But when I, the Queen, was ready to select the treasures that I wanted to bestow on my subjects, I was shocked to find that the box was completely empty! Some sneaky thief had stolen all my precious items and was making a swift escape!

Without those treasures, the celebration cannot take place, and there isn’t much time left before daybreak when the festivities are supposed to begin. It is crucial that we find the stolen items!

Luckily, near the castle, there is a group of friendly gnomes who have always been loyal to me, the Queen.

So, I decided to call upon two of my most trusted gnome friends to help me in this time of need. They will be the ones to search for the treasures and bring them back to me. The thief was last seen running through the complicated maze of the castle, dropping the stolen items along the way.

Now, dear friend, the gnomes and I need your assistance. We need you to guide the gnomes through the maze as quickly as possible, finding all the treasures scattered about so we can reclaim them in time for the festivities. Time is ticking, so don’t delay!

• 4 corner start cards

Now, let’s talk about what this game is all about. In “Gnome Gnomes,” the goal is to help these adorable gnomes find as many treasures as they can before time runs out. It’s a cooperative game, so you’ll be working with your friends to achieve this special mission.

Getting Started

Before you start playing, make sure to set up the game. Place the game boards in the middle of the play area, and each player should choose a magnetic gnome mover. Put the treasure cards nearby, within everyone’s reach, and don’t forget to set up the plastic posts and corner start cards as well.

To begin, empty all the playing pieces from the box, but be sure to leave the base inside.

Next, attach the two posts to the indicated spots on both sides of the box bottom. Together, we can choose which maze game board we want to play with, and then insert it into the posts so that the board stands upright in the box.

The game boards have different levels of difficulty labeled as A through D. Level A is the easiest, B is a little harder, C is even harder, and D is the most challenging.

We should start with level A and gradually work our way up to D.

• Let’s shuffle the four corner start cards and place them face down next to the box.
• We should also shuffle the 12 treasure cards and place them in a pile next to the starting cards, face down as well.
• Don’t forget to place the sand timer in a spot where everyone can see it.
• And finally, make sure to set out the two gnome movers.

When you play this game, you and another person will sit on opposite sides of the board. The rules I’m about to share are specifically for a game with only two players.
