The Fascinating World of Government Shipyard Contracts
Have you ever wondered how governments build their naval fleets, repair their vessels, or procure new ships? The answer lies in an intriguing process called government shipyard contracts. Let me take you on a journey to explore the inner workings of this captivating world.
The first thing you should know is that government shipyard contracts are not limited to one country or region – they are a global phenomenon. Shipyards around the world eagerly compete for these contracts, as they can be immensely profitable and provide a steady stream of work. But what exactly are these contracts, and why are they so important?
Government shipyard contracts are agreements between governments and shipyards that outline the construction, repair, or acquisition of naval vessels. These contracts are typically awarded through a competitive bidding process, with various shipyards submitting their proposals for consideration.
Now, let’s delve into the significance of these contracts. Governments rely on their naval fleets to protect their borders, enforce maritime laws, and project power on the global stage. To ensure their naval capabilities remain intact, governments must constantly maintain and upgrade their vessels. This is where shipyard contracts come into play.
By awarding contracts to shipyards, governments can ensure their vessels receive the necessary repairs, maintenance, and modernization. These contracts often involve a range of activities, such as hull repairs, engine overhauls, and the installation of advanced weapon systems. Through these contracts, governments can keep their fleets in peak operational condition.
Furthermore, government shipyard contracts contribute to job creation and economic growth. Shipyard projects require a skilled workforce, including engineers, welders, electricians, and many other tradespeople. As shipyards undertake these contracts, they create employment opportunities for local communities.
It’s worth mentioning that bidding for government shipyard contracts is a highly competitive process. Shipyards must carefully assess the specifications and requirements outlined in the contract, submit a detailed proposal, and demonstrate their expertise and capabilities. Winning a contract can significantly elevate a shipyard’s reputation and open doors to future opportunities.
In summary, government shipyard contracts play a vital role in ensuring the functionality and longevity of naval fleets worldwide. They facilitate the construction, repair, and modernization of vessels, contribute to economic growth, and create employment opportunities. The world of government shipyard contracts is a fascinating one, where shipyards compete fiercely to secure these coveted agreements.
When I finish testing out my ships, I keep them right in front of me. These ships are the ones that I will use to score points in the game. But I have to be careful because not all completed ships will earn me points. Some of them might even get taken apart!
Keep in mind: The ships that I leave in my Shipyard won’t score any points. Only the ones that make it through the scoring requirements will count towards my Government Contracts.
At the beginning of the game, I was given three Contracts in each color. But don’t worry, by the end of the game, I’ll have one green Contract and one blue Contract left. You can find all the details about this in the Game Play section.

Did you know that you earn 3 points for every businessman-crane duo in your fleet? It’s true! To qualify as a pair, both the businessman and the crane need to be on the same ship.
#image.jpg
If you have more than one businessman, you’ll earn 2 points for each additional businessman in your fleet. So, if you have 5 businessmen, you would earn a total of 8 points.
#image.jpg
You earn 6 points for every boat in your group that has a sail, a smokestack, and a propeller. Did you know that even if a ship has two of each piece, it’s still only worth 6 points?
#image.jpg
When you have a soldier and a cannon on the same ship in your fleet, you earn 3 points for each pair. It’s important for the soldier and cannon to be together in order to count as a pair.
#image.jpg
So here’s the deal – if you’ve got more than one soldier, you’re in luck. Because for every extra soldier you’ve got in your fleet, you’re gonna get a nice little boost of 2 points. Pretty neat, huh?
#image.jpg
Hey there! Did you know that you can score 8 points for every ship in your fleet that includes one businessman, one soldier, one crane, and one cannon? Pretty neat, right?

When you have two sails on the same ship, you score 3 points. It doesn’t matter if you have more sails on other ships, only the pair on one ship counts towards your score. For example, if you have 3 sails on one ship and 1 sail on another ship, you only get 3 points. But if you have 2 sails on each of two ships or 4 sails on one ship, you get 6 points. So the more pairs of sails you have, the higher your score!

In your fleet, every officer will contribute 3 points towards your score. However, your captains will not earn you any points. To provide some context, let’s say you have a fleet consisting of 3 ships and a total of 7 captain pieces distributed across them. Out of those 7 pieces, 3 are captains and will not be counted for points. The remaining 4 pieces are officers, and each officer contributes 3 points. Therefore, the officers will earn you a total of 12 points.

When you have a fleet of ships, you earn points based on the number of different Equipments or Crew elements in your fleet. The table on your card will tell you how many points each element is worth. There are eight different elements in total, including propeller, smokestack, sails, crane, cannon, businessman, soldier, and officer (which is an extra captain piece in a cabin).
#image.jpg
In my fleet, I earn 3 points for every pair of smokestacks. To be considered a pair, both smokestacks must belong to the same ship.

When you have propellers in your fleet, each one earns you 3 points.

When you use a Canal, you receive 4 points. Make sure to keep them in a stack in front of you, just like how it’s described in the Shakedown Cruise chapter.

When you have lifebuoys in your fleet, you earn points based on the number of them you have. You can refer to the table on the card to see how many points each amount of lifebuoys is worth. For example, if you have 6 lifebuoys, that is worth 12 points. And for every additional lifebuoy you have above 6, you get one extra point.
#image.jpg
When you look at the table on the Contract, you can see how many points you get based on the number of ships in your fleet that have exactly 5 Ship Cards. For example, if you have three ships with 5 Ship Cards each, you’ll get 15 points.

Have you ever wondered how you earn points in the game? Well, it’s simple! You gain points by having Ship Cards in your fleet. The more Ship Cards you have, the more points you earn. But how do you know how many points each Ship Card is worth? That’s where the table on the Contract comes in. It tells you exactly how many points you’ll get for each Ship Card.

If you want to earn points, all you need to do is count the lanterns in your fleet. The card has a handy table that tells you how many points you’ll get for each lantern. It’s as simple as that! Just tally up your lanterns and see how many points you earned.
#image.jpg
So here’s how it works: you’ll earn points for each ship in your fleet that has exactly 6 Ship Cards. Take a look at the Contract table to see how many points you’ll get for each ship. Let’s say you have two ships in your fleet, and both of them have 6 Ship Cards. In that case, you’ll earn points for both ships! The more ships you have with 6 Ship Cards, the more points you’ll accumulate.

Hey there! Let me explain how scoring works in this game. It’s actually quite simple. Here’s the deal:
Each Employee is worth one point, up to a maximum of four. If you have four Employees, you get four points. But wait, there’s more!
If you have more than four Employees, each extra one is worth two points instead of one. So, if you finish the game with seven Employees, they’ll be worth a total of ten points. Cool, right?
That’s the scoring system. Now go out there and collect as many Employees as you can! Good luck!
#image.jpg
When you play this card, you’ll earn points depending on how many lifeboats you have in your fleet. Look at the table on the card to see how many points you can gain.
#image.jpg
Hey there! Did you know that you can earn points by having enough Ship Cards in your fleet? It’s true! The more ships you have with at least 7 Ship Cards, the more points you’ll get. Check out the table on the Contract to see how many points you can earn.
#image.jpg
If you collect a blue, yellow, or orange Employee Card, you will earn two points. It’s that simple!
#image.jpg
So, here’s the deal: you rack up points depending on how many ships you’ve got in your fleet. Take a look at the table on the card to see how it all adds up.
#image.jpg
When you have all three safety measures for each ship in your fleet – that means at least one lifebuoy, at least one lifeboat, and at least one lantern – you gain 5 points for each ship.
Keep in mind: Even if a ship has two lifebuoys, two lifeboats, and two lanterns, it is still only worth 5 points.

When it comes to the Shipyard game, scoring points is essential. And I’ll tell you how you can do just that! You see, your points in the game are determined by the number of different types of Employees you have in your Shipyard. Let me explain.
In the game, Employees come in different colors: yellow, orange, blue, green, and brown. Each color represents a different type of Employee. So, the more variety you have in your workforce, the more points you’ll earn!
But that’s not all! In the game, there are higher-level traders and lower-level traders. These higher-level traders are also considered to be a different type from the lower-level ones. So, if you have a mix of both in your Shipyard, you’ll rack up even more points!
So, remember, to maximize your points in the Shipyard game, you’ll want to have Employees of different colors and include both higher-level and lower-level traders in your workforce. The more variety you have, the more points you’ll earn. Good luck!
