How to Play Qwirkle Cubes
Let me show you the ropes on playing Qwirkle Cubes and get you started on your path to victory!
Let’s Get Set Up
Grab a pencil and some paper to keep score. We wouldn’t want anyone getting left behind in the excitement!
Next, it’s time to toss all those colorful cubes in a bag. Shake it up, mix ’em around, and get ready for some real fun!
Now, each player grabs six cubes and rolls them. These will be your trusty deck for this thrilling game.
Remember, everyone plays open-handed, so keep those cubes visible at all times. No secret moves allowed!
Let the Game Begin
Alright, now that we’ve got everything sorted, let’s dive into the heart of the game!
The goal is to create lines of cubes with matching colors or shapes to earn those precious points. Every move counts!

In this game, the oldest player gets to start. It’s my turn, and I’m ready to make my move. The first thing I need to do is roll the dice. Once I’ve rolled, I have to place as many cubes as I can on the board.
If I can’t place more than one cube, I have to keep rolling the dice until I can. It’s all about strategy and luck!
Now I have four options for my turn:
- I can choose to re-roll some or all of my cubes.
- I can add cubes to the grid, but they have to share a color or shape with the existing cubes. They don’t have to touch each other, though.
- I can record my score.
- Or, I can draw new cubes to add to my deck and roll them as well.
Remember, the game continues clockwise, so it’s important to pay attention to what the other players are doing.

Rolling Cubes
Every time I re-roll, the shapes of my cubes have the potential to change. It’s an exciting and unpredictable part of the game!
Have you ever wondered if rolling your cubes can make them change color? I mean, it seems like a pretty simple action, right? You pick up your dice, give them a good roll, and then hope for the best. But, as it turns out, no matter how many times you roll those cubes, their color will always stay the same. Rolling just doesn’t have that kind of power.
How to Add Cubes

When playing this game, I need to connect the cubes on the grid by placing them next to each other in straight lines. I can’t make diagonal connections. You need to be careful with that!
Whenever two or more cubes touch, they form a line. This line can consist of cubes that have the same color or shape. So, you can create lines with matching colors or lines with matching shapes.
If I add a cube to a line, it has to share the same color or shape as the other cubes in that line. So, I can’t mix and match!
Here’s how I score points:
When I create a line, I get one point for each cube in that line. This includes the cubes that were already on the grid, not just the ones I added.
If a cube is part of two different lines, it will score 2 points. Double the pleasure!
Oh, and if I manage to complete a line of 6 cubes, I get a big bonus. That’s 6 extra points! It’s called a Qwirkle, and it’s a pretty sweet deal.
Remember, I can’t have lines with more than 6 cubes. That’s just against the rules. Keep it tidy!
When the game ends:

So, here’s the deal: when we run out of cubes, we keep going, but we don’t get any more cards.
Now, the magic happens when someone uses up all their cubes – that’s when the game ends with a bang, and they score an extra 6 points!
And hey, here’s the exciting part: the person with the most points overall is the big winner! Whoop!
