Ready to Get Bit? Learn the Game Rules!
Welcome to the exciting world of Get Bit! If you’re new to this fun and thrilling game, let me guide you through the rules and get you ready for some action-packed adventure!
Objective:
The objective of Get Bit! is to survive and reach the end of the race with as many limbs as possible. Sound intriguing? Let’s dive into the rules and get you started!
Rule 1: Setting Up
First, gather your friends and grab the Get Bit! game board. Make sure each player has their own robot figure. Now, shuffle the numbered cards and deal one to each player. The lowest numbered card goes first, and the others follow in ascending order.
Rule 2: The Race Begins
Time to start the race! Each player begins by placing their robot figure on the starting line. The player with the lowest numbered card goes first. Ready, set, go!
Rule 3: Player Turns
During your turn, you start by selecting one of the three numbered cards in your hand. These cards determine the order in which the robots move. Once everyone has chosen a card, reveal them simultaneously.
Rule 4: Robot Movement
Here comes the thrilling part – robot movement! The robot with the lowest card moves forward one space, followed by the next lowest, and so on. If two or more robots have the same card value, they do not move and stay in their current position.
Rule 5: The Hazard of Being Last
Remember, being last has its disadvantages in Get Bit! If your robot is at the back of the pack, it risks losing a limb. When a robot reaches the last position, its tail gets bitten off, literally! The bitten-off tail is removed from the figure.
Rule 6: Surviving and Winning
As the race progresses, robots lose limbs one by one. If a robot loses all its limbs, it is eliminated from the race. The last robot with at least one limb remaining is the winner!
Rule 7: Multiple Games and Strategy
Now that you know the basic rules, feel free to play multiple games to hone your skills and develop strategies. Watch your opponents closely, anticipate their moves, and adapt your strategy to stay ahead.
Remember, in Get Bit!, survival is the name of the game. Are you ready to outsmart your friends, avoid getting bitten, and make it to the finish line with your limbs intact? Get Bit! and find out!
When we play the game “Get Bit,” each player gets a swimmer and a hand of seven cards that match the swimmer’s color. But in a five-player game, we take out the number 7 card from each player’s hand. And in a four-player game, we remove both the number 7 and the number 6 cards from each player’s hand.
Now, let’s line up the swimmers in the center of the table, one behind the other. The order they stand in doesn’t matter. At the end of the line, right by the last swimmer’s feet, we place the Shark card. And then we can start playing!
Time to Play!
“Get Bit” is played in rounds, with three simple steps: playing cards, moving swimmers, and avoiding the shark bite!

Start the Game
Are you ready to play? Great! To begin a round, we need to play our cards. Here’s how it works: each player will choose a card from their hand and put it face down on the table.
Once everyone has placed their cards down, it’s time to reveal them. Flip all the cards face up and let’s see what we’ve got!
Let’s Get Our Swimmers Moving!
Hey there! If I show a tie (which means my card has the same number as someone else’s), I won’t be able to move my swimmer this time. But don’t worry, you still have a chance to make a splash!
Here’s how it works: the player with the lowest number on their card gets to move their swimmer first. Then, it’s the turn of the player with the second-lowest number, and so on. We take turns moving our swimmers to the front of the line.
Example: Let me tell you a story about swimmers named John, Anne, Beth, and Ted. They had a fun game where they had to choose a number to play. Here’s how the game went:
I’ll start with John. He chose number 4. Next up was Anne, who picked number 1. Then it was Beth’s turn, and she chose number 4 as well. Lastly, Ted selected number 3.
Now comes the exciting part! We need to figure out who gets to move to the front of the line first. Anne’s number is the lowest, so she gets to go first. Ted is next in line because his number is higher than Anne’s and doesn’t tie with anyone else.
Now, here’s where it gets tricky. John and Beth’s numbers tie, so their swimmers don’t get to move this round. Tough luck for them!
Important: During the first round, we’re going to skip the Get Bit step. Just a heads up!
Get Bit
If the swimmer at the end of the line has no remaining limbs, they are removed from the table. However, if there are still limbs left, the swimmer is moved to the front of the line. As the swimmer at the front of the line, you pick up your cards and return them to your hand.
Now, if you have fewer than two cards in your hand, you also need to pick up your cards and return them to your hand. But don’t worry, the other players can leave their cards on the table.
The Game’s End
We repeat these three steps until only two swimmers remain on the table. Once that happens, the swimmer at the front of the line wins the game! So, do your best to make it to the front and claim the victory!
