FOUR TWENTY ONE

Welcome to Four Twenty One, a fast-paced dice game where the goal is to create the best dice combination possible in each round. Are you ready to test your luck and skills? Let’s dive in!

Here’s how it works: during your turn, you’ll have up to three rolls of the dice. After each roll, you can choose to keep some or all of the dice. And here’s a cool trick – you can even roll the dice you set aside earlier if it’ll help you create an even better combination!

Now, let’s determine who goes first. Each player should roll all three of their dice, and the player with the highest total gets the honor of going first. And don’t worry, the player with the lowest total keeps score, so everyone gets a chance to shine!

THE PLAY

When it’s my turn, I start by rolling all three dice. Once I’ve rolled, I can choose to keep some of the dice and set aside the rest. Then, I roll the remaining dice again. After the second roll, I decide which dice to hold onto, if any. If I want, I can also roll the dice I previously set aside again. But remember, I only have three rolls per turn.

Now, let’s talk about the different combinations and how they rank, starting from the highest:

Understanding Dice Ranking in a Board Game: A Complete Guide

When it comes to board games, one of the key elements that adds excitement and unpredictability is the rolling of dice. It’s fascinating to see how the numbers align and what combination you end up with. But have you ever wondered how the ranking of dice combinations works? In this guide, I’ll explain everything you need to know about the ranking of dice combinations in a board game.

The Rankings:

Here are the different dice combinations in order of their rank:

Rank Combination
1. 4-2-1 The highest combination possible. If you roll a 4-2-1 on the very first roll, you earn 2 extra points.
2. Triples All three dice show the same number. 6-6-6 is the highest, and 1-1-1 is the lowest.
3. Doubles Two dice have the same number. The third dice is a tiebreaker. The highest double combo is 6-6-5, and the lowest is 1-1-2.
4. Unmatched All dice show different numbers. The highest unmatched combo is 6-5-4, and the lowest is 3-2-1.

An Example Round:

So here’s how the game goes. I roll the dice and I get 4-4-1. I decide to keep the two fours and set them aside. On my second turn, I roll a 3. I take one more chance and roll again, getting a 2. So my final combination for the round is 4-4-3.

Now it’s Player 2’s turn. They roll the dice and get 2-2-1. They decide to set aside the two twos and the one, and roll the remaining die. It’s another 2! They keep that 2 and roll the one again. This time, luck is on their side as they roll a third 2. Their final combo is 2-2-2.

Player 3 is up next. They roll a 4-2-1 right off the bat. This is the highest ranking roll for the round. And not only that, they also earn 2 extra points for rolling a 4-2-1 on their first try.

WINNING

In each round of the game, the player who has the highest combination of dice earns 1 point. But if they roll a 4-2-1 on their first try, they get an extra 2 points. If there is a tie between players, they each get one more roll. The player with the highest combination after that extra roll wins the round.

If two players both roll a 4-2-1, they both earn 2 points, even if one of them wins the tiebreaker.

The player with the most points at the end of the tenth round wins the game.
