Get Ready to Play the Knock Your Blocks Off Game
Welcome to the Knock Your Blocks Off game! Are you excited to start playing? I know I am! In this guide, I will explain the rules of the game and how you can have the most fun with it. So, let’s get started!
Objective of the Game
The objective of the Knock Your Blocks Off game is to knock down as many blocks as you can using a ball. You’ll have a paddle that you can move left and right to hit the ball and send it towards the blocks. The blocks will be arranged in different formations, and your goal is to clear them all!
Gameplay
When you’re ready to play, you’ll start by launching the ball from the paddle towards the blocks. You can move the paddle using the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard. As the ball bounces off the blocks and the walls, you’ll need to react quickly to keep it in play.
To knock down the blocks, you need to hit them with the ball. Each block has a number on it, representing how many times you need to hit it to make it disappear. As you hit the blocks, their numbers will decrease until they finally vanish. Your task is to clear all the blocks from the level.
But be careful! If the ball falls below the paddle and goes out of bounds, you’ll lose a life. You start the game with a certain number of lives, and you’ll lose one each time the ball escapes you. Once you run out of lives, it’s game over.
Power-ups and Bonuses
To help you in your quest to clear the blocks, there are various power-ups and bonuses that you can collect. These special items will give you temporary advantages, such as a wider paddle, a faster ball, or the ability to shoot lasers. Keep an eye out for them as you play!
Tips and Strategies
Here are a few tips to help you improve your gameplay:
- Move the paddle strategically to control the ball’s direction and increase your chances of hitting the blocks.
- Pay attention to the angles at which the ball bounces off the walls and blocks. Use this information to adjust your paddle’s position accordingly.
- Collect power-ups whenever possible to gain extra advantages and increase your score.
- Don’t panic if the ball starts moving too fast! Stay focused and believe in your abilities.
Remember, the Knock Your Blocks Off game is all about having fun and challenging yourself. So, enjoy the game, embrace the excitement, and knock those blocks off!

Hey there! Let’s play a fun game called Knock Your Blocks Off. The goal is to be the first player to collect 8 victory tokens by building, attacking, and defending block structures. Exciting, right?
Getting Started
Before we dive into the game, let’s set up the playing area. Find a smooth, flat surface for the game. Make sure each player has their own space to build a small structure. Remember, keep a distance of at least a foot from your opponent’s area.
- Now, every player needs six building blocks in the same color. Also, grab a matching “crown” block and a Structure Guide for easy reference during the game.
- Put the Demolition die in the center of the playing area.
- Place the victory tokens to the side, where everyone can reach them easily.
Let’s Play!
Knock Your Blocks Off consists of multiple rounds. Each round has two parts: the Building phase and the Destruction phase. Get ready for some block-bashing fun!
When we’re in the Building phase, we all roll our colored blocks and start constructing our structures. The aim is to match up the colors on the adjacent blocks as we go.
Now, here’s the fun part! As soon as I finish building my structure and place my special crown block on top, I get to grab the Demolition die from the center of the playing area. Of course, everyone else will be doing the same once they finish their structures and place their crowns. And when we’re all done, it’s time to score!
But wait, there’s more! In the Destruction phase, it’s time for some real excitement. We take turns attacking each other’s structures. What do we use? Well, that Demolition die I mentioned earlier, of course! We can flick, toss, or even drop it to try and knock off the crown block from our opponent’s structure. Just remember, each structure gives its builder special advantages for attacking or defending. Oh, and let’s not forget, we also earn victory tokens after each attack.
Building Phase
In this game, the first thing you do is get ready. I like to say, “Ready, Set, Build!” Then, I can start playing with my friends. We all have six building blocks that we roll like dice. It’s like a race! We have to build one of the structures shown on the Structure Guide. There are five different ones to choose from. We have to be quick and use our hands to build as fast as we can!
Building Rules
When building, you can use any of the side faces of the blocks. You’re allowed to turn them around as long as the top faces remain the same.
Blocks can only be placed so that the colors on adjacent blocks match up. This means a white edge can only touch another white edge, a blue edge can only touch another blue edge, and so on. Remember, this rule only applies to the sides facing you. You can ignore the colors on the other sides.
Take a look at the example below, as seen from the side facing the builder:

When playing the game, it’s important that all structures are built in a way that only the bottom row of blocks touches the playing surface. This ensures a fair and balanced gameplay experience.
Be the First to Finish – Get the Demolition Die
If you manage to finish your structure before the other players, you can place your crown block on top and grab the Demolition die from the center of the playing area. Other players should keep building and place their crowns on top once they’re finished.
Note: Keep in mind that once you’ve taken the Demolition die, you can no longer make any adjustments to your structure. If you want to make changes, you’ll need to return the Demolition die to the center first.
After you’ve made all the necessary adjustments to your structure, you can grab the Demolition die again, if it’s still available.
Check All Structures for Errors
To begin, I want you to carefully inspect each other’s structures for any mistakes. Remember, if there are any errors on the builder’s side, they will be visible on the opposite side for everyone to see.
If you spot any mistakes, the builder doesn’t have to rebuild the structure, but they will lose any advantages it would have given them.
If the player who grabbed the Demolition die is the one who made the mistake, they must pass it to the player who caught the mistake.
Now it’s time to award a Victory Token.
Lastly, the player with the Demolition die receives a victory token, unless the limits outlined in the Structure Guide indicate otherwise.
Destruction Phase
Note: These are the basic rules for attacks. However, each structure provides its builder with specific advantages that may override these rules. For more details, please consult the Structure Guide.
When it comes to breaking things, there are three approaches you can take, as displayed on the Demolition die:
When it comes to starting a round of the Demolition game, the player with the Demolition die gets to go first. It’s important to remember that this die determines your attack strategy.
Your target will be the player on either your left or right, so choose wisely. Once you’ve made your decision, it’s time to roll the Demolition die and find out how you’re going to strike!
To knock off your opponent’s crown, you’ll need to use the appropriate action. Keep in mind that you only get to try once, unless the Structure Guide says otherwise. And remember, the defender isn’t allowed to block or interfere in any way.

If you manage to hit the crown and knock it off the block (just a little touch on the playing surface is enough), you win a victory token. But if you miss and don’t hit the crown, the defender gets the token instead.

When playing the game, pass the Demolition die to the defender, making them the new attacker. The defender’s task is to attack the structure of the player on their other side, not the player who just attacked them (unless it’s a 2-player game).
This pattern continues, with attacks passing around in the same way, until the first attacker takes their turn as the defender.
Accidental Knockovers
If your structure is accidentally knocked over during a round, don’t worry! You have a chance to rebuild it.
If the incident happens during the Building phase, the new structure must adhere to the building rules. You have the option to reconstruct the same structure you originally built or create something different.

If the knockover happens during the Destruction phase, you have to rebuild the structure again, but this time you don’t have to follow the building rules.
Beginning a fresh Round
Once everyone has had their turn to attack and defend, it’s time to start a new round with another Building phase.
Put the Demolition die back in the center of the playing area. You can choose to build the same structure or a different one, depending on your strategy.

Game Over!
The game is over when a player has collected 8 victory tokens. Once this milestone is reached, the game ends right away, no matter if a phase hasn’t finished yet.

Variations
- If you can knock your opponent’s crown off without touching any other blocks, you’ll earn two victory tokens.
- To make the game harder, increase the distance for each attack type to two feet.
