What’s New in Monopoly Ultimate Banking?
Monopoly Ultimate Banking is a fast-paced version of the classic board game. There are some important rule changes you need to know!
Houses:
Let’s talk about houses! The cool thing is, you don’t have to wait to own a whole group of properties to get your first house. As soon as you buy a property, you can put a house on it right away!
Here’s how it works: you place the house on the first square of the corresponding color group. This lets everyone know what the rent level is for that property.
Whenever someone steps on a space that I own, they have to pay me rent. But here’s the interesting part: every time they pay, the rent goes up!
And guess what? The same thing happens to me! If I land on one of my own spaces, I have to pay a higher rent, too.
Now, here’s where it gets tricky. I can move the house around, depending on how the rent changes. But there’s a catch – I can only have one house on each property.
Hey there! Let me break down the rent levels for you. The rent for any property can range from level 1 to level 5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. However, there’s a catch – once a property reaches level 5, it cannot go any higher!
Now, here’s something to keep in mind: rent cannot drop below level 1. So even if a property’s rent has been increased to level 5, it can’t go back down. The only exception is if the property is being returned to the Bank to pay off a debt. In that case, it becomes unowned again and the rent level is reset to 1.
Oh, and by the way, each property has a handy-dandy Title Deed card that shows all five rent values. It’s like a little cheat sheet to help you keep track of things.
If you ever forget how much rent you’re supposed to charge (the amount of money you should ask for when someone wants to live in your house), don’t worry! It’s actually really simple to find out how much rent you should be charging for any property you own.
I’ll show you how to tap the Title Deed card. It’s really simple, so don’t worry! First, find the card that says “Title Deed” on it. It might be a little hard to spot since there are so many cards, but keep looking and you’ll find it!
Once you’ve found the Title Deed card, all you have to do is tap it. Just lightly touch it with your finger, like this. Be careful not to press too hard or you might damage the card.
After you’ve tapped the card, you’ll need to press the button. This is really important because if you don’t press the button, the unit might think you want to buy the property or pay rent instead. So make sure you press the button after tapping the card.
And that’s it! You’ve successfully tapped the Title Deed card. Now you can continue playing the game. Have fun!
If you don’t press the button within 10 seconds, the unit will go back to the default screen all on its own. And speaking of screens, let’s talk about the gameboard.
Take a look at the board and you’ll see familiar property names from the classic game of MONOPOLY. But here’s the twist – there are no Chance or Community Chest spaces. Instead, you’ll come across Event and Location spaces.
Event spaces are those that contain Event cards. These cards have the power to impact your game in various ways. They can either lower or raise the rent levels, give or take money from you, or even send you to Jail!
Location Spaces give me the power to pay up and relocate to any property space on the gameboard. From there, I can choose whether to buy the property or raise the rent level on it. It’s like having a superpower!
The best part is that there’s no trading in the game. But don’t worry, this space is here to help us collect color sets. And let me tell you, if we use it smartly, we can dominate the game!
Money, Money, Money!
Now, let’s talk about the most exciting part. Can you believe there’s no cash involved in this game? Yup, you heard it right! The Ultimate Banking unit takes care of all the money matters for us. It’s a game-changer! With its help, managing finances becomes a piece of cake.
Bank cards are an essential part of the game. They help me keep track of my money and property. They make sure that I always know how much wealth I have.
Title Deed cards are also important. They help me keep track of the properties that I own. Each Title Deed card tells me the rent level for each property. This way, I always know how much money I can earn from my properties.
Event cards are another key component of the game. They keep me updated on what’s happening in my neighborhood. Every time I tap a card, it makes a sound. If I don’t hear a sound, it means that the tap hasn’t been registered.
Now, let’s talk about the setup of the game. Here are the steps you need to follow:
1. First, place the Event cards face down on the game board.
2. Next, separate the Title Deed cards by their color sets.
3. Finally, leave the houses by the Title Deed cards. And now, we’re ready to start playing!
Ready to get started? Let me break it down for you. We’re going to play a little game, and you’re going to need a token and a matching Bank card. Each player gets one of each. Simple enough, right?
Here’s How I Tap the Cards
I just lay the card flat, with the barcode facing down, on the card reader.
- Make sure the card covers the whole card reader.
- After each action, you’ll hear a sound. If you don’t, just try laying the card flat over the reader again.
Let’s Play the Game!
This is How You Win
- Start by buying properties – they’ll be worth money at the end of the game!
- Your goal is to have the most money and properties when any player goes bankrupt!
- The unit will figure out each player’s worth and declare the winner!
We’ll start with the youngest player, and then take turns clockwise.
- Okay, let’s roll both dice.
- You move your token clockwise around the board that number of spaces.
- Now, where did you land? Check the BOARD SPACES section of this guide to see what you have to do when you land on each board space.
Did you roll a double?
Go ahead and take your turn. Then roll the dice again and take another turn.
But be careful!
Understanding the Board Spaces
Properties without Owners (No Houses)
When you step onto a property that nobody owns, you have a choice to make: buy it or put it up for auction!
- To buy a property. Simply tap on the Title Deed card.
- Use your Bank card to make the purchase. Each property on the board has a specific cost. The bank will deduct that amount from your balance, and voila, you own it!
- Add a house to the Level 1 space on the property. Every time another player lands on that space, the rent goes up!
- Keep the Title Deed card in front of you.
- To auction a property.
Color Sets Mean Higher Rent
Hey there! Did you know that collecting color sets in the game can be a real game-changer? Well, let me tell you why. When you buy the last property in any color set, all the properties in that set instantly level up and charge higher rent!
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. If there are two or more players who own properties in the same set, the rent levels go up by one for each player. But if you’re the lucky one who owns the entire set, the rent shoots up two levels! And trust me, you’ll know when this happens because a fabulous fanfare will play!
Just remember, when the rents go up, make sure to move your houses to the right level. Oh, and here’s another tip: the color set bonus only happens the first time you complete the set. So make it count!
Okay, let me break it down for you. If you wanna know the rent price, just tap on the Title Deed cards. And don’t forget to press the button to keep the game going! It’s as simple as that!
Properties that I Own (with a House)
When I land on a property that someone else owns, I have to pay them rent. Here’s what I need to do:
- Tap the Title Deed card.
- Tap my Bank card. The right amount of rent will be taken from my balance and given to the owner. The rent will then go up on the property.
- Move the house up one level on the board space. Each time a player lands on the property, the rent goes up.
What if I Don’t Have Any Money?
If you’re short on cash and can’t pay off a debt, don’t worry! I’ve got you covered.
All you have to do is use the properties you already own to settle the debt.
If you’re the owner, the rent goes up – but it’s important to let me know!
- Simply tap on the Title Deed card.
- Then, tap your Bank card. I’ll display the new rent amount.
- Lastly, move your house up one level on the board space. The rent increases every time a player lands on your property.

Hey there! So, when you land on an Event space, something interesting happens. You gotta take the top card from the deck and read it out loud! Exciting, right?
- Now, when you tap the Event card on the unit, you gotta follow the instructions on the card. Simple as that!
- And hey, here’s a cool thing – when it says “tap any property,” you can pick any property you want! It doesn’t have to be one of yours!
- If you can’t do the action that’s on the card, don’t sweat it – just do nothing. It happens to the best of us!
- Once you’re done with an Event card, put it back at the bottom of the deck, okay?
- Oh, and here’s an important tip: if you move because of an Event card action, don’t pass GO. Just a little rule we gotta stick to!
Now, listen up, because some of these events can affect your neighbors too! You know, those properties next door, whether they’re just around the corner or one space away.
But guess what? These Event card changes only apply to properties that are already owned. So if the neighboring properties are unowned, it’s only the property you tapped that gets affected. Got it?
Let’s imagine this: if you’re next to Pentonville Road (no. 5), then that means Euston Road (no. 4) and Pall Mall (no. 6) are your neighbors – but only if they’re owned, of course!

So, when you land on a Location space, you have a few options. You can pay M100 and move to any property on the board. If you decide to do that, you can either buy the property or, if you already own it, raise the rent level. Of course, doing nothing is always an option too.
Here’s what you need to do if you want to move:
- First, tap the scroll button until you see the “Move” icon.
- Next, tap your Bank card to pay the M100.
- Now, you can move your token to any property space on the board.
- Once you’ve landed on a property, tap its Title Deed card.
- If you’re buying the property, tap your Bank card and put a house on level 1. If you already own it, tapping your Bank card will raise the rent level. Move the house up one level!
Remember: If you pass GO, you don’t get to collect M200. Just a little rule to keep in mind.

Just Checking In
Hey there! No need to panic if you end up on this space. Just enter your token in the “Just Visiting” area and you’ll be good to go.
It’s Jail Time
If you land on the In Jail space, uh-oh, you gotta stop right there! Don’t pass GO, don’t collect M200, and your turn is donezo.
While you’re stuck in Jail, sorry, but no collecting rent or joining auctions for you.
And hey, don’t bother tapping those property cards of yours while you’re in Jail. Nope, you won’t get any benefit from rent increases if someone happens to land on your property. Although, watch out for those tricky Event cards – they could still mess with your owned property even if you’re behind bars.
So, how can you escape from Jail?
Lucky for you, there are 2 ways out:
- When your next turn begins, simply pay M100 to the Bank. To escape Jail, tap your Bank card once the @uj.jpg icon is displayed. You’re now free to roll the dice and move as you normally would!
- If you manage to roll a double on your very next turn, congratulations! You’re free to leave Jail. Roll the dice and use the number to move along the board. However, your turn ends once you complete the action associated with the space you land on. Keep in mind, you have up to 3 turns to try and roll a double. But if, by your third turn, you haven’t rolled a double, you must pay M100 (as mentioned in the previous point) and use your final roll to move. If you don’t have enough money to pay the Bank and get out of Jail, refer to the section titled “If you owe the Bank.”
What Happens If I Don’t Have Enough Money
When you use your Bank card, the unit automatically calculates if you have enough money to pay off a debt. It first uses the money you have, but if that’s not enough, you’ll need to use your properties. The value of a property is the purchase price that’s printed on the board. You can choose which property or properties you want to cash in. If you owe another player, tap the Title Deed card(s) you’ve selected until you’ve paid off the debt. Then, leave the House on the property, at its current rent level, and give the Title Deed card to the other player. If you owe the bank, follow the same steps.
- If you owe money, you can pay off your debt by tapping on the Title Deed card(s) you want to use.
- Once you’ve paid off your debt, you must remove any houses from the property and give back the Title Deed card. This means the property is now available for another player to buy if they land on it.
End of the Game
- The winner is the player with the most money and property when another player goes bankrupt!
- The unit uses the total value of each player’s money and property (at purchase price) to calculate their finishing positions.
- Finally, the overall winner will be revealed and celebrated!

Note: If you go bankrupt to another player, any debt you don’t pay is covered by the Bank and included in your final wealth sum.
Can there be a tie?
If there’s a tie after calculating total wealth, the player with the highest-value property (purchase price) on the board wins. For example, a player with a dark blue space would beat a player with a green space.
Can I undo my last transaction?
You can cancel the following transactions:
- Paying rent
- Buying a property
- Collecting your GO salary
- Paying to get out of Jail
- Paying the Location space fee
You are NOT able to cancel event card transactions.
From the main screen, simply press and hold the “Buy” and “Sell” buttons for about 5 seconds. You’ll hear a sound, and your balance and ownership information will be updated.
Keep in mind that only the most recent transaction can be cancelled. If you’re in debt, you won’t be able to cancel the latest transaction.
Now, let’s talk about auctions. If you land on an unowned property and don’t want to buy it at the listed price, the property will go up for auction.
Anyone can bid in the auction, including the player who landed on the space. Just remember, if you’re in jail, you can’t participate in auctions.
Here’s what you need to do:
1. First, check how much money you have.
button and look for the

But, before you jump into the auction, let me share a few important tips with you.
- Remember, the auction has a time limit, so you’ll need to act fast!
- To place a bid, just press the button. Each time you tap it, your bid will go up by M20. Make sure to say the bid amount out loud whenever you press the button.
If you’re the last person to bid when the timer runs out, you’ll be stuck buying the property at the price displayed on the screen. So be careful!
Ready to start? Just press the button and the auction will begin automatically. Get ready to bid!
Once the auction ends, the person who won the bid needs to tap their Bank card to complete the purchase of the property.
To claim the property, you’ll need to place the Title Deed card in front of you. And don’t forget to put a house on the board space!
- What if nobody wants it? Don’t worry about it. Just press the button to keep going.
- What if the timer runs out before anyone bids? No problem! Just tap on the Title Deed card again to start the auction over.
