Multiple teams in the same game: In One Night game, you can have many different teams playing together. For example, you can have Aliens and Werewolves in the same game.

Setup

When you play Alien, you can use any combination of roles. But make sure you always include three more role cards than the number of players.

Each player gets one card and looks at it secretly. You can have as many Aliens as you want, but it’s best to use two regular Aliens, Groob, or Zerb for the best results.

Put the three extra cards face down in the middle of the table.

Each player also gets a Player Number token, numbered from 1 to the total number of players. To make the game easier for everyone, you can give players numbers that increase in a circle around the table, either clockwise or counterclockwise.

Meet Groob & Zerb

If we both happened to be in the game, things got even more interesting. You see, we each had a unique winning condition. Groob, for example, would only win if I met my untimely demise while they managed to stay alive. On the other hand, my victory hinged on Groob biting the dust while I remained alive and well.

Surprisingly, the village team would also triumph in either scenario, since they were able to eliminate at least one of the aliens. However, any other aliens would suffer defeat if either Groob or I were taken out.

Now, if only one of us was playing the game, they would join the alien team like any other player. A straightforward arrangement.

If both Groob and I were part of the game, things took a different turn. We would find ourselves on separate teams, adversaries rather than allies.

Leader

When I wake up as the Leader, I notice that all the players who are aliens are keeping their eyes closed and thumbs tucked. It’s a strange sight, but I understand the significance of it.

There’s a unique scenario that plays out when both Zerband and Groob are in the game and have seen each other with their eyes closed. Instead of putting out their thumbs, they point at each other. It’s an interesting twist to keep an eye on.

If Zerb or Groob is missing from the game, the Leader has an advantage and wins alongside the village team. It’s crucial to have the complete set to ensure victory.

However, if both Zerb and Groob are present, things get more complicated. The Leader can only secure a win if both Zerb and Groob survive until the end of the game. It adds a layer of tension to the gameplay.

Now, here’s a twist that could shift the game completely. If all the players on the alien team, including Zerband and Groob, point directly at the Leader, even if an alien is eliminated, the alien team triumphs and the village team faces defeat. It’s a risky gamble that can turn the tables.

And the second unfortunate soul? That would be the player with the second-most votes. Keep in mind, even if it’s just one vote, it counts if it’s the second-highest number.

If we have a tie for the most votes, only the people tied for the most votes are eliminated. But if there isn’t a tie for the most votes, and there is a tie for the second-most votes, we eliminate the person with the most votes, as well as those with the second-most votes.

If we find that only two of these groups are in play (because the other cards were in the center), then only the player or players with the most votes (as long as they have at least two) are eliminated. Both of the following win conditions must be met for each team to win:
