Marrakech Game Rules
Hey there! Let’s dive into the exciting world of the Marrakech game and its rules. This unique game will surely keep you engaged and entertained for hours.
First things first, let me explain how the game works. In Marrakech, players take turns moving their characters, called Assam, along the vibrant market streets. Your goal is to strategically place your colorful carpets on the market stalls, cleverly blocking your opponents and earning valuable points.
Now, let’s talk about the rules you need to follow to master this thrilling game.
There are a few basic rules that you should be aware of. First, you’ll take turns moving Assam along the market streets. To decide how far Assam moves, you’ll roll the dice. Exciting, isn’t it? You’ll also need to take into account the direction – Assam must move straight or make a 90-degree turn when reaching a junction. Simple enough, right?
Next, it’s important to understand how to place your carpets on the market stalls. When you land on a market stall, you must place one of your carpets on it. Here’s the catch: if your opponent’s carpet is already on the stall, you’ll have to pay them! So, be careful where you move Assam and choose your placements wisely.
Here’s another interesting twist. You’ll earn points in this game by covering market stalls with your carpets. The more stalls you cover, the more points you’ll score. Remember, every carpet you lay down will earn you precious points, so get those colorful pieces across the markets and claim your victory!
Oh, and I almost forgot. There’s a special kind of market stall called a “Rug Warehouse.” Whenever Assam lands on a Rug Warehouse, you’ll get to take a special action. It could be blocking an opponent’s stall or even moving an opponent’s carpet. These Rug Warehouses can truly change the game, so keep an eye out for them!
Lastly, let me give you a little tip. Strategy is key in the Marrakech game. Plan your moves carefully, predict your opponents’ actions, and use your carpets to your advantage. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. So, think wisely and aim for victory!
And there you have it – a glimpse into the fantastic world of the Marrakech game. Get ready to explore the bustling market streets, strategically place your carpets, and outsmart your opponents. Are you up for the challenge? Let the game begin!

Hey there! Have you ever heard of the rug market in Marrakesh Square? It’s an exciting place where salespeople work their magic to sell as many rugs as possible and make a fortune. The competition is fierce because everyone wants to be the top salesperson.
So, what’s the key to winning this game? It’s all about having the most visible rugs and holding the largest amount of money. The more rugs you have on display and the more money you accumulate, the better your chances of coming out on top!

Getting Ready
First, let’s set up for the game. Put Assam in the middle of the market square. Each player gets 30 Dirhams – that’s the currency we’re using. If there are 3 players, they each get 15 rugs of the same color. Place these rugs in front of you.
If there are 4 players, everyone gets 12 rugs of the same color. Now, we need to decide who goes first. After that, gameplay continues in a clockwise direction, with each player taking turns.
How to Play the Game
So, here’s what you need to know about playing the game:
- The first thing you do is move Assam, the main character in the game.
- If necessary, you may have to pay your opponent at some point.
- Lastly, you get to lay down one of your own rugs.
Moving Assam
Now, let me tell you about how moving Assam works:
Before throwing the dice, you get to choose which direction Assam will move. You can leave him in his current position or turn him either 90 degrees to the left or 90 degrees to the right. Just remember, you can’t make him do a complete 180-degree turn.
Once you’ve decided on the direction, it’s time to throw the dice. The number of slippers you see on the dice will tell you how many squares Assam can move. But here’s the thing – Assam can only move in a straight line, not diagonally. So keep that in mind!
Now, if Assam happens to leave the market, he has to turn around and go back. You can tell he’s turning around by looking at the arrows on the board. But don’t worry, the arrows don’t count as a move for Assam.
Trading Money with Other Players
If I land on someone else’s rug after moving, I have to give them some money.
The amount I owe depends on how many squares next to the square where I landed have rugs of the same color. I have to pay the same amount as the number of squares with rugs.
The squares need to touch each other directly, not diagonally. And the square I landed on also counts.
I don’t have to pay anything if I land on an empty square or on one of my own rugs.
Laying Rugs
When I play this game, I get to lay one of my rugs next to where Assam has finished. I have to make sure that one edge of my rug touches one of the four sides of Assam’s square.
I can lay my rug in different ways:
- I can place it on two empty squares.
- I can put it on an empty square and half of another rug, no matter what color it is.
- I can even place it on two halves of different rugs.
But here’s the catch: I can’t cover my opponent’s rug completely with just one of mine. I need to use two rugs to completely cover it.
End of the Game
The game is over when all the rugs have been laid down. Each visible half of a rug and each Dirham I have collected will count as one point. The player with the most points wins!
If there is a tie, the player with the most Dirhams will be the winner.
