Actions First Round in Alchemists

By: Dennis B. B. Taylor

What to Do Initially

So, you’ve decided to take on a new challenge – how exciting! But where do you start? What are the first steps you should take to get things moving? Don’t worry, I’ve got your back. Here are some key actions you should consider when embarking on a new journey.

Hone Your Strategy

Before diving headfirst into the unknown, it’s crucial to develop a solid plan. Think about what you want to achieve and how you will go about it. Take the time to outline your goals and break them down into smaller, more manageable tasks. By doing so, you’ll have a clear roadmap to follow and be better equipped to tackle any obstacles that come your way.

Research and Gather Information

Knowledge is power, as they say, and it’s no different in this case. Take the time to do your homework and gather as much information as possible about the topic at hand. Consult reputable sources, talk to experts in the field, and gather insights from those who have walked a similar path before. This wealth of information will not only help you make informed decisions but also open your mind to new ideas and perspectives.

Start Small and Build Momentum

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your new venture. It’s important to start small and gradually build momentum. Begin by tackling the smaller tasks on your list and gradually work your way up to more significant challenges. This approach will not only prevent overwhelm but also allow you to celebrate small victories along the way. Remember, every journey begins with a single step.

Prioritize and Delegate

As you progress on your new path, it’s important to prioritize your tasks and delegate where appropriate. Identify the most critical actions that need your immediate attention and focus your energy on those. At the same time, don’t be afraid to ask for help or delegate tasks to others who can contribute to your success. By distributing the workload, you’ll free up valuable time and energy to concentrate on the aspects that truly require your expertise.

Stay Flexible and Adapt

Life is full of surprises, and your journey is no exception. It’s crucial to stay flexible and be prepared to adapt as needed. Circumstances may change, new information may arise, and unexpected challenges may present themselves. Embrace these moments as opportunities for growth and learning. Be open to adjusting your strategy and approach if necessary, and always remember that the ability to adapt is a vital skill on any journey.

Connect and Seek Support

Embarking on a new adventure can be exhilarating, but it can also be daunting at times. Don’t go it alone – seek support and connect with like-minded individuals who can offer guidance, encouragement, and inspiration. Join online communities, attend networking events, or reach out to mentors in your field. Surrounding yourself with a supportive network will not only help you stay motivated but also provide valuable insights and perspectives to enhance your journey.

So, there you have it – some essential first steps to take when starting a new chapter in your life. Remember, this is just the beginning, and the journey ahead is full of opportunities and possibilities. Embrace the unknown, stay open-minded, and let your passion and determination guide you. Here’s to your exciting new adventure!

When you’re searching for a specific ingredient, sometimes it takes a little extra time in the forest. Don’t forget to bring a sturdy walking stick to protect yourself from wolves, bears, and other alchemists.

When it’s your turn to find an ingredient, you have two options. You can either take a visible ingredient from the row or draw a random one from the deck. Keep in mind that once a card is taken, it’s not replaced, so if you wait too long, your choices may be limited. Once all the visible ingredients are gone, your only choice is to draw from the deck. (Of course, you can also choose not to take an ingredient and instead move your cube to the unused cubes space).

After everyone is done with their moves, I’ll clear any ingredients that are still face-up on the board and place them face down in the discard pile. Then, when we start the next round, I’ll deal a fresh set of 5 face-up ingredients.

2. Change Ingredient into Something New

Imagine a wise alchemist who has discovered the secret to transforming ordinary ingredients into precious gold. It’s quite a magical skill, don’t you think? The alchemist is more than willing to share his gold with you, but there’s a catch – you have to provide him with the ingredients. Perhaps he’s become too old to gather them himself, or maybe he simply prefers not to wake up early and compete with other foragers.

When you choose to take this action, all you have to do is discard one ingredient and the alchemist will reward you with a gold piece from the bank. It’s important to note that being the first player doesn’t give you any advantage on this particular space.

Something interesting to keep in mind is that whenever you discard ingredients, no one else gets to see what you have discarded. It’s as if your discards are shrouded in mystery, hidden away from prying eyes.

Tip: This action can be a convenient way to get that one gold piece you desperately need, but it might not be the best strategy if you’re in need of two gold pieces. Skilled alchemists, however, know that the real money comes from earning grants and selling their magical potions to adventurous souls.

3. Buy Artifact

Having a collection of fancy trophies on display is a sure way to show off your accomplishments. When you purchase an item, grab one of the cards from the selection available and pay the price indicated in the top left corner. It’s important to keep your newly acquired items visible to everyone by placing them on the table in front of you.

When you find early artifacts in the game, they have effects that last for the entire game. If an effect doesn’t say it can only be used once per round, you can use it every time it applies.

Some artifacts have an immediate effect, but you can only use it once. You need to use this effect as part of your Buy Artifact action. At the end of the game, most artifacts will give you victory points. Some artifacts have different victory point values, and you can find the details on the card.

In the beginning, the artifacts row only has artifacts labeled I. Even if all the artifacts have been taken, the row is not replenished. At the end of round 3 and round 5, any remaining artifacts will be discarded and the next three artifacts will be placed in the row. But until then, the II and III artifacts are kept face up on the table so that you can read them and plan ahead.

Exploring the World of Experiments

Hey there! Ready to dive into the fascinating world of experiments? Well, hold on tight because we’re about to embark on a thrilling adventure filled with discovery and wonder. From chemistry concoctions to mind-boggling physics, experiments have the power to amaze and enlighten.

Now, you might be wondering, what exactly is an experiment? It’s simple, really. An experiment is like a puzzle that scientists and curious minds put together to uncover answers to questions. It’s a way to test ideas, theories, and hypotheses by creating controlled situations.

So, why are experiments so important? Well, they allow us to learn more about the world around us. They help us understand how things work, why certain reactions happen, and even how our bodies function. Think of experiments as keyholes that unlock the secrets of nature.

But it’s not just about knowledge. Experiments also spark creativity and innovation. They inspire new ideas and push the boundaries of what’s possible. With each experiment, we take a leap forward and open doors to new discoveries.

However, experiments can be a bit tricky. You see, they have this double-edged sword quality. On one hand, they can give us incredible insights and solutions. On the other hand, they may not always go as planned or provide the expected results. But don’t let that discourage you! Even when things don’t go according to plan, experiments teach us valuable lessons and help us refine our thinking.

So, whether you’re a budding scientist or simply curious about how the world works, experiments are your ticket to a world of excitement and knowledge. Pick a branch of science that interests you – chemistry, biology, physics, or even psychology – and start exploring! Don’t be afraid to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn along the way.

Remember, experiments are all about seeking answers, unlocking mysteries, and expanding our understanding. They’re a powerful tool that fuels our curiosity and drives us forward on our journey of discovery. So, hop on board and let’s begin our thrilling expedition into the wonderful world of experiments!

So here’s the deal. The town council got fed up with all the problems caused by those winged pigs, so they banned testing on animals. That means alchemists have no choice but to test their potions on people. Luckily, there are plenty of alchemy students in town. And worst-case scenario, you can always be your own guinea pig.

Now, pay attention to the final two actions of the round because that’s where things get interesting. This is when you mix two ingredients together and see what happens. Whether you’re testing on a student or trying out the potion yourself, the process is the same. Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Pick any two of your ingredient cards to mix together.
  2. Put those cards in your cauldron where nobody can see them.
  3. Tap #image.jpg or #image.jpg, depending on which action space you’re using.

When I play the card game Alchemists, I follow a set of steps to scan the cards and reveal the results. First, I scan the cards and tap the screen when the reader recognizes them. Then, I show the result to the other players, who will learn which potion I made but not the specific ingredients I used. After that, I put the corresponding result token in my results triangle. It’s important to put the token on my player board as well to remind the other players that I made that potion. The ingredients I used are discarded face down. Potions I mixed are public knowledge, so everyone knows which ones I’ve made.

Even if we decide to use the “select by hand” option on the card reader, we still need to add the two ingredients to the cauldron to avoid forgetting to discard them. This step is essential, especially when we’re dealing with negative potions. Mixing the #image.jpg, #image.jpg, and #image.jpg potions leads to some rather unpleasant effects. This is precisely why alchemists have students.

4. Students and Their Role

When it comes to science, a student is willing to do anything. They’ll drink any potion, even if it makes them sick. But once they get sick, they’ll still drink the potion for science, but this time they’ll expect to be paid 1 gold piece. The first player to use this action space gets to do the experiment.

But here’s the catch – if you’re not the first player to experiment, you might be at a disadvantage. After the student drinks a negative potion, their enthusiasm for science dwindles. For all the players who come after the one who mixed the negative potion, the action now costs 1 gold piece. However, you can choose not to do the action and instead move your cube to the unused cubes space. And if you can’t afford to pay the student’s fee, then you have no choice but to decline the action.

Every round, a new student arrives with a burning passion for science. They don’t know what happened to the previous student, so their first experiments of the round are always free. It’s not until someone mixes a negative potion that things change.

Step 5: Take a Sip

Now it’s time for the next step in our magical journey: drinking the enchanted potion. I’m sure you’re curious about what will happen when you take a sip. Well, let’s find out together!

I’m going to be honest with you, my friend. Drinking a potion can be a bit unpredictable. You never know exactly what will happen. That’s part of the excitement, and also why it’s important to choose the right potion for your needs. But don’t worry, I’ll guide you through it.

When you drink a potion, it can have all sorts of effects. Some potions might make you feel stronger, while others could give you the ability to fly. Some might even grant you the power to see into the future! It all depends on the ingredients and the spell that was used to create the potion.

But let me give you a word of caution. Drinking potions can be a double-edged sword. While they can give you amazing abilities and experiences, they can also have side effects. You might turn into a frog or start speaking in a language no one else understands. So, it’s important to be aware of the possible consequences before you take that sip.

However, don’t let the uncertainties discourage you. Drinking a potion is a fascinating experience and can truly elevate your magical adventures. Just be prepared for the unexpected and embrace the mystery.

Remember, my friend, the world of magic is full of surprises. So, get ready, take a deep breath, and take a sip of that magical concoction. Who knows what wonders await you on the other side?

So here’s the deal—this is the easiest way to figure out what a potion does. But let me tell you, it’s not all fun and games.

The cool thing about trying out potions on yourself is that you don’t have to spend any money. You get to be your own guinea pig. But here’s the catch—the potions that have a negative effect will definitely mess with you. And the weird part is, it all depends on the color of the potion you chug:

This potion is absolutely crazy! I can’t recall drinking it or even doing naked cartwheels in the town square. It’s a real head-scratcher. But here’s the catch – everyone else remembers it like it was yesterday.

And guess what? My reputation just took a nosedive. I lost a whole point! Can you believe it?

Hey there! Ever heard of a potion of paralysis? Let me tell you, it’s quite something. Just imagine waking up in the morning, all ready to conquer the day, but suddenly finding yourself unable to move a muscle. Sounds pretty wild, right?

When you play the game, place your order marker on this specific order space. In the next round, you won’t be able to choose an order space with the other players. Instead, you’ll get to draw the cards indicated by this special order space, and you’ll play last.

This penalty only lasts for one round. If your marker has been on the paralysis space for the entire round, you can move it off when it’s time to start drinking potions. That way, nobody will mistake your marker for those of the players who paralyze themselves now. But remember, if you drink the potion again, you’ll have to put your marker back on the paralysis space.

Congratulations! You just braved the experience of consuming a toxic substance. As a student, you’ve likely developed a resistance to these dangers. Nonetheless, you’re not feeling your best right now. It’s essential for you to take some time to recuperate.

When you are paralyzed, something interesting happens to your action cube. Instead of returning it to your player board, you place it on the hospital space. This means that in the next round, you will have one less cube to use. It’s like your action cube is taking a little break!

Here’s another cool thing: when you are paralyzed, any negative potions that come your way won’t affect you twice in the same round. Talk about a lucky break! But don’t worry, positive and neutral potions won’t have any game effect on you. They might just make you feel better, like a sigh of relief.

But wait, there’s more!

Being paralyzed can lead to some unexpected and fun experiences. Who knows what might happen? Maybe you’ll discover a hidden talent or find a secret passage. The possibilities are endless! So, embrace your paralysis and see where it takes you.

When multiple players drink a potion, we all place our order markers on the green space at the bottom. The players who place their markers first will go before the ones who place theirs later.

If the starting player marker is given to a paralyzed player, they pass it to the player on their left.

(The player on the left gets all the benefits of being the starting player, and it wouldn’t be fair if they had those advantages two rounds in a row).

In the unlikely event that the player on the left is also paralyzed, the marker keeps going around the table until it reaches a player who isn’t paralyzed.

In the highly unlikely scenario where all players are paralyzed, we don’t pass the marker at all. The next round, the starting player will be the one who would have started this round.

Your First Round

Hey there! You’re all set to dive into your very first round of Alchemists. Well, almost all set. There are a few things we need to cover after you’ve taken your Drink Potion action. But don’t worry, we’ll get to that in a bit.

If you’re feeling eager, you can go ahead and play your first round now. Then, when you’re ready, come on back here and let’s dive into the other three action spaces!
