A Feast for Odin Anytime Actions

Ah, the joy of embarking on an adventure! In the exciting world of “A Feast for Odin,” I’m always on the lookout for new ways to improve my Viking clan’s prosperity. And guess what? The Anytime Actions in the game are my secret weapon!

These Anytime Actions provide me with numerous opportunities to make strategic moves and gain an edge over my opponents. Whether it’s trading, hunting, or crafting, these actions give me the chance to maximize my clan’s productivity and expand its influence.

The beauty of these Anytime Actions is that I can take them whenever I want, without waiting for my turn. It’s like having a magical wellspring of actions that I can draw from whenever I need them. How amazing is that?

One of these Anytime Actions allows me to explore new territories. I have the freedom to send out my Vikings to uncover uncharted lands, discover new resources, and claim them for my clan. It’s like being a fearless explorer, charting the course to prosperity!

Another fantastic Anytime Action is the ability to build ships. With this action, I can construct magnificent vessels that will take my clan on epic voyages. These ships not only bring valuable resources back home but also enable me to send my Vikings on even more rewarding adventures. Talk about a win-win situation!

Of course, no Viking tale is complete without some fierce hunting. With the Anytime Action of hunting, I can send my skilled hunters out into the wilderness to track and bring back precious game. This not only provides my clan with food but also earns me glory and satisfaction as a mighty hunter.

And let’s not forget about crafting. Through the Anytime Action of crafting, I can unleash my creativity and turn raw materials into valuable goods. Whether it’s forging weapons, weaving fine clothes, or crafting intricate jewelry, my clan’s craftsmen are always hard at work, elevating our status and generating envy in neighboring clans.

In the world of “A Feast for Odin,” these Anytime Actions are the key to success. By strategically utilizing them, I can take my Viking clan to new heights of prosperity and ensure its dominance in the game. So, remember, don’t overlook the power of these Anytime Actions – they might just be your ticket to victory!

You have a lot of options available to you during the game. You can take different actions whenever you want, even while you’re doing something else.

Putting Goods on the Home Board

As I mentioned before, you can place green craft products, blue luxury goods, silver coins, and ore tokens on empty spaces on your home board. But there are some rules you need to follow:

The spaces with the big numbers (0, 1, 2, 3, and so on) make up the “income diagonal” (you can read more about “Income” on page 9). To cover a space in the income diagonal, you must already have covered or be in the process of covering:

  • All the spaces to the left of that space
  • All the spaces below that space
  • All the spaces in the square at the bottom left of the space

Spaces with symbols for goods are already considered covered.

Hey there! Let’s talk about the early game strategy in a fun and simple way. In this game, we have these cool tiles called robes. Did you know that with just one robe, you can cover three numbers? How awesome is that!

But here’s the thing, when you do cover those numbers, you’ll also be covering the mead space. And that’s not so great because you’ll miss out on a potential mead bonus. Bummer, right?

Don’t worry, though! The placement areas in the game show you how the squares grow, so you’ll always remember the rules. Just think of it as a helpful reminder. It’s like having a little guide that shows you where to put your robes. Pretty handy, huh?

When I play this game, I always remember one important rule: green tiles can’t be next to other green tiles. I have a picture on my board that shows me this.

The blue tiles, on the other hand, can be next to other blue tiles. The same goes for silver coins and ore tokens.

Sometimes, players forget about this rule by accident. If you realize the mistake too late, you can find a solution on page 23.

If you want to place something, you can’t put it on top of something that’s already there. But you can cover spaces that have symbols on them. Just remember, those spaces are already considered to be covered.

When I place something, it needs to be within the designated area.

The home board has a handy feature at the top right – three extra spaces. These spaces come in handy during the end game when you want to place bigger tiles, like the treasure chest.

To make sure you don’t lose points, I want you to know that you can place goods wherever you want in the placement area. Just remember not to cover any income spaces that you’re not allowed to cover.

Now, let’s talk about the special tiles. They’re pretty cool – they’re considered to be blue and follow the same rules as the blue good tiles.

Let me show you a neat trick on how to fill in the empty spaces in the top right corner without overlapping the important income spaces.

Where to Put Your Stuff on the Exploration Boards

Just like with your home board, you have the freedom to place green craft products and blue luxury goods, along with silver coins and ore tokens, on any open spots on the exploration boards. And don’t worry, the rules are the same as before.

Hey there! Let me tell you something cool about exploration boards. So, there are these boards, right? And they have different spaces on them. But, wait for it, some of these spaces are special!

You see, there are spaces in the center that you can’t cover with goods. They have this eye-catching green border, so you won’t miss them!

Now, here’s the really interesting part. There are a bunch of spaces on the exploration boards that are surrounded by less than 8 other spaces. It’s like they’re just waiting to be enclosed! And when you do enclose them, guess what? You get a bonus!

If you want to unlock the special benefits of the rune stone and ore on Bear Island, all you have to do is cover six spaces.

Placing Items on House Tiles

You can place orange farm goods, red animal products, green craft products, blue luxury goods, and silver coins on the empty spaces of your houses, whenever you want.

Remember, orange tiles cannot be next to each other on the same row or column, but they can be diagonally adjacent, as you can see in the illustration of the house tiles.

Remember this about any action you take:

When you put a goods tile on a board or house, you have to stick with that decision. There’s no going back.

But don’t worry! You can still play around with different tile placements to plan your moves. Just make sure to take them back before you continue.

Now, when it’s phases 7 and 10, all the income and bonuses come in at once. That means you can’t use the income or bonuses from one board to place game pieces on another board during the same phase.

Hey there! Just a quick heads-up, make sure not to cover the pillars in the long house. It’s an important rule to keep in mind.

Now, let’s talk strategy. Once you place tiles on the board, you can’t take them back. So, it’s a good idea to lay down as many tiles as possible before the income and bonus phases. Especially focus on placing the large tiles on the boards instead of holding onto them in your supply.

Getting Ships

Whenever you want, you can get a ship by paying its cost in silver. You’ll find the ship’s cost right next to its value on the supply board. If you prefer, you can also use the “Ship Building” action space to construct ships using wood.

When it comes to boats, there are small ones called whaling boats, and there are larger ones known as knarrs and longships. The whaling boats are, as the name suggests, used for hunting whales. On the other hand, knarrs and longships are considered “large ships.”

If you’re looking to buy a boat, it’s important to choose the right size and type. Whaling boats are ideal if you enjoy fishing or want a smaller vessel for recreational purposes. They are designed for maneuverability and can navigate through narrow waterways with ease.

Knarrs and longships, on the other hand, are larger and more robust. They are commonly used for commercial purposes such as transporting goods and people over long distances. These ships can withstand rougher waters and carry heavier loads.

When you’re considering buying a boat, it’s essential to take into account your specific needs and preferences. If you enjoy fishing and exploring smaller bodies of water, a whaling boat might be the perfect fit for you. On the other hand, if you’re looking to embark on longer journeys or transport goods, a knarr or longship would be a better choice.

Choosing the right boat is crucial as it will determine your overall experience on the water. Whether you’re a recreational sailor or a professional mariner, understanding the different types of boats available will help you make an informed decision.

So, if you’re in the market for a boat, keep in mind the distinctions between whaling boats, knarrs, and longships. By choosing the right vessel for your needs and desires, you can embark on exciting adventures and enjoy the beauty of the water.

Buying a boat in this game is no simple task. It’s like diving into the deep sea of decisions, where every choice has consequences. Imagine yourself in the shoes of a sailor, weighing the pros and cons of each vessel – a whaling boat, a knarr, or a longship. Each has its own worth, and it’s up to you to find the perfect fit.

When I set out on my maritime adventure, I discovered that a whaling boat costs 3 silver, while a knarr costs 5 silver, and a longship comes with a price tag of 8 silver. It’s essential to keep this information at the forefront of your mind when making your selection.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – where do I house these magnificent ships? Well, don’t fret, my friend. It’s quite simple. Each ship you acquire must be placed in your bay, but here’s the catch – you need a landing stage of the appropriate size. You can’t just put a whaling boat on one of the larger spaces.

The Art of Bartering

Hey there! Did you know that you can easily make change with your silver coins? It’s super straightforward. Yep, silver comes in different denominations: 1 silver, 2 silver, 4 silver, and 10 silver.

Now, let me tell you how these silver coins work. You can place them in the placement areas and houses. It’s pretty neat, right?

Ready to Arm Up?

Here’s something cool—you can arm up at any time, even right before an action! Just take ore from your supply and place it on the designated spaces of your whaling boats and longships.

Oh, and here’s an important rule: once you’ve placed the ore on your ships, you can’t take it back. So choose wisely where you want it to go!

By the way, you’re probably wondering what you can do with those longships, right? Well, they’re perfect for raiding and pillaging. Time to unleash the power!

Whaling boats, as the name implies, are specifically designed and employed for the purpose of engaging in the activity of whaling. These remarkable vessels are equipped with various features and functionalities that enable them to effectively carry out the tasks involved in this age-old practice.

But why are these boats considered so crucial in the world of whaling? One of the key reasons is their unique construction, which allows for efficient maneuverability and navigation through the vast and unpredictable waters where these majestic creatures reside.

Moreover, whaling boats are equipped with specific tools and equipment that aid in the tracking, locating, and capturing of whales. This includes harpoons, which are carefully crafted and designed to pierce the thick skin of these magnificent creatures, ensuring a secure hold and facilitating the subsequent stages of the whaling process.

Another prominent feature of whaling boats is their capacity to transport and store the harvested ore. These vessels are equipped with ample space to accommodate the massive size of the ore, allowing for the safe and secure storage of these valuable resources until they can be properly processed and utilized.

When someone embarks on the journey of whaling, it is essential to select the right type of whaling boat that suits their specific needs and requirements. Factors such as size, speed, and durability should all be taken into account to ensure a successful and efficient whaling experience.

If you’re looking for a reliable and sturdy whaling boat, then you’ll love the wide range of options available in today’s market. Each boat boasts its own unique set of features and capabilities, catering to the diverse needs of whalers.

By understanding the importance and functionality of whaling boats, you can truly appreciate the magnitude of their role in the whaling industry. These vessels serve as a vital tool, enabling whalers to navigate the vast oceans, locate and capture whales, and transport and store the precious ore they yield.

So, whether you’re a seasoned whaler or a novice venturing into this extraordinary practice, choosing the right whaling boat is crucial. Take into account the various factors that contribute to a successful whaling experience, and embark on your journey equipped with the perfect vessel.

Jobs

There are numerous jobs that allow you to make choices whenever you want.

When I see a blue background color on an occupation card, I know it’s time to take action. It’s my cue that I can do something at any time.

Sharing with Others

If I have goods, ships, boards, or cards that I don’t want anymore, I can’t just give them away or throw them out. I have to wait for my turn and use an action to do something with them.
