PAY ME
Hey there! Let me tell you about Pay Me, a really fun game that’s kind of like rummy. The whole idea is to create groups of cards called melds in your hand. By doing this, you can increase the number of cards you can play. It gets really exciting! And guess what? The best part is that the goal is to get as few points as possible. How cool is that?
SETUP
When we’re ready to start, I’ll shuffle the cards really well and deal three cards to each player for the first round. As we continue playing, the player to the left of the dealer will become the new dealer, and each player will receive an extra card. Simple, right?
We’ll place the rest of the cards face down in the center of the table. Then, I’ll reveal the top card and put it next to the deck. This becomes the discard pile. Now we’re all set to kick off the game!
GAMEPLAY
When it’s my turn, I get to pick a card and give one away. The game goes on, with each of us taking turns, until someone says “Pay Me”. This happens when they’ve put together some sets of cards.
While we play, we can combine cards to make sets. A set needs at least three cards of the same rank. We can also make a set with three cards in the same suit. If I manage to put together all my cards while discarding, I can say “Pay Me”.
Sometimes, I might need to make a longer set by adding more than three cards. A set needs to have at least three cards, but I can add more if I want. If I’m missing a card, I can use a wild card, like a Joker, or the same rank as the number of cards I’m given.
When we play the game, each of us takes turns in a clockwise direction. Once someone says “Pay Me,” everyone else gets a chance to take their turn. Finally, we reveal our melds and count up the points. The cards that aren’t part of a meld count as points. The cards from Ace to Seven are worth five points each, while the cards from Eight to King are worth ten points each.
End of the Game
After eleven rounds, the game ends. We add up all the points, and the player with the fewest points is declared the winner!
After eleven rounds, the game comes to a close. We calculate all the points, and the player with the lowest score emerges as the victorious champion!
