MENAGERIE
Hey there! Menagerie is a super fun card game that you can play with four or more of your buddies. The aim of the game is to collect all 52 cards in your deck pile. How cool is that?
So, in Menagerie, we all get an equal number of cards from the deck. And guess what? We each have our own special word too! Now, here’s the exciting part – if you see one of your cards matching with someone else’s, you gotta shout your word three times before they do. If you win the race, you get to keep their card. Sweet!
SETUP
First things first, we all need to pick a theme for our game. It can be anything we like – from animals to colors to cool cities! Then, each of us gets to come up with our own special word. Remember, the words should be kinda similar in difficulty to pronounce, so let’s be fair and not go for super easy ones while others choose more challenging ones. Deal?
So here’s how it goes. We all think of a word and write it down on a slip of paper. Then, we mix up all the slips and each of us randomly picks one. The word on the slip we draw is the word that defines us for the whole game.
Now, we need to take some time getting to know everyone’s word, including our own.
Now, let’s choose a dealer. The dealer shuffles the deck of cards and deals them out equally to each player, face-down.
Card Ranking
In this game, the ranking of the cards doesn’t matter. We’re just looking to see if a card matches the rank of our own.
Let the Game Begin!
When we start the game, we all flip the top card from our hidden decks to create a pile of revealed cards. Then we look to see if any of our cards match the ones that are already revealed. If we find a match, we have to try and say the other player’s word three times in a row without making any mistakes. The other player can also try to do the same. Whoever successfully says their opponent’s word three times in a row gets to take all of the revealed cards and add them to the bottom of their own deck.
If there are no matches, we flip the next card from our hidden decks and keep going.
We keep repeating these steps until one player has collected all of the cards into their own deck.
END OF GAME
Hey there! Let me tell you about how the game works. The goal of the game is to collect all 52 cards in the deck. Once a player has all the cards, they become the winner!
