Welcome to the exciting world of nation-building! As the leader of a great nation, it’s up to me to make important decisions that will shape the future. I have to invest in infrastructure and industries, provide energy for my country, and support cutting-edge research. It’s a challenging task, but one that must be done to stay competitive.
But there’s a catch. I also have to consider the environment and the well-being of future generations. Pollution is a serious threat, and it’s important that I take steps to limit its impact. After all, what good is prosperity if it comes at the expense of our planet?
Throughout the game, I’ll score prosperity points based on my decisions and actions. At the end, the player with the most points will be declared the winner.
Let’s Get Started!
Now that you know what’s at stake, let’s take a look at the components of the game:
- A research board
- Four individual boards (double-sided)
- 64 pollution discs (black)
- 20 cubes (blue, red, green, and yellow)
- 35 banknotes (10 of 50€, 20 of 100€, and 5 of 500€)
- If we consider an Energy tally, you have two options – either pay 200 or pay 100 and add a pollution disc, or simply add two pollution discs.
- In the case of an Ecology tally, you will remove 2 pollution discs.
- When it comes to a Capital tally, you won’t receive any money (no visible symbols).
- In the event of a Research tally, you must advance five spaces in total on the Research tracks.
- In terms of a Prosperity tally, you will move 3 points on the score track (two symbols on tiles, and one on the Pollution track).
- If the tile is at the same Research level as my marker, it will cost 100€.
- If the tile is at a higher level than my marker, it will cost an initial 100€, plus an extra 100€ for each level above my marker’s level.
- If the tile is at a lower level than my marker, it will cost 50€, regardless of the tile’s level.
- If the tile has a pink background (like a Powerplant tile), I must place it on a pink square.
- If the tile has a yellow background (like a Supply tile), I must place it on a yellow square.
- If the tile has a green background (like a Transport tile), I must place it on a green square.
- If the tile has a blue background (like an Infrastructure tile), I must place it on a blue square.
- The other tiles are Special tiles that have unique effects. Instead of being placed on the individual board, they are discarded after their effect is applied: gain 1 Prosperity point, gain 2 Prosperity points, or remove 3 Pollution discs.
- Double Energy: Your energy score is tallied twice, just like we’ve explained before.
- Ecology: The ecology score is counted twice, as mentioned earlier.
- Capital : The capital score is counted once, as mentioned earlier. Then, the players get rid of their money. For every full 300 dollars they discard, they earn one point of prosperity. Any extra money is kept for tie-breaking purposes.
- Research: Each player moves a certain number of spaces on both Research tracks, based on the number of Research symbols they have on their individual board. For each track, the player with the highest marker scores 3 Prosperity points, while the second player scores 1 point.
- The tiles on the left side of the Research board focus on Capital and Energy. The tiles on the right side focus on Research and Ecology.
- Each decade (1970, 1980, etc.) has 5 tiles, and each symbol is counted only once. In 2030, there is an extra tile with a Prosperity count. Based on the counts you have already made, you can predict the remaining counts and plan your moves accordingly.
- Prosperity symbols are essential for winning the game, so make sure to start building them early. It is also crucial to manage pollution to discover more symbols of prosperity and, most importantly, prevent reaching the final space, which cancels out all prosperity points.
I am excited to share some information with you about a game called “Ecos: First Continent.” It’s a board game that revolves around technology and its impact on the environment. Let’s dive in and explore how to set up the game!
To begin, you’ll need 60 technology tiles. These tiles play a vital role in the game, so make sure you have them all.
Now, let’s talk about the setup process:
1. Start by placing the Research board in the center of the table. This board will be the focal point of the game.
2. Sort the Technology tiles based on the decade printed on their back. You’ll have tiles from the 1970s and 1980s. At the beginning of the game, place any tiles without a specific date face-up next to the Research board. The Research level shown on the tile should match the Research level on the board. If the Research level is in blue on the left side, place it to the left of the board (these are energy tiles). If the level is in green on the right side, place it to the right of the board (these are ecological tiles).
3. Shuffle the tiles from each decade and place them face-down to create a deck. Start with the tiles from 2030 at the bottom, followed by the 2020 tiles, and finally, put the five tiles from the 1970s on top of the deck.
Now that the setup is complete, you are ready to embark on your journey through the world of “Ecos: First Continent.” Have fun exploring the intricate relationship between technology and the environment!
Imagine you and your friends are about to embark on an exciting game called “Power for the Planet.” The goal is to make your country the most environmentally friendly and prosperous. Here’s how you begin:
First, everyone chooses a color and picks an individual board. If it’s your first game, make sure the silver country is visible. If you’re up for a challenge, you can play with the black country showing in future games.
Next, each player receives a banknote worth 100 dollars and 5 cubes in their chosen color. Put one cube on your score track, one cube on each of the two tracks on the Research board, and the remaining two cubes on the red square of the Energy and Ecology tracks on your personal board. This represents your country’s initial energy and ecological scores.
To set up your Pollution track, place 8 discs on the round spaces, starting from the bottom. Any remaining discs and money should be set aside near the board.
And there you have it! You’re now ready to begin your journey towards a sustainable and prosperous future. Good luck!
Welcome to the Game!
Let’s get started! I’m here to explain the game to you, so pay close attention. It’s going to be fun!
First things first, we need to decide who goes first. To keep it fair, we’ll choose a player randomly. Could it be you? Only one way to find out!

Hello, technology!
Did you know that technology is all around us, shaping the world we live in? I find it truly fascinating! It’s incredible to think about how much our lives have changed because of technological advancements. From smartphones to smart homes, technology has become an integral part of our daily routines.
Technology can be a bit overwhelming, especially with so many options to choose from. But don’t worry, I’m here to help you navigate the world of technology and find the perfect fit for your needs.
Let’s start by talking about the importance of understanding technology. It’s crucial to have a basic understanding of how different technologies work and how they can benefit us. Technology is like a magic wand that can make our lives easier, but only if we know how to use it properly. So, take the time to educate yourself about the technology you’re interested in. Trust me, it’s worth it!
Now, when it comes to choosing the right technology for you, there are a few things you should consider. First, think about what you want to use the technology for. Are you looking for a device that will help you stay connected with your loved ones? Or maybe you’re searching for a tool that will make your work more efficient? Knowing your needs will guide you in the right direction.
Next, think about your budget. Technology can be pricey, so it’s important to set a realistic budget before making any purchases. Take into account not only the initial cost of the device but also any additional costs such as maintenance or subscriptions.
Lastly, do your research. There are so many different brands and models out there, and not all of them are created equal. Read reviews, compare features, and ask for recommendations. This will help you make an informed decision and choose a technology that will truly enhance your life.
Remember, technology is meant to serve us, not the other way around. Don’t let it overwhelm you. Embrace it, but use it wisely. With the right technology, you can unlock a world of possibilities and make your life easier and more enjoyable. So go ahead, dive into the world of technology, and let it inspire you!
In the world of tile and decade, there’s something called a “Back.” This Back tells me the tile’s decade, which is the year 2030. It’s pretty cool to know what decade the tile belongs to.
Now let’s talk about the “Area” and “Level” of the tile. This particular tile belongs to the area of Ecology, and it’s at Level 6. That’s interesting information to have, don’t you think?
Next up is the “Scoring Symbol.” This symbol has a white border and represents Prosperity. It’s pretty important because it tells us how well the tile contributes to scoring points.
Moving on, we have the “Energy Impact.” For this tile, the impact is -2. That means it has a negative effect on the energy score. Not a great outcome for this tile, but that’s just how it is sometimes.
Lastly, we have the “Ecological Impact.” This tile’s impact is -1, which means it also has a negative effect on the ecological score. It’s a shame when tiles hinder eco-friendly efforts, but that’s part of the game.
Oh, and one more thing to note: the background color of the tile tells us its type, and in this case, it’s an infrastructure tile. Neat, right?
Let’s move on to the individual board.
A Country (Silver: Normal – Black: Difficult)
D Ecology track
E Reminder of possible actions
F Reminder of the final scoring
G Pollution track
Notes: I want to tell you something really important about the symbols on your board. These symbols represent how your country is developing. Pay close attention to them because they will affect your score at the beginning of each turn.
The Energy track shows the balance between positive and negative energy symbols on your board. The Ecology track shows the balance between positive and negative ecology symbols on your board.
Research Board
When you play this game, you’ll need a few different things:
A Score track for each player.
An Energy Research track.
An Ecological Research track.
A Research level marker.
Starting energy tiles.
Starting ecological tiles.
A reminder of tile prices.
How to Play
Let me explain how the game works. It takes place over a span of seven decades, starting in 1970 and ending in 2030. There will be 36 turns in total. Each turn, the active player will draw a Technology tile, use its effects, and take two actions. Then it will be the next player’s turn.
1. Technology Tile
First, the active player draws a Technology tile from the top of the deck. The tile will have a scoring symbol on it (it will be outlined in white). Every player, starting with the active player and going clockwise, will keep track of how many of that symbol they have.
Energy: If my energy level is positive, I earn 50€. But if it’s negative, I have to pay 100€ or add a pollution disc to my Pollution track for each negative level.
Ecology: If my ecological total is positive, I remove one disc from my Pollution track for each positive level. And if I manage to remove all the discs, I earn 50€ for each disc I had to remove. However, if my total is negative, I have to add a disc to my Pollution track for each negative level.
Note: Whenever I remove a pollution disc, I always take the one from the highest space on the track.
When I add pollution discs, I start by filling the spaces from the bottom up. The last space can hold an unlimited number of discs.
Capital: Whenever you have a Capital symbol on your board, you earn 100 coins.
Research: If you have a Research symbol on your board, you can move your marker one square forward on any of the Research tracks. If you have multiple Research symbols, you can split your move between the two tracks.
Prosperity: Whenever you see a Prosperity symbol on your board, you move one space forward on your score track. This includes Prosperity symbols on the Pollution track.
Important: But be careful! If there is at least one disc on the last space of your Pollution track (the triangle-shaped track), you’ve polluted too much. In that case, you won’t earn any Prosperity points.
So, here’s how it works: when it’s your turn, you’re going to draw a tile from the deck. Now, this tile can be different types and levels. Once you’ve got your tile, you’re going to place it right next to the Research board, just like you did during the setup. Simple, right?
For instance: The color blue represents the scenario explained earlier.
2. Actions
You, as the active player, have the opportunity to perform 2 actions. These actions can be either different or the same. Below are the available actions:
a. Revenues: You can take 100 from the bank.
b. Cleanup: I’ll remove the highest disc from my Pollution track.
c. Research: I’ll move ahead one square on one of my Research tracks.
d. Tile purchase: The price of a tile is calculated by comparing the position of the tile I want with my marker on the Research track connected to that tile:
For example: When it’s my turn, I decide to focus on Research as my first action, which allows me to advance to level 3 in Ecology. Then, as my second action, I purchase the Hydrogen vehicles, which are at level 4, and I pay 200 units of currency (that’s 100 units plus an additional Research level).
Once I’ve paid for my tile, I need to place it on my personal board. I have two options: I can either put it on an empty space or place it on a space that’s already occupied by another tile. However, there are some rules I need to follow when it comes to tile placement:
Some blue spaces on the individual board can only be occupied if the transport has been previously built. This means that green squares with “Unusable space” symbols must be covered by a transport tile in order to place Infrastructure tiles later.
Once I’ve placed my tile, I need to adjust the energy and ecology totals on my individual board based on the symbols of the new tile (and possibly the symbols of the covered tile, which are canceled out).
In the game, if I replace my Coal-Fired Power Station with an Oil Fired Power Station, something interesting happens. I get more energy! Normally, the Coal station produces 2 energy, but the Oil station produces 4 energy. So, I get an extra 2 energy. That’s pretty cool, right?
But, there’s a trade-off. When I use the Oil station, it creates more pollution. The Coal station increases pollution by 1, but the Oil station increases pollution by 2. So, if I switch to the Oil station, my ecology score goes down by 1.
So, it’s like a double-edged sword. I get more energy, but I also make more pollution. I have to decide what’s more important to me: energy or a clean environment.
Overall, the meaning is that every choice we make has consequences. Sometimes we have to sacrifice one thing for another. It’s important to think about the effects of our choices and consider what really matters to us.
That’s one of the key lessons of the game. It’s not just about winning, it’s about understanding the impact of our actions. By playing the game, we can learn and grow. It’s a fun way to explore and discover new things.
For instance: when you cover your Green Belt with Toll roads, your ecology score goes down by 2. This means you lose the positive symbol of the Green Belt and gain a negative one. However, the good news is that you’ll now be able to use the spaces leading from the Toll roads to build infrastructures. Just a heads up: you can recalculate your energy and ecology scores anytime to make sure you haven’t made any mistakes.
Once you’ve completed both of your actions, it’s time for the next player to take their turn. The game continues in a clockwise direction, and a new turn begins.
The Game’s End
The game comes to an end when the player who has drawn the last Technology tile finishes their turn. At this point, it’s time for the final scoring. The scoring happens in the following order:
After the final count, the player with the most Prosperity points on the score track wins.
In the event of a tie, the money still in the players’ possession is used to break the tie.
Note: You can collect more than 50 Prosperity points. If you go over that amount, your marker goes back to the start but you get an additional 50 points.
