Welcome to Clank! Expeditions: Gold and Silk. We’ve got an exciting new game board for your adventures, featuring two different sides, each with its own special rules. Let’s dive in!

The Dwarven Mine

Getting Started

First things first, let’s set up the game. Place the three mining bonus tokens in their designated spaces on the board, right below the Clank! area. Keep in mind that the entrance to the dungeon is not at the usual top left corner but rather towards the right side of the board.

Collecting Gold

As I traverse through the mine, I come across veins filled with precious gold. These veins extend into one or two rooms, and when I find myself in such a room, I have the option to spend an action and mine the gold.

When I decide to mine, I take the indicated amount of gold from the bank and cover that amount on the game board with one of my Clank! cubes. However, if I don’t have any Clank! cubes left, I won’t be able to mine at all.

Whenever I cover a vein of gold with a Clank! cube, that particular vein becomes inaccessible and cannot be mined again. It’s important to note that once I mine a vein of gold, I won’t be able to use my Boots to move for the rest of my turn, although I can still use teleportation.

Mining Bonus

Once the game is over, it’s time to tally up the points. The bonus rounds are all about the gold veins you’ve mined. It doesn’t matter how valuable they are – the focus is on quantity.

The player who mined the most gold veins is awarded a special prize – the 20 point Mining Bonus token. This is a big deal and can make a huge difference in the final score.

But don’t worry if you didn’t mine the most. The player who mined the second most gold veins gets a 10 point Mining Bonus token, which is still a nice boost. And even the player who mined the third most gets recognized with a 5 point token.

Unfortunately, there is no bonus for the fourth player. Sometimes, luck just doesn’t go your way.

Now, here’s an interesting twist. If multiple players have mined the same number of gold veins, things get a little more intense. The player who mined the deepest vein, closest to the bottom edge of the board, gets the more valuable token. This adds an extra layer of strategy and suspense.

Remember, you can only claim one Mining Bonus token per player. To be eligible, you must have mined at least one vein. So make sure you put your mining skills to work!

To play the game, you need to keep track of your score. If you die in the Depths, you won’t get a bonus token, and the next player will take the best remaining token.

The Importance of Elevators

In one corner of the game board, there are two elevators that lead to the Depths. These elevators provide a convenient way to move around, but they come at a cost – you have to pay the bank every time you use them.

The Lair of the Spider Queen

Setting up the game is the same as in CLANK! A Deck-Building Adventure, with one exception.

Setting Up

Instead of the usual 7-point artifact token, this board features a new 8-point artifact. It follows all the same rules as the regular artifacts.

Here’s what you need to do: Take all 12 Web tokens and mix them up so you can’t see their point values. Then, put one token on each web space on the board, choosing randomly.

What are Web Tokens?

In the Spider’s Lair game, some sections start with a Web token. To pass through a Web token, you need to use either a Sword or an extra Boot. This is because without one of these, you won’t be able to make that move.

When you use a Sword or an additional Boot, you take the token from the board and put it face down in front of you.

Once a Web token is removed, the path is clear. After that, whenever a player uses it, they don’t need any extra resources.

When the game ends, the point values on the Web tokens you’ve collected are added to your score. You can always look at the tokens you’ve collected, but their values are kept secret from your opponents until the end of the game.

Now, let’s talk about Webbed Rooms.

Listen up! I’ve got some insider’s info on the Spider’s Lair, specifically those rooms with webs. Now, these webbed rooms are no ordinary rooms – they’re hiding some seriously cool stuff like gold, juicy secrets (some big, some small), and even monkey idols. Pretty rad, huh?

But here’s the catch: to get your hands on these treasures, you gotta “cut them loose” from the web. And how do you do that, you may ask? Well, it’s simple. When you enter a webbed room, you gotta fork over a Sword. Yep, you heard me right. One Sword, please!

Now, don’t fret if you’re running low on Swords or you just don’t feel like spending one. You can still try your luck! Just exit the room and come back in for another go at claiming your prize. Easy peasy, right? No extra resources required.

But Wait, There’s More!

Hey there! Have you noticed the treasure Cache at the top corner of the board? It’s filled with eight awesome treasures collected by the Spider Queen. And guess what? You have the power to claim one of them during your turn!

If you have , you can spend it to take the treasure of your choice. Just mark it with one of your Clank! cubes. But hey, if you don’t have any cubes left, you’ll just have to sit back and browse the web without taking anything. Bummer, right?

Here’s the thing though – each option in the Queen’s Web Cache can only be taken once throughout the game. The eight options have different rewards, like gold, healing (which you can use right away), and Boots or Swords (which you must use on that very same turn).

Oh, and there’s more! Some options also grant you a Secret Tome, which you can snag from the Reserve (if there are any left) and add it to your discard pile, as if you had obtained it in a regular way.
