How to Play

Welcome to the game where you make the rules! Pay attention to your opponents and come up with rules for them to follow. If you see someone breaking a rule, be fast and hit the buzzer to score. But watch out, because others will try to catch you too!

Getting Ready

Make sure the gameboard and buzzer are in clear view for everyone to see. Turn the buzzer on using the button located underneath. All the points in the game revolve around the buzzer, so remember to place it where everyone can easily reach it!

Alright, here’s how we get started. First, everyone needs to pick a pawn in their favorite color and put it on the START space. Nice and easy, right?

Now, let’s grab those 6 Create-Your-Own Rule Cards from the deck and set them aside for a moment. Take the rest of the cards, give them a good shuffle, and deal 2 to each player, face-down. You can take a peek at your own cards.

The remaining cards form the draw pile. Keep them next to the gameboard. Oh, and don’t forget the 4 orange card mats too. If there are only 3 of us playing, we’ll just use 3 mats.

Look at you, being all responsible and reading the instructions. Since you’re the one who took the initiative, you get to go first. Lucky you!

Let’s Play!

  1. First, draw a card from the draw pile. This is how your turn begins.
  2. Next, play a card from your hand to make a brand new rule. This is how your turn ends.

If there are no more cards in the draw pile, keep the top rule cards in play, remove all the other cards, and shuffle them together to make a new draw pile.

Using Rule Cards

Rule Cards are what create the rules that players must follow in the game. Each turn, you have to decide which rule card to use from your hand. You can only play one card per turn. There are three different types of rule cards in the deck, and each one has a different effect on the game.

A. The Best Rules

Here are some great rules to help you navigate the complexities of life:

  1. Be Kind: Treat others with respect and compassion. Always think about how your words and actions may affect others.
  2. Work Hard: Put in the effort and dedication needed to achieve your goals. Success often comes from hard work and perseverance.
  3. Stay Honest: Honesty is the best policy. Always tell the truth and take responsibility for your actions.
  4. Be Grateful: Appreciate the good things in your life and express gratitude to others. Gratitude can lead to happiness and positive relationships.

When you play the game, there are two types of cards you need to know about: Top Rule Cards and Bottom Rule Cards. These cards work together to create rules for the players.

First, let’s talk about Top Rule Cards. They are white cards that determine which players the Bottom Rule Card applies to. You’ll find these cards already printed on the gameboard when you start playing.

To play a Top Rule Card, simply place it on the gameboard in its assigned spot. If there’s already a Top Rule Card in that spot, replace it with the new card.

Now, let’s talk about how these cards work. When you play a Top Rule Card, you have to read the entire rule card combination aloud for everyone to hear. This means you’ll read the Top Rule Card and the Bottom Rule Card together.

For example, if you have a Top Rule Card that says “Everyone wearing jeans” and a Bottom Rule Card that says “must only whisper”, you would read aloud: “Everyone wearing jeans must only whisper”.

It’s worth noting that you can play a Top Rule Card even if the bottom rule card space is empty.

That’s all you need to know about Top Rule Cards and Bottom Rule Cards. Have fun playing the game and creating unique combinations of rules!

The blue Bottom Rule Card is like a boss that tells the Top Rule Card how to behave.

Bottom Rule Cards have their special spot on the gameboard.

When you want to play a card, just put it on top of another card of the same kind. Then, let’s read both cards out loud! For example, if you have a card that says “Everyone wearing jeans must play air guitar before playing a card,” you’ll need to say it so that everyone knows.

C. Individual Rule Cards

An Individual Rule Card is a rule that only matters to one person. If you get this card, you have to follow it on top of any other rule cards you have. Remember, though, you can only have one Individual Rule at a time. And there can’t be more than 4 Individual Rules at once, unless you’re playing with 3 people, then there can only be 3.

When you want to play an Individual Rule Card, simply place it on one of the orange card mats. If there’s an available card mat, you can take one. But if all the mats are being used, you can still take one from another player, including yourself.

Take the Individual Rule Card from your hand and place it on top of the previous card on the mat. Then, give that mat to another player who doesn’t already have an Individual Rule.

When it comes to rules, I always make sure to read them out loud. Take this rule, for example:

“Before playing a card, this player must give a high five.”

Keeping Score and Making Noise

Hey there! Let’s talk about scoring in this game. It’s actually pretty simple – all about that buzzer! So here’s the deal:

  1. If you buzzed correctly and caught someone breaking a rule, you get to move your pawn FORWARD 2 spaces towards the Champ space. Even if you caught more than one person breaking the same rule, you still only move forward 2 spaces.
  2. If you’re the rule breaker, you move your pawn BACKWARD 1 space towards the Wrong Way space. But don’t worry, you can never move past the Wrong Way space, so you’re always in the game!
  3. Remember, you only have 1 chance to buzz a rule breaker. If more than 1 turn passes and nobody buzzes, the rule breaker gets away with it! So make your move!

If we come across a dispute about whether a buzz was right or not, we all need to vote and decide together. Majority wins, and if we can’t agree, then nobody gets points and the game keeps going.

The game ends when the first player reaches the CHAMP space. That player is the winner!

By the way, you can also create your own rule cards to make the game even more fun!

You’ll find 6 special cards in the pack that let you make your own rules! There are 3 blank cards for bottom rules and 3 blank cards for individual rules. Just come up with your own funny rules, write them down, and mix them in with the rest of the deck. It’s like adding your own secret ingredient to the game!
