Setup

Let’s start by setting up the game. First, the Kingdom cards. Shuffle the Prosperity Kingdom cards together with the basic Treasure and Victory cards to create the Supply. Then, choose 10 Kingdom cards to include in the game. You can randomly select the cards or use any other method you prefer.

Next, each player starts with 7 Copper cards and 3 Estates. Shuffle your starting deck and draw 5 cards to form your starting hand. Place the remaining cards face down as your draw pile. Find a clear space to form the play area, and you’re ready to go!

Gameplay

Dominion Prosperity is a deck-building game where your goal is to obtain victory points and create a prosperous kingdom. On your turn, you can perform the following actions in any order:

• Play an Action card from your hand. Follow the instructions on the card.
• Buy a Card: Spend your Treasure cards to purchase cards from the Supply. Each card has a cost, indicating how much Treasure you need to spend to buy it.
• Clean-up: Once you’ve finished your turn, place all cards you played and bought into your Discard pile. Then, if you have fewer than 5 cards in your hand, draw enough cards from your draw pile to make your hand size 5.

Money and Victory Points

In Dominion Prosperity, there are two main types of cards: Treasure cards and Victory cards. Treasure cards provide you with money, while Victory cards are worth points towards the end of the game.

When you play Treasure cards, you add up their values to determine how much money you have to spend. Use this money to buy more cards from the Supply, including Action and Treasure cards.

Victory cards, on the other hand, don’t have any monetary value. Instead, they have point values indicated on the card. Collect as many Victory cards as you can to earn victory points.

Ending the Game

The game ends when either all Province cards are gone from the Supply or any three piles of Kingdom cards are empty. At this point, players count up their victory points. The player with the highest total wins the game and becomes the ruler of the prosperous Dominion!

Setup

Getting started with Prosperity is simple and fun. Here’s what you need to do:

To play this expansion, you’ll need the Treasure cards, Victory cards, Curse cards, and Trash card from either the original Dominion game or a standalone expansion like Dominion: Intrigue.

Just like in previous Dominion games, you’ll need to choose 10 sets of Kingdom cards for each game. You can either select the sets randomly or shuffle the randomizer cards from this expansion with cards from other Dominion games you have.

If you’re only using Kingdom cards from Prosperity, you’ll want to add the Platinum and Colony piles to the Basic cards in the Supply for the game.

So, here’s the deal. If we’re playing with cards from Prosperity and other sets, we need to decide whether to include Platinum and Colony in the Supply. And the way we do that is randomly, considering the number of Prosperity cards versus the non-Prosperity ones we’re using.

Hey there! Let me give you an example. Here’s what you can do: pick a random Kingdom card from the deck, like the first one you deal out. If that card belongs to the Prosperity set of cards, then add Platinum and Colony to the game. Now, Platinum and Colony aren’t actually Kingdom cards, but when you include them, you end up with a total of 10 Kingdom cards in addition to Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Estate, Duchy, Province, Colony, and Curse. When playing with 2 players, you’ll need 8 Colonies. But if you have 3 or more players, make sure to have 12 Colonies in the game. Simple, right?

This expansion comes with 8 player mats and tokens for the Bishop, Goons, and Monument Kingdom cards. The mat is like a little board where you can keep all the tokens you collect with those cards.

Here’s the cool thing: you don’t even need the mat right at the beginning of the game. You just grab one whenever you need it. And guess what? The mats all have different pictures on them, but they all do the same thing. So you can pick the one you like the best!

If Trade Route is being played, you’ll want to mark each pile of Victory cards with a Coin token at the beginning of the game.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. When anyone gains a card from one of these piles, the Coin token gets moved to the Trade Route mat. The more tokens you have on the mat, the more coins Trade Route will produce. And if you’re playing with both Colony and Trade Route, guess what? Colony gets a token too!

But wait, there’s more! Tokens are not limited, so if you need more, simply use a substitute.

Let the Game Begin

+X – So here’s the deal: when you play this card, you get X tokens. It’s a pretty sweet bonus. And get this, you grab those tokens from the pile of unused ones, not from another player. But here’s the catch: you can only take this action if you haven’t taken any tokens before. If it’s your first time, you even get this cool player mat to keep track of ’em. These tokens aren’t private, by the way. Anyone can see how many you’ve got. And just so you know, there’s one big token and five little ones. Feel free to swap ’em around if you need to make change.

When the game is over, I add up the tokens I have and add them to my regular score. If I run out of tokens, I find something else to use to keep track of any additional tokens I may earn. There’s no limit to the number of tokens I can earn. Tokens are used by Bishop, Goons, and Monument.

During the Game

The cards that I play face-up go to a special area called “in play.” These cards stay there until they are moved somewhere else, usually when they are discarded during the Clean-up phase.

Only the cards that I have played are considered “in play.” Cards that I set aside, cards that I have trashed, cards that are in the Supply, and cards in my hand, deck, and discard pile are not in play. Reaction abilities, like the ability of Watchtower, don’t put those cards into play. Duration cards, from the Dominion: Seaside expansion, remain in play until the turn they are discarded.

When you play the game Prosperity, you’ll come across some special cards called Treasure cards. They’re different from the regular Treasures because they have unique abilities. If these cards are chosen as part of the 10 Kingdom cards for the game, they’ll be in the Supply. But they’re not included in the Basic Supply.

Just like normal Treasures, these special ones are played during the Buy phase and are affected by cards that deal with Treasures. You can play them in any order you want, and you can even choose not to play some or all of the Treasure cards in your hand.

During the Buy phase, you need to play all the Treasures you want to play before buying any cards, even if you have extra Buy actions. Once you’ve made a purchase, you can’t play more Treasures.

End of the Game

If you’re playing with Platinum and Colony, there’s another way the game can end.
