Clank! The Mummy’s Curse Game Rules
Hey there, adventurer! Ready to embark on an epic journey through mysterious tombs and face the wrath of the ancient pharaohs? Well, you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, I’ll walk you through the rules of the thrilling game, Clank! The Mummy’s Curse. So grab your gear and let’s get started!
First things first, let’s talk about the objective of the game. Your main goal is to explore the treacherous depths of the pyramid, retrieve priceless artifacts, and make it out alive. Sounds simple, right? Well, not so fast. The Mummy’s Curse won’t make it easy for you. The pyramid is filled with traps, curses, and deadly guardians that will do anything to stop you.
To begin your adventure, you’ll need to choose a character. Each character has unique abilities and starting cards. Take some time to read through their abilities and choose the one that suits your play style the best. Remember, every decision matters in this game, so choose wisely!
Once you’ve chosen your character, it’s time to enter the pyramid. The game board represents the different rooms of the pyramid, and each room holds its own dangers and rewards. Movement through the rooms is done by playing cards from your hand. These cards not only allow you to move but also provide you with precious resources and abilities.
As you explore the pyramid, you’ll come across artifacts. These artifacts can be traded in for valuable points at the market. But be careful, the more artifacts you collect, the more noise you’ll make. And guess what? The mummy doesn’t like noise. The more noise you make, the angrier the mummy gets, and the harder it becomes to escape the pyramid. So be stealthy, or suffer the consequences!
Another important aspect of the game is acquiring skill cards. Skill cards can be gained by visiting the market or defeating monsters. These cards grant you powerful abilities that can turn the tide of the game in your favor. So make sure to collect as many skill cards as you can!
Now, let’s talk about Clank. Clank is the noise you make as you move through the pyramid. It’s represented by cubes that are added to the Clank area when you play certain cards. But here’s the catch: the more Clank cubes you have, the higher the chances of attracting the mummy’s attention. And trust me, you don’t want that. So be mindful of your Clank and try to keep it to a minimum.
As you gather artifacts and skill cards, the mummy’s rage will increase. This is represented by advancing the mummy marker on the rage track. Once the mummy has had enough, it will awaken and start chasing you. When this happens, you’ll need to make your way back to the entrance and escape before it’s too late. The mummy won’t hold back, so be prepared for a thrilling and heart-pounding race to the finish line!
So there you have it, adventurer! The rules of Clank! The Mummy’s Curse. I hope this guide has prepared you for the exciting challenges that await you in the pyramid. Remember, choose your character wisely, be stealthy, collect artifacts and skill cards, and keep your Clank to a minimum. Good luck, and may the ancient gods be on your side!

Setup
Hey there! Welcome to Clank! The Mummy’s Curse. This expansion pack brings a bunch of new and exciting stuff to the game.
If you choose to use the game board from The Mummy’s Curse, here’s what you need to do:
- The board is divided into four zones, each with its own symbol. These zones have spaces for the Mummy marker, which isn’t connected to any room. At the beginning of the game, place the marker in the space for the Vt zone.
- Next to the Goblin monster card, add the new Mummy monster card to the Reserve.
I’ll break it down for you on how to set up the game. First, grab the pyramid die and put it next to the board. Then, find the Supreme Monkey Idol and place it in the designated spot on the board. When you shuffle the Secrets cards, mix in the new Major Secrets (Mummy’s Treasure and Mummy’s Chalice) and Minor Secrets (two Scarabs) with the original ones. If you don’t have enough spaces on the board, just return any extra Secrets to the box without peeking at them.
Whether you’re using The Mummy’s Curse board or a different one, there are a few more steps. Take the Market Board and place it beside the main board. This area will be your Market, so put all the Market items on it. Don’t forget to place the two Ankhs with the other Market Items on the Market Board. Finally, put the 24 Curse tokens in the Bank next to the board. And there you have it! You’re all set to start playing.
OK, 5th graders, let’s dive into a thrilling adventure with The Mummy’s Curse! To start off, grab those shiny new cards and shuffle them into the Dungeon Deck. Just a tip: for your first game, it’s best to leave out the cards from the Sunken Treasures expansion. But hey, feel free to mix things up and add them in if you want!
Now, setup is pretty much the same as CLANK! A Deck-Building Adventure. So, you know the drill. Get everything ready just like you normally would.
Now, let’s talk about what’s waiting for you inside the tomb. Brace yourself for some curses! These bad boys can really throw a wrench in your plans, so watch out. You never know what kind of trouble they’ll bring.
Alright, young adventurers, get ready to embark on an epic journey through the cursed tomb. Remember, every decision you make can lead to fortune or doom. Choose wisely and may luck be on your side!

When we play a game, sometimes we have to take a Curse token from the Bank. But don’t worry, there are ways to get rid of the Curse, and it’s only from ourselves, not from our opponents. We can send it back to the Bank where it belongs.
Here’s the thing: every Curse we have at the end of the game makes our score go down by 2 points. So it’s definitely something we want to avoid!

The new board has tunnels marked with Curse icons. When I go through one of these tunnels, I have to take a Curse token for each Curse icon I see.
The Mummy
The Mummy is another monster that doesn’t get discarded when I defeat it. The Mummy’s Curse board has four zones in total: three in the Depths and one above them. I can only fight and defeat the Mummy when it’s in the same zone as the room I’m in.
There are two ways to defeat the Mummy, and each way has its own reward. If I use two Swords, I get 4 gold and also take a Curse. If I use three Swords, I can remove half of my Curses, rounded up.
The number of Curse tokens I have is not limited. If I run out, I can use any acceptable substitution.

I’ve got something pretty cool to tell you about defeating this scary Mummy in a game. So, each time you manage to beat the Mummy, you gotta roll this pyramid die. And guess what? The result of the roll determines where you place the Mummy next. How awesome is that?
Now, if this Mummy happens to move (which means it doesn’t stay in the same place), everyone in the new zone it ends up in gets cursed. Sounds spooky, right? But don’t worry, you can handle it!
Oh, and did I mention that some cards in the game have a special “Arrive” text? Well, when you play those cards, you gotta roll the pyramid die too, just like when you defeat the Mummy. That’s right, it moves the Mummy in the same way. So cool!
And here’s the best part. You can actually defeat the Mummy more than once during your turn. Isn’t that amazing? Of course, you might need to follow it to another zone to do that, but hey, it’s totally worth it for the victory!

Hey there! Guess what? I’m in this room called the zone, and it’s a little bit spooky because there’s a Mummy in here with me. But don’t worry, I’ve got this! I have two Swords, and I use them to defeat the Mummy. It’s not as scary as it sounds, I promise! Oh, and after I defeat the Mummy, I get to take 4 gold and a Curse token from the Bank. How awesome is that?

Alright, I just beat the Mummy, and now it’s time to roll the pyramid die. Let’s see where the marker goes!
Oops, I rolled a , so the Mummy marker gets moved to that zone. But wait, the blue player is already in a room in that zone, so something spooky is about to happen!
Yep, you guessed it. The blue player gets cursed. Yikes!

So, here’s what happens. The red player takes her turn, and then something interesting happens in the Dungeon Row. You see, when that row is empty, it gets refilled with new cards. And this time, one of those cards happens to be the Whiskersphinx. And let me tell you, this card has something special called the Arrive text. What does it say? It says to roll the pyramid die! How cool is that?

So here’s what happened: The Mummy marker didn’t budge, so it’s staying right where it is. The blue player doesn’t have to deal with another Curse because the Mummy didn’t move.
Something New to Discover
Uncovering the Mummy’s Hidden Gems

Hey there! Let me tell you about two exciting secrets in the game – the Greater Treasure and the Chalice. These secrets are just like the ones in the original game, and they can really boost your score!
The Greater Treasure is super valuable and worth 5 Gold. The Chalice, on the other hand, is worth a whopping 7 points. So, finding one of these is a big deal!
But here’s the twist – when you uncover one of these secrets, you have to roll the pyramid die. And depending on the result, the Mummy will start moving around. So be careful!
Scarab

Listen up! I’ve got a little secret that will give you a big advantage in the game. It’s called the Minor Secret, and it’s definitely worth paying attention to. But shh, keep it hush-hush!
The Almighty Monkey Idol

I’m excited to share with you the amazing Supreme Monkey Idol! This awesome token is worth a whopping 10 points. Can you believe it? That makes it extra special and more valuable than other monkey idols out there. But here’s the thing, even though it’s at the top of the idol hierarchy, it’s still treated like any other monkey idol in every other way. So, you can enjoy the prestige and importance of having the Supreme Monkey Idol while knowing that it follows the same rules as its counterparts. How cool is that? Get your hands on the Supreme Monkey Idol today and experience the power of this unique and highly coveted token. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Hey there! I have some exciting news for you. There’s a brand-new Market Item available for purchase. And guess what? It’s an Ankh! Just like any other Market Item, you can buy it. The best part is that when you do, you’ll heal 1 damage. The cost of the Ankh is 7 gold, and at the end of the game, it’s worth a cool 7 points.
Getting an Artifact
In the original rules of CLANK!, artifacts were obtained when you entered a room and chose to pick one up. But hold on, because there’s been a rule change (whether you’re playing this expansion or not): now, you have the option to take an artifact as an action during your turn, even if you didn’t just enter the room with the artifact.
Let me give you some examples. You might enter a room and see an artifact, and decide to grab it on a later turn while you’re still in that room.
Oh, and here’s a cool trick. If you’re already carrying an artifact and you enter a Market room that has another one, you can first buy a Backpack and then pick up the new artifact. Pretty neat, right?
