Components

Setup

First, take a look at your deck and choose a Prime card that you want to use as your Persona. Place this card face-down on the table.

When it’s my turn in the game, I have a lot of options to choose from. Here are a few things I can do:

• I can play a card if I haven’t already played one this turn.
• I can activate an ability of one of my Followers or Primes, but only if they are refreshed.
• If my Champion is refreshed and I haven’t dueled yet this turn, I can initiate a duel.

End Phase

Once I decide that I’m done with my turn, I need to follow these steps in order:

• If I have any abilities that say “When you end your turn,” they will trigger.
• If necessary, I discard down to my maximum hand size, which is usually seven cards by default.
• All damage is removed from any Followers I have in play. Then the turn ends, and the next turn begins.

Choosing my Persona

When you start playing Age of Primes, you get to choose a Prime card from your deck. This Prime card represents you, and it’s called your Persona. Your Persona is special because it can’t be defeated, unlike other cards in the game. Once you select your Persona, it stays in play for the entire game, and you can’t switch to a different Persona.

Getting a Unique Character

So, when you want to add a new Unique Character to your party, there’s something you need to know. You can’t have more than one character with the same name in your party at the same time. That means if you already have a Unique Character named Sarah, and you find another one with the same name, the new Sarah will take the place of the old Sarah. The old Sarah gets sent to your Trash, which is kinda sad, but that’s just how it works.

How do you know if a character is a Unique Character? Well, just look for the diamond symbol next to their name. That’s a dead giveaway!

When you choose to play a Follower or Primes (excluding your Persona) from any location, it’s called Recruiting. The recruited characters come onto the field already exhausted. This means they can’t use abilities that require them to exhaust, like activating Prime abilities or starting duels.

The Follower at the front of your group is known as your Champion. The Champion’s role is to battle enemy Champions and safeguard the rest of your group.

During your turn, your Champion has the option to initiate a duel with an enemy Champion. Both Champions involved in the duel will inflict damage equal to their respective Might on each other.

If either Follower takes damage equal to or exceeding its own Might, that Follower loses the duel and is defeated (placed into the Trash). A Follower’s Might value can be found in the top right corner of its card.

If there aren’t any Followers in the enemy’s party, you can have your Champion engage in a duel with the enemy Persona. During this duel, your Champion will inflict damage to that Prime equal to its Might.

Aside from Primes and Followers, you also have the ability to play Action cards. These cards represent one-time events and secret strategies that allow you to interfere with your opponents and further your own goals.
