Imhotep Game Rules
Hey, there! I bet you’re excited to learn all about the rules of the amazing Imhotep game. Well, look no further because I’ve got you covered. Imhotep is a fun and strategic board game that will challenge your decision-making skills.
So, what’s the goal of the game? The objective is to become the most successful builder in ancient Egypt by transporting stones to various construction sites. It’s a test of your planning and strategy, and it’s oh so much fun!
Now, let’s dive into the rules. The game is played over six rounds, and each round consists of four phases. In the first phase, you will select a boat and load it up with stones. Think carefully about which boat to choose, as it will determine where your stones can be delivered.
Once all the boats are filled, it’s time to move on to the second phase – transportation. You will take turns selecting one of the boats and decide where to deliver its stones. There are different construction sites available, each with their own requirements. You need to think strategically and choose the site that will earn you the most points.
In the third phase, you will place your stones on the chosen construction site. The rules for placing stones vary depending on the site, so pay close attention. Some sites require you to place your stones in a specific order, while others have restrictions on the number of stones you can place.
Finally, we have the fourth phase – scoring. At the end of each round, you will earn points based on the number of stones you have placed on the construction sites. The points are calculated differently for each site, so be sure to keep track of how many stones you have placed and where.
After six rounds, the game comes to an end, and the player with the most points is declared the winner. Remember, it’s not just about placing stones randomly – strategy is key!
So, are you ready to embark on this exciting journey through ancient Egypt? Imhotep is a game that will challenge your decision-making skills and keep you on the edge of your seat. Gather your friends, follow these rules, and let the building begin!
Did you know that Imhotep, an ancient Egyptian master builder, was responsible for constructing the very first pyramid in Egypt? His talents and achievements are legendary, making him one of the most brilliant individuals in history. Now, can you rise to the challenge and match his remarkable feats by creating your own architectural wonders?
Building majestic monuments requires careful planning and resource management. In order to transport massive stone blocks to different construction sites, you’ll need to command a fleet of ships. But beware! You won’t be the only one strategizing on where to send your ships and how to best allocate their cargo. Your opponents will be vying for the same resources, trying to thwart your progress at every turn.
In this highly competitive game, you’ll be engaged in a fierce battle for the most prized stone shipments. It will take a combination of skillful tactics and a touch of luck to emerge victorious.
The Goal of the Game
As an Egyptian master builder, I take on the responsibility of transporting stones and constructing magnificent monuments. Over the span of 6 rounds, my goal is to strategically earn the most points. When it’s my turn, I have four action options to choose from:
1. Get new stones.
2. Place one stone on the ship.
3. Sail one ship to a site.
4. Play one blue market card.
By delivering stones, I can earn points in various ways. Sometimes I’ll receive more points, sometimes fewer. The timing of the points can also vary. It could be right away, at the end of a round, or even at the end of the game. The player with the highest number of points at the end of the six rounds will be crowned the winner.
Now, let’s take a look at the components that make up this exciting game.
- You’ll need 120 Wooden blocks (which are called “stones”) in four different colors: black, white, brown, and gray. There are 30 blocks in each color.
- You’ll also need 5 site boards.
- There is a scoring track board.
- Don’t forget about the 8 ship tokens.
- Lastly, you’ll need 4 supply sled tokens, one in each color: black, white, brown, and gray.
- There are also 21 round cards and 34 market cards.
Getting Ready
Put the 5 site boards in the middle of the table, just like in the picture. Each board has two sides, A and B. For your first few games, use side A. You can try using side B in later games for a different way to play.
Put the scoring track board on the right side of the site boards. You’ll use it to keep score for all players. Keep the 8 ship tokens above the boards.
Hello there! Let’s get started on this fun card game. First, I want you to grab the 21 round cards and set them aside. Next, let’s shuffle the 34 market cards. Once shuffled, place them face down to create a draw pile on the right side of the “A) Market” board. Ready? Let’s go!
Hey there! I’ve got something exciting to share with you. Let’s talk about these awesome round cards. They’re perfect for playing with two, three, or four players. You’ll find a total of 7 of these round cards, specifically designed for these player counts.
Now, let’s focus on the two-person game. Out of those 7 cards, we’ve got a special set of round cards that have 2 heads on them. These unique cards are specifically made for the two-person game. How cool is that?
So, whether you’re playing with a friend, a small group, or even a larger gathering, these round cards have got you covered. They add an extra twist and fun to your gaming experience, ensuring that everyone has a great time.
Next time you’re planning a game night, remember these fantastic round cards. They’re bound to make your gaming sessions more thrilling and entertaining. Enjoy!

If you want to play a fun game with three people, all you need are the 7 round cards with 3 heads on them. It’s that simple!

To play a four-person game, you’ll need to use the 7 round cards that have 4 heads on them.
First, take out the 7 round cards that correspond to the number of players you have. You won’t need the other 14 round cards, so you can put them back in the box. Since you’re only going to play for 6 rounds, randomly choose one of your 7 round cards and put it back in the box as well. Now, shuffle the remaining 6 round cards and place them face down in a single stack next to the 8 ship tokens.
Next, each player should choose a color: black, white, brown, or gray. They’ll also get a supply sled token in that color. If you have fewer than 4 players, put the unused supply sled token(s) and stones of the unused color(s) back in the box. All of the stones should be placed in a pile to the right of the site boards, creating the stone quarry.
I’m about to explain how to set up and play a game. First of all, let’s get started with the setup. Every player puts one stone of their color on the “0/40” space of the scoring track. Now, to determine who goes first, you can decide among yourselves. The starting player will get 2 stones of their color from the stone quarry and place them on their supply sled token.
Now it’s time to distribute stones to the other players. The second player, who is sitting to the left of the starting player, will receive 3 stones for their supply sled token. The third player, to the left of the second player, will get 4 stones. And finally, the fourth player will receive 5 stones, each in their own color.
Now that the setup is complete, let’s move on to the gameplay. The game consists of 6 rounds in total.
Each round follows the same process. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Each player takes turns, one after the other.
2. During your turn, you can take one action.
3. After you’ve taken your action, play proceeds to the next player.
4. This continues until all players have taken their turns.
And that’s the basic flow of the game. It’s quite straightforward, but there will be plenty of strategic decisions to make along the way. Good luck and have fun playing!
At the start of the round, I turn over the top card. This card will show me which 4 ship tokens are available to me in this round. I then arrange these tokens to the left of my site boards. I make sure to space them out, not putting them too close together.
These ship tokens come in different sizes. Some have space for 4 stones, while others can hold 3, 2, or even just 1 stone. I need to keep track of how much space each ship has so I can plan accordingly.
[Image of ships with space for stones]
I make sure to place the ships in a way that allows me to maximize the number of stones I can transport. This requires careful placement and strategic thinking. I want to make the most of each ship’s capacity and make sure I don’t waste any space.
By paying attention to the available ship tokens and their capacities, I can make smart decisions and optimize my stone transportation. This will help me build my monuments and score more points in the game.
Example: So, let’s say you have flipped the round card that’s up there. If you did that, then what you need to do is get one ship with four stones, one ship with three stones, and two ships with two stones. Now, make sure you place them on the left side of the site boards, but don’t put them too close together. Got it? Great! Now, we move on to the next step.
A Turn in the Game
Okay, listen up! This is how a turn in the game works:
If it’s your turn, you have to pick one of these four actions and do it. No more, no less. Pay attention now!
Get Some New Stones
So here’s what you do: grab three stones that are the same color as you from the stone quarry. Don’t forget to choose wisely! Then, put those stones on your supply sled token. It’s like your personal stash of resources.
Now, Let’s Fill The Ships!
Next up, it’s time to load a ship with one of your stones. Imagine these ships as big, sturdy vessels waiting to be loaded up with precious cargo. And that cargo? Well, it’s your stones! So carefully select one stone from your supply sled and place it on a ship. Make sure it’s the right ship though. You don’t want your stone to end up on the wrong one!
Hey there! Let me break it down for you. Take one stone from your supply sled token and put it on an empty space on a ship that hasn’t gone to a site yet.
Send One Ship to a Site
If you want to send a ship to a site, there are two conditions you need to meet:
- The ship must already have the minimum required number of stones. The gray stone symbols at the front of the ship show how many stones you need. This number is different for each ship.
- The site you want to send the ship to must have an open dock. This means that no other ship has gone to that site yet in this round.
Once the ship is at the site, the stones on the ship are unloaded by the owner (shown by their color) one by one, starting from the front. These stones are then taken to the site. You don’t have to worry about any empty spaces on the ship.
Hey there! Let’s talk about the rules at each of the 5 sites. They all have different rules about what you get for delivering stones and when you get them. Are you ready? Here we go!
First, the market and the pyramid. These sites are assessed right away. That means you get your reward immediately after you deliver a stone there. Simple, right?
Next up, the temple. The temple works a bit different. You only get assessed at the end of each round. So, you’ll have to wait a little longer for your reward there.
Now, let’s talk about the burial chamber and the obelisks. These ones are special. Their assessment happens at the end of the game. Yep, you have to wait until the very end to find out what you’ll get for delivering stones to these sites.
Now, if you want to sail a ship but don’t have any stones on it, that’s totally fine. You’re allowed to do that. Just remember that two conditions have to be met: the ship must be empty, and you have to meet the requirements to sail. Easy peasy!
So, here’s the deal. You know how sometimes, there’s this space that’s so popular that everyone wants to go there? Well, imagine this – once a ship has sailed to that spot, it’s off-limits to any other ships for that round. Only one ship is allowed to make its way there each round.
Imagine this: you’ve just entered a world where pyramids, ships, and stones rule the land. It’s a world full of mystery and adventure, where every move counts. As you embark on your journey, you quickly realize that the key to success lies in understanding the importance of choosing the right strategy. So, let’s dive in and explore this fascinating universe together. Shall we?
Step 1: Sail the Four-Stone Ship
Picture a magnificent ship adorned with four stones, sailing towards an enormous pyramid. Your task is to deliver these stones to the pyramid, one by one, starting with the one closest to the front. Each stone you deliver earns you points, depending on the number value displayed on the space it’s placed in. The pyramid eagerly awaits your arrival, ready to reward your efforts.
Step 2: Play a Blue Market Card
Now, it’s time to tap into the power of the Blue Market Cards. These mystical cards hold the key to unlocking hidden treasures and gaining an edge over your opponents. Each Blue Market Card you play reveals a special ability or advantage that can significantly elevate your gameplay. Use them wisely, and watch as your strategies take flight!
Step 3: Plan, Scheme, and Outsmart
Remember, your success in this wondrous world hinges on your ability to plan, scheme, and outsmart your rivals. As you navigate through each step, keep in mind the double-edged sword that is strategy. With every move you make, you must carefully calculate the risks and rewards. Take into account the ever-changing dynamics of the game, and adjust your plans accordingly. It’s a challenge that will test your wit and cunning, but the rewards are worth it.
Step 4: Unleash Your Inner Adventurer
If you’re someone who thrives on the thrill of discovery and the exhilaration of competition, then you’ll love immersing yourself in this captivating world. It offers endless possibilities for exploration and strategizing, with new surprises waiting at every turn. So, embrace your inner adventurer, seize the opportunity, and embark on this mesmerizing quest. The world of pyramids, ships, and stones awaits!
Disclaimer: This is a fictional game guide. No actual pyramids, ships, or stones are involved.
If you have one of these cards, go ahead and play it to enjoy its benefits. Once played, the card will go on the discard pile. Remember, you can only play one blue market card during your turn.
Each player gets to take turns and perform one action. Your turn will come up several times in a round. The round won’t be over until all four ships have visited different sites.
Keep in mind that since there are only four ships available per round, one of the five site boards will always be left out!
When all four ships have visited the sites, the round comes to an end.
Now it’s time to evaluate the temple. Each visible stone from above earns you one point. This means that stones covered by other stones won’t give you any points.
Let me explain it to you: The temple is evaluated at the end of each round. Here’s how it works:
Imagine that the players are looking down on the temple from above. The gray player has 2 stones visible, so they get 2 points. The white, brown, and black players each have 1 stone visible, so they each get 1 point.
Getting Ready for the Next Round
Now that we understand how the temple scoring works, let’s prepare for the next round. Here’s what we need to do:
- Put the 4 ships back with the other ships.
- Collect any market cards that are still on the market board and put them in the discard pile.
- Leave all the stones on the site boards and the supply sled tokens where they are. We don’t need to move them.
And just like that, we’re ready to start the next round. Easy, right?
So, you’ve made it through another round, huh? Great job! Now, let’s move on to the next step: turning over the next round card. Go ahead and pick a card from the pile. This card will tell you which 4 ships you’ll be getting for this round. Once you know which ships to gather, place them to the left of your site boards.
Now, let’s refresh the market. Take 4 new market cards from the pile and put them on the market board. These cards will determine what resources and tools you’ll have access to in this round. So choose wisely!
By the way, the player who sailed the fourth ship in the previous round is the starting player for this new round. So, if that’s you, congratulations! You get to go first.
End of the Game
The game ends after 6 rounds, so time flies when you’re having fun, right?
But wait, we’re not done just yet. Once the game is over, we need to do some final point assessment. This is where the real competition happens!
Final Point Assessment (scoring)
Alright, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of scoring. First, we’ll take a look at the stones in the burial chamber. To find out how many points they’re worth, check out page 7 under the “A) Burial chamber” heading. It’s all explained there.
Alright, let’s take a look at the obelisks now. You can find the details about their point assessment on page 8, under the “A) Obelisks” section. The market cards with decorations and statues give you points based on what’s printed on them. And don’t forget, any unused blue market cards are worth an additional point each.
The player who has the most points wins the game. But what happens if there’s a tie? Well, in that case, the player with the most stones on their supply sled token takes the win. And if there’s still a tie after that, the tied players will share first place.
Now, let’s talk about a variant called “Wrath Of The Pharaoh.” If you’re looking for a bit more of a challenge, you can try playing with these stricter rules. Here’s one of them: you’ll face consequences if you don’t participate in building all four monuments.
So, there you have it! Keep these rules in mind and enjoy the game!
