When setting up the game, I placed the Small Houses on the top four spaces of the Game Board, which are marked in green. These Small Houses have the same building costs and each one is worth 1 Victory Point (VP).
For your first move, I suggest using the light green Starter Houses. If you decide to build more than one of these Houses, you can choose the order in which you use them just before the November Inventorying. Here is some more information about each of the Small Houses:
Farmer’s House
Plow Maker’s Workshop
Novice’s Hut
Workshop
Costs: To build the Small Houses, you’ll need 1 Building Material and 1 Grain. Once constructed, each Small House is worth 1 Victory Point. It’s a simple and affordable way to increase your score!
Ability: Before the month of November, which marks the end of each Summer Half Year, you’ll receive some bonuses. You’ll get 1 Wood and an additional action, called a “Master” action. This action allows you to move your Tool Indicator one space to the right. It’s a great way to boost your resources and abilities!
If you’re playing the game multiple times, you can choose 4 of the dark green Small Houses to include in each game. These Small Houses have a different design on their back side, making it easy for you to differentiate them from other green buildings.
Each Small House comes with its own unique ability that can be used at any time during the game, particularly during the Work Phase. These abilities may seem a little tricky at first, but don’t worry! I recommend starting with the Weaving Parlor, Colonist’s House, Carpenter’s Workshop, and Schnapps Distillery. They offer a good balance of usefulness and simplicity, making them perfect for beginners!

Carpenter’s Workshop
Hey there! Welcome to the Carpenter’s Workshop! If you’re curious about the fascinating world of woodworking, you’ve come to the right place. Woodworking is an ancient craft that has stood the test of time. It combines creativity, precision, and skill to transform a simple piece of lumber into a functional and beautiful work of art.
Woodworking offers a wonderful sense of satisfaction. When I get in the workshop and start crafting, I feel a deep connection with the wood and the history of this craft. There’s something magical about working with your hands and seeing the transformation unfold before your eyes.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced woodworker, it’s essential to choose the right tools and materials for your projects. The tools of the trade can vary depending on what you’re working on. From saws and chisels to sandpaper and finish, each tool has its own purpose and adds to the overall success of the project.
Another crucial aspect of woodworking is understanding different types of wood. Each type has its unique characteristics, such as color, grain pattern, and hardness. By knowing the properties of different woods, you can make informed decisions about which type will work best for your project.
Safety is always a top priority in the Carpenter’s Workshop. It’s crucial to take proper precautions and use protective equipment like safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection. The workshop can be a bustling and noisy place, so it’s important to keep yourself safe and avoid any accidents.
Woodworking is also a highly versatile craft. You can build everything from simple furniture pieces like chairs and tables to intricate cabinets and decorative items. The possibilities are endless, and you’re only limited by your imagination.
At the Carpenter’s Workshop, we believe that woodworking is not just a hobby but a way of life. It’s a journey of creativity, ingenuity, and self-expression. So, whether you’re a seasoned woodworker or just starting out, we hope to inspire you to keep exploring and creating in this incredible world of woodworking. Are you ready to dive in and discover the magic of woodworking? Let’s get started!
Costs: To build a Stable, you will need one Building Material and one Grain. This is what it takes to get started. But don’t worry, it won’t break the bank!
Worth: A Stable is worth one Victory Point. So not only will you have a functional building, but you’ll also be one step closer to victory!
Ability: Here’s where it gets exciting. With a Stable, you have the power to upgrade your Stalls. Whenever you want, you can pay four Food and one Brick to transform one of your Stalls into a Stable. And the best part? You don’t have to pay the usual two Bricks on top of that. Keep in mind, though, there are only three Stables available, so choose wisely!

Costs: To get this upgrade, you’ll need one Building Material and one Grain, which will earn you 1 Victory Point.
Ability: Here’s the cool part: during the Work Phase, you have the power to put 1 Peat on any empty Single Space of your Vehicles. And guess what? You can do this as many times as you want and for as many Vehicles as you have! But remember, you only get the Peat from your Vehicles when you empty them. Keep in mind that the Peat you’re using comes from the general supply, not your own Moor Tiles. Unfortunately, you can’t use the Double Space for this. It’s a bit of a bummer, I know.

Imagine this: you’re playing a game and you come across a special type of building – one that gives you an instant reward as soon as you build it. Pretty cool, right? Well, these buildings exist, and they’re known as “Immediate Benefit Buildings”. Not only do they give you a one-time reward, but they also give you victory points at the end of the game. So, once you’ve received your reward, you can focus on other parts of the game and forget about these buildings. It’s like a secret bonus that boosts your chances of winning. How awesome is that?
Here on the Game Board, you’ll find four spaces for the Small Houses. Take a look below those, and you’ll see two spaces for the Minor Craft Buildings – they’re painted yellow to stand out. These buildings all have the same cost to construct. When starting the game, you get to choose two of these buildings to add to your play.
Now, let’s talk about the specific buildings you can choose from:
Turnery
Smokehouse
Smithy
Cooperage
Costs: To build a Bakehouse, you will need 1 Timber and 1 Brick. Worth: Once constructed, the Bakehouse will provide you with 4 Victory Points (VP) towards your total score. Ability: As soon as you build the Bakehouse, you can use its ability once. This ability allows you to count the number of Dairy Animals you own. Dairy Animals refer to Sheep and Cattle. Depending on the number of Dairy Animals you have, you can increase the position of each of your six Goods Indicators on their respective tracks. If you have 5 Dairy Animals, you can move each Goods Indicator up by 1 space. With 10 Dairy Animals, you can move each Goods Indicator up by 2 spaces. And if you have 15 Dairy Animals, you will be able to boost each Goods Indicator up by 3 spaces.
Bakehouse
Building a Bakehouse requires 1 Timber and 1 Brick, and it is worth 4 VP. The Bakehouse has a special ability that can be used only when building it. For each Oven you have, you can exchange 2 Grain and 1 Flax for 8 Food. Make sure to keep the Ovens.
When we start playing the game, we need to put the 6 Main Craft Buildings in the orange spots on the Game Board. These buildings have different names and costs, and they are always included in “Fields of Arle”.
Mill
Weaving Mill
Requirements: 2 Bricks and either 10 Flax or 10 Woolen. Value: 7 Victory Points. Special Ability: Right away (and just once), you get 1 Winter Wear and can move your Weaving Loom Tool Indicator (up to) 2 spaces to the right for free.
The House of Textiles>
Costs: To build the Saddlery, you will need 1 Brick and 2 different types of Clothing. You can choose from Summer, Winter, or Leather Wear. Worth: The Saddlery is worth 9 Victory Points. Ability: Once you build the Saddlery, you will immediately receive 1 Linen, 1 Woolen, and 1 Leather.
Saddlery
Joinery
Waterfront House
Costs: To obtain this, you will need 2 Bricks and 25 Food. Worth: This item is worth 10 VP (Victory Points). Ability: Once you have acquired it, you can use it immediately. This means you can only use it once. When you use it, you will receive back 10 Food from the 25 Food that you initially paid. Additionally, you will also receive 2 Dikes. These Dikes will be moved from their current position at the bottom and placed in the next available gaps above the Dike Line. Finally, you will have the opportunity to move your Fish Trap Tool Indicator up to 3 spaces to the right without any cost.
When you start playing the game, you need to choose three of the blue Inn Tiles and place them on the blue spaces at the bottom left of the Game Board. All the Inns have the same building costs.
For your first turn, I suggest using the Potter’s Inn, Farmer’s Inn, and Junk Dealer’s Inn.
Potter’s Inn
Farmer’s Inn
Junk Dealer’s Inn
Gulf House Inn
Milk House Inn
Sluice Yard Inn
Costs: To build the Fish Trap, you will need 2 different building materials and 9 units of food. Worth: The Fish Trap is worth 4 victory points. Ability: When you activate the Fish Trap, you can move the Fish Trap Tool Indicator one space to the right without any cost. This ability can only be used once. After moving the indicator, you will receive 1 unit of wood for each fish trap you have. For example, if you have 2 fish traps, you will receive 2 units of wood. If you have 3 fish traps, you will receive 3 units of wood, and so on.
At the start of the game, you should put the red Large Buildings right beside the Inns. These Large Buildings all have the same cost to build and each of them is worth 15 Victory Points (VP).
Now let’s talk about the Village Church.
When it comes to Lutetsburg Castle, Berum Castle, they both have their own unique features and benefits that you should consider. Let’s take a closer look and see which one is right for you.
Costs: With Lutetsburg Castle, you’ll need 3 Timber, 3 Bricks, and 15 Food to construct it. On the other hand, Berum Castle requires a different set of resources.
Worth: Both castles will add 15 Victory Points (VP) to your score, which is important for winning the game. So, you can’t go wrong with either choice.
Ability: Now, let’s talk about the special abilities of each castle. With Lutetsburg Castle, you’ll immediately receive a free Wedding Carriage. This is a valuable addition to your Barn, but keep in mind that you can only get it if there are still Carriages available on the Supply Board.
When it comes to Berum Castle, it has its own unique ability that you should consider. Unfortunately, the details about its ability are currently unknown. Therefore, I encourage you to do some more research and ask for advice from other players before making your decision.
In conclusion, both Lutetsburg Castle and Berum Castle have their own advantages and costs. I hope this information has helped you in understanding the options available to you. Ultimately, the choice is yours, and it’s important to select the castle that best suits your strategy and preferences. Good luck!
In order to obtain this item, you will need to gather 3 Timber, 3 Bricks, and 15 Food. Once obtained, this item is worth 15 Victory Points. The ability of this item is quite unique. It allows you to instantly and automatically move each of your Tool Indicators for Ovens and Weaving Looms 1 space to the right, completely free of cost. This ability can only be used once. Furthermore, upon acquiring this item, you will also gain an additional action called “Tile Upgrade.”
A Comprehensive List of Travel Destination Tiles
Hey there! Just wanted to give you a heads-up about placing Travel Destination Tiles on your Vehicles. You can only do this if you sell at least one of the items shown on the tile right away. Oh, and you can only sell the items that are actually depicted on the tile, no extras!
Now, when you make a sale, you’ll get some Food in return. You know, that tasty stuff that keeps you going. But remember, you can’t hold onto more than 30 Food at a time. Gotta snack smart!
Speaking of Food, it comes in handy for a few things. First, you’ll need it to build the “Waterfront House” and those fancy Large Buildings and Inns. And of course, you need it to keep yourself fed and happy. Can’t adventure on an empty stomach, right?
Oh, and a little heads-up about the tiles. The size of each tile tells you how much space it needs on your Vehicle. You’ve only got 19 spaces on your home board’s Travel Experience Track, so keep that in mind. When you move a Travel Destination Tile from your Vehicle to the track, it’ll cover anywhere from 1 to 4 spaces, depending on its size. So plan wisely!
Let me take a moment to explain the different travel destination tiles to you:
- Hage (1): When you go to Hage, you can remove a Field from your Home Board and receive 1 Food.
- Beemoor (1): If you choose to visit Beemoor, you can remove 1 Peat from your supply (but not from your Home Board) and in return, you will receive 2 Food.
- Dornum (1): At Dornum, you have the opportunity to return a Plow from your Barn to the Supply Board. As a reward, you will receive 8 Food.
- Norden (2): When you visit Norden, you can sell 1 to 3 of the items depicted. If you decide to sell a Sheep, you will get 4 Food. If you sell Winter Wear, you will receive 7 Food. Alternatively, you can return a Peat Boat from your Barn to the Supply Board and get 5 Food.
- Aurich (2): Aurich offers you the chance to sell 1 to 3 of the items shown. If you sell Leather, you will get 4 Food. Selling a Horse will give you 5 Food. If you have any other type of Animal, you can sell that too and get 4 Food. Remember, you cannot replace Leather with Leather Wear, so choose wisely!
- Esens (2): Sell between 1 and 3 of the items you see here. For every 2 Grains you sell, you’ll receive 4 units of Food. If you have a Hide, you can sell it for 2 units of Food. And if you have some Woolen, you can sell it for 4 units of Food.
- Emden (3): You have the option to sell between 1 and 4 of these items. For each Winter or Leather Wear you sell, you’ll receive 7 units of Food. And if you have any Summer Wear, you can sell it for 6 units of Food. Also, as an alternative, you can give up 1 Peat from your supply (not from your Home Board) and get 3 units of Food.
- Leer (3): You can sell between 1 and 4 of these items. If you have Flax, you can sell it for 2 units of Food. Selling Linen will get you 3 units of Food (and you can’t replace it with Summer Wear). If you have any Cattle, you can sell them for 5 units of Food. And if you have any Summer, Winter, or Leather Wear, you can sell them for 6 units of Food each.
Bremen (4): When you play this action, you have the option to sell a certain number of items depicted on the card. Depending on the item(s) you choose to sell, you will receive a specific amount of Food. If you decide to sell Timber, you will receive 5 Food in exchange. If you have 2 Animals of the same type, you can sell them and receive 9 Food. Another option is to sell a set of Linen, Woolen, and Leather, which will grant you 12 Food. Lastly, if you have a set of Summer, Winter, and Leather Wear, you can sell it and receive 30 Food. However, it’s important to note that any excess Food will be lost. In addition to selling items, you have another choice. You can remove a Moor Tile from your Home Board, regardless of the side facing up or whether there is still Peat left on it. This includes the small Moor Tile that had Peat from the start of the game. When you remove the tile, any Peat on it will be lost. Although you won’t receive any Food for this action, you won’t lose any points for the tile either.
