret weapon that will supercharge your productivity and save you precious time.

Start exploring and experimenting with the tools at your disposal. I promise you won’t be disappointed. In fact, I have a feeling you’ll wonder how you ever got by without them!
The Filthy Bend.
As I drive along the road, my car stirs up a cloud of dirt. I spot a grimy corner up ahead, marked by a DIRT MARKER -M. It appears that the notes left on this stretch of road were reduced by 1 for all future drivers. It’s like the dirt has tainted the messages, making them harder to read.
But here’s the interesting part: the note on the shortcut space remains unaffected by the dirt. It stands out amidst the filth, untouched and clear. It’s a reminder that not everything succumbs to the grime. Some things remain pristine, refusing to be influenced by the surrounding mess.
If another driver takes this shortcut and draws a second dirty corner card, the notes on the corner will decrease by 1 once more.
Flat tire:
Oh, the dreaded flat tire! Nothing quite compares to the frustration and annoyance that comes with unexpectedly discovering a deflated tire on your vehicle. It seems to happen at the most inconvenient times, doesn’t it?
Picture this: you’re cruising down the road, feeling the cool breeze against your face, and suddenly, you hear that dreaded thump. Your heart sinks as you realize you’ve got a flat tire. But fear not, my friend! I’m here to guide you through the process of dealing with this annoying inconvenience.
First things first, take a deep breath and pull your vehicle over to a safe location. You don’t want to risk any accidents or further damage by continuing to drive on a flat tire. Safety should always be your top priority.
Now, it’s time to inspect the damage. Look closely at your tire and try to identify the cause of the flat. Is it a puncture from a nail or a screw? Or perhaps your tire is simply worn out and it’s time for a replacement. Understanding the root cause of the flat tire will help you determine the best course of action.
If you’re lucky, you may have a spare tire in your car or trunk. It’s always a good idea to familiarize yourself with your vehicle’s equipment, including your spare tire, jack, and lug wrench. These tools will be crucial in changing your tire.
Before you start the process of changing your tire, remember to consult your vehicle’s manual for detailed instructions specific to your make and model. Every car is slightly different, so it’s important to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.
Once you’ve gathered your tools and consulted your manual, it’s time to get down to business. I know, it can be a bit intimidating at first, but with some practice, changing a tire can become second nature.
First, locate the jack points on your vehicle. These are the designated spots where you will place the jack to lift your car off the ground. It’s important to use the correct jack points to avoid damaging your car’s body.
Once the jack is securely in place, start raising your vehicle until the flat tire is slightly off the ground. Remember to take it slow and steady. Safety first, always!
Now it’s time to remove the lug nuts. Loosen them by turning them counterclockwise, but don’t remove them just yet. You want to wait until the tire is off the ground completely before fully removing the lug nuts.
With the lug nuts loosened, it’s time to lift the car off the ground completely using the jack. Once the tire is off the ground, you can safely remove the lug nuts and take off the flat tire.
Now comes the fun part – installing the spare tire! Carefully align the holes on the spare tire with the studs on your car, and slide it onto the studs. Don’t forget to put the lug nuts back on, but only tighten them by hand for now.
Gently lower your vehicle back down to the ground using the jack, making sure all its weight is supported by the newly-installed spare tire. Once your car is back on the ground, you can tighten the lug nuts securely, this time using the lug wrench.
Now that your spare tire is securely in place, it’s time to pack up your tools and get back on the road. But keep in mind that a spare tire is not meant for long journeys or high speeds. It’s simply a temporary solution to get you to your destination or the nearest tire shop.
So, my friend, remember to drive carefully and make it a priority to get your flat tire repaired or replaced as soon as possible. After all, a properly inflated tire is crucial for your safety and the performance of your vehicle.
Now, armed with this newfound knowledge, you can tackle the infamous flat tire with confidence. Don’t let it ruin your day – it’s just a temporary setback on the road of life. Keep calm, stay safe, and happy driving!
Oh no, a flat tire! This means I lose one of my acceleration dice. I need to put a damage marker on the white dice symbol on my dashboard to show that I’ve lost a die.
When it comes to flat tires in a race, there are a few rules to keep in mind. If a driver has one flat tire, they can only use one acceleration die. But if they have two flat tires, they can’t use any acceleration dice. And if they get a third flat tire without fixing the previous two, they’re out of the race.
When you get a flat tire, you have to remove a white die that you haven’t rolled yet. This doesn’t affect any dice you’ve already used this turn, but it will affect all future turns.
A flat tire stays with you until it’s fixed during an assistance period or by using a spare tire card.
Have you ever wondered why it’s crucial to choose the right gear when going into a corner while driving a car? Let me explain.
When I approach a corner, I need to make sure I’m in the correct gear. If I’m in a gear that is too high – like 1 or 2 gears above the highest note in the corner – I lose control of the car immediately. It’s like trying to hit a high note without warming up my voice first; it’s just not going to work.
But it gets even worse. If I’m in a gear that is more than 2 gears above the highest note, I’m knocked out of the rally completely. Imagine being in the middle of a race, all excitement and adrenaline pumping, and then suddenly you’re out of the game. It’s frustrating and disappointing.
Spare Tire
The spare tire card is a handy tool that lets me change a flat tire when I need to. But there are some rules I have to follow to use it. First of all, I can only use it at the start of my turn. And I can only use it if my car is in 1st gear or neutral (gear 0).
When it’s my turn, I flip the Spare tire card over so I can see the time and gear 0. Then I put it on top of the chrono pile. After that, I remove one damage marker that’s covering a white die symbol on my dashboard. Once I’ve done that, I can keep going with my turn, starting with the 1st gear die.
I can also use the spare tire card between two special stages, but only if there’s no assistance period. In this case, I can’t keep the card for the next special stage. I have to discard it.
So the spare tire card is really helpful if I get a flat tire, but I have to use it at the right time and follow the rules.
Note: You can only get a new spare tire card when you need help (up to 1 card).
Problems with the road
When you come across a bump in the road, you’ll see a note written below a symbol. There are three ways to handle these bumps:
- Reduced speed: If you’re driving in a lower gear than the note, you’ll simply move one space forward, as usual (into the bump space).
- Recommended speed: If you’re driving in the same gear as the note, you can jump ahead to the next space past the bump (a total of two spaces).
- Excessive speed: If you’re driving in a gear that’s one higher than the note, you’ll jump to the second space ahead of the bump (a total of three spaces). However, if you rolled the
symbol on the die, you’ll lose control in that space.
Have you ever experienced the curious phenomenon of entering a bumpy space while driving in a gear that’s two gears higher than the note? It’s as if the car suddenly leaps forward, skipping ahead to the third space after the bump, even though there’s a loss of immediate control.
The Thrill of Overtaking
Overtaking is an exhilarating experience that can only occur under four specific circumstances:
When I’m driving, I often find myself faced with a tricky situation – trying to determine whether there’s enough space to pass by the other cars on the road. It’s a decision that requires careful consideration, as making the wrong move could have serious consequences. So, how do I know when it’s safe to pass? There are a few key factors to keep in mind.
If the opponent is positioned in the corner, utilizing a shortcut can be a clever move during a racing game. A shortcut refers to an alternative route that allows you to gain an advantage over your competition. By taking this unexpected path, you have the opportunity to cut corners and potentially outpace your opponents. However, it’s important to note that shortcuts are not always explicitly defined or marked, making them tricky to discover.
Imagine you’re racing around a sharp turn in a race, and you notice that your opponent has taken a shortcut. As you approach the corner, a thought crosses your mind – what if I take that same shortcut too?
So here’s the deal: if the other car goes off the road, you’re in the clear. But watch out! If that car is turned around on a turn, it still blocks the road.
Here are a couple of things you should know:
- It’s possible for multiple cars to be in the same space, as long as there’s enough room for all of them.
- If you can’t pass a car, your turn is over. And on the rare occasion when you can’t move forward at all, draw a gear card that matches your current gear and let the next player have a go.
Time to Wrap It Up
I want to talk to you about the finish line in a race. You know, that line that marks the end of the race? Well, it’s defined by the edge of the board. You can tell because there’s a special yellow finish panel that’s placed there. To finish a special stage, all you have to do is cross over that finish line. Easy enough, right?
Once the special stage is finished, each driver has to add up the times of all the gear cards they’ve accumulated during the race. Then, they have to subtract any second markers they have left. It’s like a math problem, but don’t worry, it’s not too hard.
The final stage time, which is calculated by subtracting the number of seconds from the chrono pile time, is then recorded by the race director in the course sheet. The driver who has the fastest time for that special stage is declared the winner. Pretty cool, huh?
So, picture this. You’re driving your car, pushing it to the limit, and just as you cross the finish line, you lose control. But hey, no worries! Even though things didn’t go as planned, that special stage is still considered completed. Pretty cool, right?
Now, here’s what happens next. You, as the driver, grab a gear card that matches the gear you were in when you crossed the finish line. Add it to your chrono pile without flipping it over. Oh, and don’t forget! You also need to cover up a black die symbol with a damage marker. That’s the evidence of the little mishap you had back there.
Just a quick heads up – if there’s no assistance period before the next special, that damage will stick with you. Ouch!
Alright, onto the next special stage! But before we get there, we need to figure out the starting order. Makes sense, right? Well, here’s how it goes. The driver who has the shortest combined time from all completed stages gets to go first. Yep, it’s a race against the clock! And if this was the last special stage, guess what? The driver with the shortest combined time is the big winner of the rally! Talk about a sweet victory!
Now, let’s talk about assistance.
Including an assistance period at the end of each special stage is highly recommended for novice drivers. You can easily identify this period on the course sheet because there will be an X written in the column. During the assistance period, you have the opportunity to fully repair your car. This means you can:
– Remove all damage markers from the dashboard, revealing all symbols.
– Get a new Spare tire card if you’ve already used your previous one (remember, you can only have a maximum of 1 spare tire card at a time).
– Change the type of tires on your car if you want.
Now, let’s talk about weather conditions and tire choice.
(Note: You can choose to play without this rule.)
When I look at the reverse side of each zone board, I see a beautiful blanket of snow covering it. This means that we have the option to hold a rally on a snow-covered terrain or in mixed weather conditions. It’s amazing how weather plays a crucial role in this sport, and there are two ways to determine it:
Fixed Weather:
Here’s where you and I get to be the decision-makers. We can choose which zones will be covered in snow right at the start of the rally. Imagine the power we have to create our own winter wonderland!
Variable Weather:
But hold on, there’s another way to do things. In this case, the road conditions are a mystery up until the start of the rally. The race director fills in the course sheet, and it’s only then that we know what we’re up against. Each special stage brings a surprise because the road conditions are determined right at the beginning. It’s like an adventure every time!
To pull it off, the person in charge of the race rolls black dice based on the number of zones. The 1st gear die is used for the 1st zone, the 2nd gear die for the 2nd zone, and so on. If the snow symbol shows up on a gear die, that zone will be covered in snow.
Now, let’s talk about tire choice. At the start of the first special stage, and during each assistance period, you get to pick which type of tires you want to use. This happens after the weather has been determined. To show your choice, just flip your dashboard to the side that shows either asphalt or snow tires. When there’s no assistance period between two special stages, you have to stick with the same tires you used in the previous stage.
There’s also an optional rule called split times, but we won’t get into that right now.
When I start a special stage, I have the option to set up one or more checkpoints along the route. I use a black marker to mark the desired spaces for these checkpoints.
Every time I drive through one of these checkpoints, I calculate my current total time. I add up all the cards in my chrono pile and then subtract any second markers. This gives me my time for that checkpoint, which is then shared with everyone else.
This information is important because it tells me where I stand compared to the other drivers. It might even influence the way I drive in order to improve my standing.
Shakedown
(optional rule)
The shakedown mode is like a training mode for me. It helps me improve my skills in handling the Micro Rally Car. I play the game as I normally would, but I ignore all symbols and punctures.
